[04:48] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/NetbookLauncherIdeas << submitting this for feedback [07:02] hmm I dunno where to start [07:02] its been awhile :( === ziroday` is now known as ziroday === ziroday_ is now known as ziroday [08:28] Hey Guys what are some projects that need help? I'm new, Id like to help any way I can by giving feedback, artwork..etc. Its going to take me a lil bit to get going in the graphic field again, kinda rusty, and new to gimp and inkspace. Any help is appreciated. I have read the wiki pages and thought it would benefit me if I ask the art members themselves :) [08:29] inkscape* [08:30] hi o0Chris0o [08:30] hi thorwil [08:30] o0Chris0o: you could perhaps help with Breathe [08:31] o0Chris0o: I'm no member, but you probably want to join the mailing list [08:31] if you haven't done so already [08:31] o0Chris0o: for everything else, we are close to a release and you have to set sight on the next, Karmic Koala, already [08:32] thorwil: alright, I take that is the next version after jaunty? [08:32] o0Chris0o: the guys at canonical are working on guidelines, so it's best to wait and see regarding everything. with the excpetion of Breathe, as it's a community effort that is not aligned to the release schedule [08:33] yes [08:33] thorwil: alright thanks for the helpful information :) [08:33] o0Chris0o: being on the mailing list is pretty much a must [08:34] thorwil:I am on it already, I'm quite new so I wouldn't know what to post to the team or what not at this time [08:35] o0Chris0o: you already know the Breath wiki pages? [08:35] breathe, actually [08:35] thorwil: no but I can find them [08:35] o0Chris0o: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/BreatheIconSet [08:36] ahh that will help too :) [08:36] ahh very nice [08:38] o0Chris0o: this effort is headed by Cory K., going as _MMA_ in here. he tends to stay away at weekends [08:40] thorwil: alright, good to know, does ubuntu theme have to be the orange, red, brown theme? [08:41] o0Chris0o: so far it had to, but for Karmic, Mark Shuttleworth mentioned that brown "served us well", but it's time for something new [08:44] Mark Shuttleworth is the founder of of Canonical right? [08:44] yes [08:46] o0Chris0o: do you have examples of the work you did online? [08:47] I'm afraid not, I have been asbent at graphic design for a few years, a little rusty [08:47] I have worked for the local newspaper here where I live as a graphic artist a few years back, doing ad design and layout [08:48] I have a lot of hard copy work I have done over the years , but none on the computer [08:55] I am head to bed, thanks for the info thorwil [08:56] o0Chris0o: np. we are always in need of experienced people :) === Cimi1 is now known as Cimi [22:11] Oh hey, who was it that made the most recent changes to the gdm theme? I actually liked the previous revision better -- the logo was nicely, discreetly nestled in the corner instead of being rather big and in-your-face like the new revision. [22:11] The little login input-box surrounding thing also reminds me a bit much of those old fake-wood station wagons. [22:11] * SiDi thinks it's kwii [22:11] ping kwwii [22:12] I do like the style of the logo, though -- the previous revision was perhaps the nicest ubuntu login theme I've seen. Nice and easy on the eyes, and such. [22:14] Sounds like everyone's afk. [22:14] Anyway, I figured such random comments don't quite make an ordinary bug report. =þ [22:14] I didn't see what changed in the gdm, btw [22:15] Compare the old background to the new one. The logo got way bigger, and moved up a lot. [22:15] It's more "in-your-face", as I'd call it. [22:16] I didn't even notice [22:16] did it just happen ? :P [22:17] Yeah, in recent updates as of yesterday. [22:18] I was even using the gdm background as my wallpaper for a while on one of my older systems. [22:18] My current wallpaper on my modern laptop does the day-fade thing: [22:18] http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/~dgoyette/hp-slideshow.tar.lzma [22:19] Has to go in /usr/share/backgrounds, and I haven't set it up for the non-widescreen res. I hacked at Fedora's Solar thingy. [22:19] 14.5mb wallpaper ? [22:19] Er, lemme see if I just post it as a dir instead. [22:20] i'm 12 mins from FINALLY having that OpenSolaris LiveCD [22:20] * SiDi is excited [22:21] Oh yeah, I tried the OpenSolaris 2008 LiveCD.... it failed at lots of my hardware. [22:23] I just wanna learn how to compile my meant-to-be-cross-platform-bittorren-client :D [22:23] Intel wifi not work, not new enough radeon driver (thus used vesa), and no working hda audio. [22:24] http://www.csc.calpoly.edu/~dgoyette/hp-slideshow [22:26] wide is the only one I've set up. [22:27] hehehe radeon drivers.. :P [22:27] I'm using the open-source radeon driver from git, on my HD3650. [22:27] fglrx has only ever worked for me for ONE version of fglrx. [22:28] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/314600 [22:28] Ubuntu bug 314600 in fglrx-installer "fglrx versions newer than 8.543 cause system hang and panic" [Undecided,Fix released] [22:28] not fixed. [22:28] I'm not sure what to mark it. [22:28] They must be desperate... and you know, with new xorg and new ati drivers coming, i doubt people will work on old drivers' bugs [22:29] The problem is, the brand new 8.600 is just as broken! [22:29] They marked it fixed without even asking. =þ [22:29] Anyway, sort of off-topic for this channel. [22:29] I do like having my wallpaper change color over the day -- that'd be something cool for the Ubuntu art-workers (yeah, not a great word) to look into. [22:30] there's a script that updates the wallpaper, right ? [22:30] It's an xml file, so libgnome-bg (or something like that) does it automatically. [22:31] It fades over the course of two hours. [22:32] Okies :) [22:32] I need to go, see you
