BatshuaHey, uhm.  I have a SA 3250 to which I am connected via FireWire.  I am getting no channel lock or only a partial lock on many, if not most channels even with 100% signal.  I have played around with the 3250, 4200, and 4250 drivers, none of which work to resolve this problem.  What should I be doing to troubleshoot at this stage?06:33
bazzawilleeehey guys I am having intermitant issues with my backend not functioning it is still running but nothing will connect to it either frontend or mythweb and nothing will record07:27

alexvdHello does mythbuntu current or alpha version support the hd-pvr capture device.  I am running a very old version right now but I need to move hardware and hopefully use my hdpvr that have been gathering alot of dust16:01
foxbuntualexvd, no, the reason is that the support for it is only in MythTV .22 which is still under development16:04
tgm4883alexvd, i've heard of someone porting that suppport back to 0.21, you can search the forums for it16:14
foxbuntutgm4883, just trying to show me up now arent you? ;)16:29
tgm4883yep, thats my MO16:29
foxbuntuI knew it!16:30
pinionI'm having trouble finding a good guide that can help me with transcoding16:55
pinionSeveral shows I want to encode to mkv and xvid but I don't even know where to begin.16:55
pinionIf any one can push me in the right direction I would be very grateful.16:55
foxbuntupinion, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythExport16:57
pinionAwesome thanks!16:58
pinionthat looks like it does the export to portable devices.  Is 480x320 close to SD?17:00
darthanubispinion, http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Nuvexport17:04
pinionThat sounds perfect!17:05
pinionThanks foxbuntu and darthanubis, both those links a very helpful for what I want to do17:06
MythbuntuGuest51Hello, I'm getting a mythfilldatabase ran, but did not insert any new data into the Guide for 1 of 1 sources. This can indicate a potential grabber failure. message in mythweb. My logs are here: http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/f6747e5d5 Any ideas why mythfilldatabase isn't running correctly? Thanks17:26
alexvdfoxbuntu: yes I have seen the posts on the mythtv mailing list about .21 backports.  people were asking and the devs were replying no18:28
foxbuntualexvd, im sorry, I dont follow18:29
pinionSo I screwed up while installing mythexport.  It keeps asking for a password and nothing I try works.  I think maybe I was supposed to put my mysql password in during setup but didn't.  How can I make it so it stops coming up every time I run apt-get install?18:37
rhpot1991pinion: it wants your mysql password18:37
rhpot1991what version of mythexport?18:38
rhpot1991in earlier ones there is a bug where it installs before the database exists18:38
pinionI put in the password under ~/.mythtv/config.xml18:38
pinionhmm18:38
pinionI dunno18:38
pinionI just did apt-get install mythexport18:38
rhpot1991the password is so it can create the table in the database, different things18:38
rhpot1991dpkg -l |grep mythexport18:38
pinionI'm running mythbuntu 8.1018:38
pinionand installed ubuntu-desktop18:39
rhpot1991pinion: let me get you a link18:39
pinion1.0.3-0ubuntu118:39
rhpot1991bug 28249818:40
ZinnBug 282498 in mythexport (Ubuntu) "package mythexport 1.0.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1" [Undecided, Fix Released] http://www.launchpad.net/bugs/28249818:40
pinioncool18:40
pinionthanks18:40
rhpot1991if you enable proposed as it says in the bottom of that bug18:40
rhpot1991you will be able to get the latest from there18:40
rhpot1991also can you please add comments to the bugs listed in the top of this wiki: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythExport_old18:40
rhpot1991after you install from proposed18:41
pinionSure thing18:41
rhpot1991thank18:42
pinionthank you18:42
pinionhmmm18:42
pinionit says before myth-backend or mythtv-database are installed18:43
pinionbut my mythtv is working fine18:43
rhpot1991pinion: I'd still recommend updating, there are those bug fixes18:43
rhpot1991but the issue at hand18:43
pinionyeah, I don't have much else to try ;)18:43
rhpot1991you need to tell it a working combination of database user and password18:44
rhpot1991you can test them with the following mysql -u<insert user here> -p mythconverg18:44
rhpot1991and then type the password when it asks18:44
rhpot1991you should be able to use your mysql root user, or the mythtv one in /etc/mythtv/mysql.txt18:44
pinionyeah18:46
pinionwhen I use user mythtv and put in the mysql password it works fine18:46
rhpot1991ok so do sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythexport18:47
alexvdfoxbuntu: I was replying back on the comment that tgm said about support for the hd-pvr in .21 backport18:47
rhpot1991and type that info in there18:47
foxbuntuah18:47
pinion/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: mythexport is broken or not fully installed18:48
pinionis there a way to clean it out entirely and start over?18:49
rhpot1991pinion: sudo apt-get install -f18:49
pinionthen I get that error18:50
pinionERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'18:50
pinionexit status 1 etc...18:50
rhpot1991pinion: ok do this: sudo dpkg --purge mythexport, then add the proposed repo and start over18:50
pinionok18:50
pinionhmm18:57
pinionI take it I only want to do selective upgrading18:57
pinionor I guess I could uncheck proposed updates I don't want right?18:57
pinionOk, I just enabled the proposed and then did a sudo apt-get install mythexport and made sure to put the info in that I just tested for mysql that worked and everything went fine19:00
pinionthanks!19:00
pinionI assume I can untick proposed now?19:01
pinion1.0.6-0ubuntu0.1 So yeah, I got it19:01
rhpot1991yep19:05
rhpot1991installed ok?19:05
pinionit did19:18
pinionbut19:18
pinionit says to goto localhost/mythexport to configure19:18
pinionbut it's the rss feed that's there19:18
pinionwhich I guess is how it used to be19:18
pinionbut now all the config is web based according to the new page19:18
pinionso I'm trying to figure out what to do to get it going19:19
rhpot1991pinion: the latest wiki vesrion is for the Jaunty release19:19
rhpot1991you want to look at this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythExport_old19:19
pinionthat's what I'm looking at now19:19
pinionI guess I need to create a user job19:19
pinionbut, so even though I have the 1.0.6 release instead of the 1.0.3 release I still won't have the web config?19:20
rhpot1991yep no web configuration there, thats new for 2.019:22
MythbuntuGuest27I am looking for some documentation on how to configure a usb TV tuner by Kworld20:54
h2oshello all, what software is used for commerical detection?23:36
tgm4883h2os, http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Mythcommflag23:40
h2ostgm4883, thank you for the info, are there any other s/w pkgs that do same thing?23:49
tgm4883h2os, I don't think so23:52
tgm4883what are you trying to do?23:52
h2ostgm4883, mythtv nice but not what i need. I want a desktop app with basic vdr/dvr capabilities (basically watch news w/o comms)23:54
h2oscurrently record, then use xine to skip comms23:55
h2oscurious if i could automate that part23:55
tgm4883yea your only option to do that would be to record the content with mythtv, then transcode it.  The commercial flagging stuff is stored in the db, so you would need some way to use that info23:58
tgm4883I don't know of any basic dvr apps that do commflagging23:59
h2osnor do i, mythtv was only 1 i new that did it23:59
