bcurtiswxhey anyone: if you have jaunty installed and updated fully03:07
bcurtiswxcan you try playing any song in Rhythmbox and see if the progress bar moves03:07
dtchenbcurtiswx: sometimes it does. why?03:14
dtchen(that's bug 330814, BTW)03:14
ubottuLaunchpad bug 330814 in pulseaudio "pulseaudio[4255]: segfault " [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33081403:14
dtchenyes, i know about it. yes, i'm fixing it now. no, i don't have an ETA.03:15
bcurtiswxdtchen: oh, well im trying to reproduce bug 335249 and i can't even get the progress bar to move03:16
ubottuLaunchpad bug 335249 in do-plugins "Rhythmbox 0.11.5 "Repeat" function not functioning." [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33524903:16
dtchenbcurtiswx: pkill pulseaudio ; start-pulseaudio-x1103:21
dtchenbcurtiswx: then retry the RB operation03:21
bcurtiswxdtchen: hmm, that didn't help me, but i notice that the length of my songs can't be found for some reason, that would def stop the progress bar for working03:23
dtchenbcurtiswx: reproducible for all audio media?03:24
dtchendid you restart RB after restarting PA?03:24
bcurtiswxi will try that03:24
bcurtiswxand yes i did restart03:24
stgrabercan you try moving your files away from the music directory, then put them back in03:27
stgraberI once had that bug and it was because RB scanned the files when it didn't have the codecs and then stored the duration as not being available for all my files03:28
stgrabermoving them away and back in forced RB to rescan them and fixed the issue03:28
bcurtiswxstgraber: will try one sec03:29
bcurtiswxstgraber: nope03:31
bcurtiswxi wonder if its my VM causing this03:31
patanachaiHello03:43
bcurtiswxdtchen: bug 335249 (previously mentioned), deals with gnome-do and its rhythmbox plugin.  but I don't think that gnome-do has the power to repeat03:44
ubottuLaunchpad bug 335249 in do-plugins "Rhythmbox 0.11.5 "Repeat" function not functioning." [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33524903:44
bcurtiswxand thats a rhythmbox thing only..03:44
bcurtiswxthis is important as right now the package effected is gnome-do-plugins03:44

giunzinglxinfo returns: direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)05:10
giunzini updated to the latest xorg intel driver already05:11
giunzinanybody knows how to fix this problem?05:11
giunzinthis makes playing game like neverball impossible, as it is very slow!05:11
dtchendid you look in /var/log/Xorg.0.log ?05:16
dtchenBTW, #ubuntu-devel is not the correct channel for support; you really want #ubuntu05:17
giunzindtchen: i know, but that channel is too noisy, with too much people :-(05:18

dholbachthekorn: yes :/09:26
thekornsuper09:26
dholbachwe'll just keep the "5-a-day --update" thing around for people who want it09:26

thekorndholbach, the 5-a-day-applet has been removed, to actually remove the applet I need to restart th session, right?09:46
dholbachthekorn: hum.....................09:46
dholbachthekorn: if you restart the session the panel will probably tell you "can not load <...>. shall i remove it?"09:46
dholbachyou can directly remove it from the panel too09:46
dholbachmight be worth trying the session restart scenario09:47
thekornlet's try it09:47
thekorndholbach, I got a dialog "Wollen Sie das Applet aus Ihrer Konfiguration löschen?"09:49
Hewfeisty-backports bugs should be marked Won't Fix. I've seen automated tools run on Launchpad that can do this, does anyone know how this can be done?09:49

bcurtiswx_bugcontrol, will you set bug #335249 to wishlist please18:07
ubottuLaunchpad bug 335249 in rhythmbox "Rhythmbox 0.11.5 should offer a "repeat one song" option." [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33524918:07
bcurtiswx_also, when a bug is set to wishlist, is this bug officially "triaged" and can be set as so?18:08
chrisccoulsoni'm not sure what to do about rhythmbox feature requests, seeing as it is being abandoned upstream with 0.12 being the last release18:15
bdmurraysomebody else could still implement them right?18:16
bcurtiswx_chrisccoulson: whats replacing it?18:16
amrlimachrisccoulson:banshee will replace rythmbox then?18:16
chrisccoulsoni suppose, but i don't know if we'll find anyone who wants to implement them18:16
chrisccoulsoni don't know what is replacing rhythmbox18:17
chrisccoulsonall i know is that there was announcement saying that 0.12 is the last release18:17
bcurtiswx_interesting, news to me18:17
chrisccoulsonshame really, i quite like it18:17
amrlimabanshee would cause a lot of flame I guess18:17
chrisccoulsonwhy?18:18
=== thekorn_ is now known as thekorn
bcurtiswx_maybe RB was getting less support from devs than banshee is?18:18
amrlimamono? would be fine by me. I reaaly like banshee18:18
bcurtiswx_so, about my question.  would setting a bug to wishlist from a feature request, effectively deem it triaged?18:20
greg-gyes, but there isn't much reason to set it to triaged, confirmed is just fine for a feature request18:27
bcurtiswx_greg-g: ok ty18:27
bdmurraygreg-g: why?18:27
greg-gbdmurray: why the second part (triaged v. confirmed)?18:27
bdmurraygreg-g: yeah18:28
bcurtiswx_IMO: triaged means we've sent the bug off to the right place.  In wishlist cases, we've done all we can do as a triager, so thats why i would assume triaged is correct.18:30
bdmurraybcurtiswx_: you could, and should, forward the feature request upstream18:31
bdmurraybcurtiswx_: ah, re-read I'm with you now18:31
bcurtiswx_bdmurray: haha,np.  i asked this is my bugcontrol app, so you can ignore that question now :-X.18:32
bcurtiswx_bdmurray: and yes i forward all wishlist items that deal with upstream projects... upstream18:32
bcurtiswx_bdmurray: bug #335249 if you wouldn't mind setting as triaged and wishlist for me18:33
ubottuLaunchpad bug 335249 in rhythmbox "Rhythmbox 0.11.5 should offer a "repeat one song" option." [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33524918:33
=== fader is now known as fader|lunch
greg-gbdmurray: (sorry, office interruption) I think I had been told that when I was doing packaging requests, and mentally moved that system over the feature requests in general. To me, confirmed is good for when we know it is a feature request, and then triaged for when it is linked to an upstrem bug report.18:37
bcurtiswx_hmm, according to the RB mailing list.  bastien thinks RB is a dead end project and won't make any new releases after .1218:44
bcurtiswx_so this was a RB decision not gnome18:44
bcurtiswx_oh... sorry thats Jonathan18:45
bcurtiswx_not bastien18:45
bdmurraygreg-g: okay, that makes sense18:45
greg-gI kinda came into that discussion midway and didn't read the full backlog, bad etiquette18:47
bcurtiswx_bdmurray: greg-g what about upstream version upgrade requests... this isn't a bug we can link with upstream.. should those be deemed triage18:47
bcurtiswx_for example pidgin version upgrades18:59
charlie-tcaI always go with confirmed, since I can't know for sure everything is there that is needed19:00
charlie-tcaIf I sent it upstream, it is triaged19:02
bcurtiswx_charlie-tca: ok, it makes sense to me then.. thanks19:02
bdmurrayjames_w: is bug 303931 fix released now?19:03
ubottuLaunchpad bug 303931 in bzr-builddeb "Doesn't handle tar extensions" [Medium,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/30393119:03

james_wbdmurray: I haven't actually "released" that code19:04
bdmurrayjames_w: there's a mail to jaunty-changes that mentions that bug19:05
james_wyeah19:05
james_wit's an issue of having a native package really19:06
james_wthat bug is against the upstream project19:06

Mr-WoofHi, what's the best way to get involved with the bug squad ? :)20:15
asomethingMr-Woof: Have you read through this wiki page? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BugSquad/KnowledgeBase It's a good starting point and covers lots of ground...20:17
asomethingespecially https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/HowToTriage20:18
Mr-WoofThanks i'll go and have a read of that in a minute20:19
Mr-WoofAh i see, so you are really just sorting through the bug reports, looking for duplicates etc so they can be then pushed on to be fixed?20:27
bdmurrayMr-Woof: not just duplicates, it is also gathering information to make bug reports more complete, forwarding bugs to upstream software developers20:31
Mr-WoofSounds good to me bdmurray :)20:32
Mr-WoofI've been using ubuntu for a couple of months now, i'm still getting used to it20:33
bdmurrayIt's also a great way to learn about the OS and other bits of software20:33
Mr-WoofIt's a pity i'm useless at programming :)20:36
bdmurraySome bugs are just typo fixes in strings.  You might look for bugs tagged string-fix20:39
Mr-WoofThanks for the info guys20:39
