[14:17] hi [14:23] Hey juliux [14:32] if i try install ubuntu-desktop on a n800 i got this dependencies problems http://paste.ubuntuusers.de/394406/ my sources.list is http://paste.ubuntuusers.de/394407/ [14:33] i followed this howto http://www.internettablettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=3127852160d9e8ec0680bf3720e08e49&t=25975 [14:35] mm, do be aware that that ubuntu howto is hardly actual ubuntu, so there might be weird interactions [14:37] no problem [14:37] it is just for testing not for productive use [14:37] if it's broken it is broken;) [14:50] juliux, According to http://people.ubuntu.com/~ubuntu-archive/testing-ports/jaunty_probs.html it is broken today :( [14:50] It's been working before, and will probably be working again. [14:51] ah, nice page [14:51] * Stskeeps bookmarks [14:51] persia: thxs for the link [14:51] persia: i just find my n800 right bevor cebit back and then it was original playya job to bring ubuntu on it;) [14:51] Check the LP page for anything that produces uninstallable binaries. I suspect there's probably either version skew, or FTBFS going on. [14:52] If you had playya hacking it directly, it probably got it installed fairly sanely, so it's just archive skew that's hitting you. [14:52] ok [14:53] playya found his n810 so we will test it in the next weeks again and again;) [14:53] Mind you, if you're feeling sufficiently inclined to hunt down the reason for the failure, and submit patches ... :) [14:53] i have ordered two extra sd cards today;) [14:54] * persia needs to dig up some out-of-archive kernels, and install jaunty on more devices one of these days [15:01] juliux: if you need any assistance with ubuntu and such on the tablets feel free to prod me. b-man is mostly just integrating work done by me related to the mer project (we've had ubuntu/mojo since summer on the tablets but didn't want to have a seperate ubuntu distribution cos it would run into similar problems as with debian on tablets - not power saving enough :P) [15:02] Stskeeps: good to know [15:02] Stskeeps: i will wait until ubuntu-desktop is installable and then see what is working [15:03] juliux, While you're waiting, you might want to look at mer: it's got *lots* of patches that haven't gotten to Ubuntu yet. [15:03] persia: what is mer? [15:04] http://wiki.maemo.org/Mer , currently playing with new UI implementation based on some of the U-M patches :) [15:05] ok [15:05] ubuntu jaunty based [15:07] Personally, I suspect that many, if not most, of those patches will drop into karmic, but none of those who could upload had time to review all the Mer patches during jaunty. [15:18] juliux: Could be apport failing to build on armel [15:18] Unfortunately, a bunch of main packages failed to build on armel [15:20] lool, More than apport. See the jaunty-probs report. [15:49] persia: There's more than apport failing, but I suspect it's causing the uninstallability because of arch: all/any deps [15:49] ANyway [18:19] sorry for the stupid question but what is the menu/swap key on a n800? [18:19] the middle one below dpad [18:19] Stskeeps: thxs [18:20] Stskeeps: mer installations runs fine for me [18:20] thxs for the cool install script [18:21] hehe, say thanks to b-man for that part :) [18:22] ok [18:46] Stskeeps: is there a special irc channel for mer? [18:51] juliux: we mostly hang out in #maemo and #mer [18:51] ok [23:14] hey lool, I tested ubuntu-desktop on a fresh install twice, its not uninstallable for me [23:15] lool, I also have most of my patches to actually get RedBoot to build merged into bazaar repos (ecos's config tools need patching :-/)
