dandelrtg, i see that they are ready, i'll boot those 2 kernels up asap.00:26
dandelrtg, it seems that the mainline 2.6.25 kernel is unbootable for me.02:18
dandelit gets stuck at boot, but is not a kernel panic ( flashing capslock key )02:21
JanCthey key flashes?   :P02:24

dandelhmm... might be wrong on that one... either way, waited until just now to reboot after trying 2.6.25 again.02:37

MezHey. my kernel seems to be crashing aon a t1500 celeron dual core, last message is marking tsc unstable due to tsc halts in idle10:31
MezI can get it working with "apci=ht noapic" 10:31
Mezbut that's exactly the best solution, seeing as it's a laptop10:31
Mezany suggestions?10:31
aboSamoorI filed this bug 341625 , what is the info needed ?10:31

iahello. I have a kernel config, which i use for compilation each new jaunty linux kernel. On previous versions (before 8.27) cpu freqency scaling works fine, but at later kernels this feature unavailable (i use asus eeepc 901). But at generic kernel scaling still works fine; so, looks like that for enabling this feature in my custom kernel i should enable some other (new?) option in config, but what exactly option? I will be very appreciate for any clues.10:53
iaor, in any words, i would like to know, which exactly config option/module enables in latest kernels cpu frequency scaling feature for eee pc 901 hardware?11:00
amitkia: What processor does the eeepc have?11:06
iaamitk: intel atom n27011:06
amitkia: do you need the custom config for other reasons or only for cpufreq?11:07
iaamitk: for other also :-)11:08
amitkia: there were some changes made in cpufreq configs between -8.27 and the current -9. We are reviewing those changes now11:08
amitkia: what is the current governor set to?11:13
amitkand the current driver to?11:14
amitk/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_driver11:14
iaamitk: >what is the current governor set to? // "performance" ; >scaling_driver // "acpi-cpufreq" ; and here section from my config with cpufreq related info - http://paste.ubuntu.com/130113 ; i've looked into generic config - there CONFIG_X86_ACPI_CPUFREQ have set as "Y"; so, maybe in this problem - i should try to change m to y in my config, but in my "make gconfig" configuration ACPI_CPUFREQ available only as module - y unavailable (maybe because some r11:27
iaelated for y-option modules disabled)11:27
MezQuestion: if I put in nolapic, my system only shows 1 cpu, but i have dual core. Does this mean I'm only using one core??11:30
amitkia: could you boot with -8.27 and check the values of scaling driver and scaling governor?11:38
iaamitk: well, i've just run sudo modprobe acpi-cpufreq, and scaling started working. I've added acpi-cpufreq in /etc/modules, reboot system, and frequency just works now. It's strange, that at previous versions scaling works without adding module in /etc/modules. However, sorry for worrying and thanks you very much for help :-)11:52
iaamitk: and another small question about this topic - so, if system uses acpi-cpufreq module, so can i safely remove from config X86_SPEEDSTEP_* modules?12:02
amitkia: that is what is done in the -9 kernels. acpi-cpufreq is built-in (not a module) and given more precedence over SPEEDSTEP12:04

lod_hi, i've just noticed that there's no more /etc/modprobe.d/aliases12:10
lod_in jaunty devel12:11
lod_is there any replacement?12:11
lod_is it safe to rename aliases.dpkg-bak to aliases.conf ?12:12

lod_no arch12:12

lod_i've got basic info on initrd12:13
lod_no knolege to mess with it12:14
lod_also another Q.12:16
lod_i've noticed that upon reboot, the system only reload fresh kernel12:16
lod_no BIOS or hardware reboot12:16
lod_please, how to use full reboot, not only kernel reloading12:43

sashimiHello guys. I hope my question is not to much out of scope of the topic : does the ubuntu kernel (does the vanilla kernel) have eSata hot plug capability ?19:19

Kanohi, i have got a major issue with that ignore-hpa preset in -9 kernel23:21
Kanomy raid does not work when this is default23:22
Kanoon reboot without poweroff it even shows offline members23:22
Kanoand what is also critical: ignore_hpa=0 does not work to set the default behaviour, at least it did not for me, maybe i missed some prefix.23:23
Kanoplease tell the users who currently need that hack to set the jumpers correctly - in many cases they are just set wrong23:24
Kanowith 32 gbyte limit23:24
Kanoand revert the change23:24
