My computer seems to freeze every so often, always within 5-7 minutes. It varies; boot, login prompt, KDE splash, login, and minor usage (yakuake and kwrite). [16:27] Right now, it just froze on the KDE splash screen. I got the image of the hard drive, but the 2 following images are still blurry. [16:33] I am on Intrepid with 2.6.27-12-generic [19:18] i'd like to change a driver to load as a module instead statically linking [19:18] but make menuconfig will not let me change the option [19:18] it doesn't give an error or warning, just doesn't change [19:19] it looks like this: -*- Sonics Silicon Backplane support [19:20] i know its a noob ?, sorry, i just haven't had any luck finding an answer [19:21] steve_baker: Something that depends on that module is built into the kernel [19:21] makes sense [20:21] is there an easy way to navigate to a config option in menuconfig if you know its identifier, i can't seem to find SSB_POSSIBLE anywhere in menuconfig :( [20:34] hello [20:35] I've got a kernel bug with a patch and everything that's been sitting there for at least a month now [20:35] could someone please take a look at it? [20:35] bug #300143 [20:35] Malone bug 300143 in linux "tablet devices show up as non-functional joysticks" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/300143 [22:07] hello all [22:26] anyone know the difference between disabling hyperthreading by passing "noht" to grub at boot time, as opposed to issuing "echo 0 >/sys/devices/system/node/node0/cpu2/online" in /etc/rc.local? [23:32] I guess, you mean passing noht to the kernel from within grub?
