Aleksey_Si am using ubuntu jaunty, and after latest update orca screenreader stoped working09:58
Aleksey_Swhat i can to do?10:02
araAleksey_S: have you rebooted after latest update?10:02
Aleksey_Syes10:03
araAleksey_S: the rest of the sound system works correctly?10:03
Aleksey_Sfor now i can only work with yasr console screen reader10:03
Aleksey_Syes10:04
Aleksey_Si tried start orca from console (just to see what will happen)10:04
Aleksey_Sand python traceback appears10:04
araAleksey_S: what is the traceback?10:05
Aleksey_Si cann't copy it to you, because i am now from windows - but here was about orbit.so library10:05
araAleksey_S: when did you update your installation?10:05
z1d4n3Hi, is this the right place to ask for help with the 9.04 beta?10:05
Aleksey_Swhat do you mean?10:05
Aleksey_Si always upgrading with aptitude safe-upgrade10:06
araAleksey_S: ah, you upgraded from intrepid?10:06
Aleksey_Si did it last time may be half hour ago10:06
Aleksey_Sno10:06
Aleksey_Si installed clean jaunty 9.04 alpha6 and updating every day10:07
z1d4n3Where should I go?10:07
araAleksey_S: can you file a bug with "ubuntu-bug gnome-orca"10:07
Aleksey_Show i can do that? i haven't access to gui now10:08
araAleksey_S: through the console "apport-cli -f -p gnome-orca"10:09
araz1d4n3: #ubuntu+1 is the place10:09
Aleksey_Salso, i have russian localization installed, and yasr screen reader cann't use espeak russian voice - so even in console output from most commands isn't accessible - it is in russian10:09
Aleksey_Scan you describe what will happen after? becouse i guess i willn't be able to read output of that command10:10
Aleksey_Swill it ask me something?10:11
araAleksey_S: I am afraid it will10:12
Aleksey_Sdo you remember what exactly?10:13
arafirst, it will ask you to send the report, you have to answer "S" that's easy, but then, it will ask you to log in to launchpad (in a console based browser)10:14
araAleksey_S: let me try one thing10:14
Aleksey_Spretty cool10:14
araAleksey_S: let's try one thing. Wait a couple of minutes10:15
araAleksey_S: I'll get back to you10:15
Aleksey_Smay be i can save output on the usb stick and then access it from windows to send it to you10:15
araAleksey_S: no, no. Just one sec.10:16
Aleksey_Soh ok, i will wait10:16
araAleksey_S: can you access your jaunty installation anyway, can you?10:16
araAleksey_S: at least through the command line10:17
Aleksey_Si can boot it, press alt+ctrl+f110:17
Aleksey_Slogin into console and start yasr10:17
araAleksey_S: ok. Which is your launchpad id?10:18
Aleksey_Sbut most of the command have output in russian - yasr can't read that10:18
araAleksey_S: no problem, it would be easy10:18
Aleksey_Si don't know. how i can get that?10:18
Aleksey_Si have account on launchpad10:18
araAleksey_S: that's what I mean, your launchpad account name10:18
Aleksey_Slex@onm.su10:19
araAleksey_S: OK. Done. Now, through the command line type "apport-collect 349480". That will add the necessary information to the bug.10:21
Aleksey_Swill it ask something?10:21
araAleksey_S: it won't10:22
Aleksey_Sok, i will reboot and try. after i will be back10:22
araAleksey_S: OK10:22
Aleksey_Sdone10:44
Aleksey_Sit will be not so easy you describet10:44
Aleksey_Sit started w3m browser and asked me to login10:44
Aleksey_Safter it asked what access i want give for the apport-collect10:45
VK7HSEHi... I have installed a fresh copy of jaunty unr on my Eee PC 701sd I have noticed that the touchpad is very sluggish and seems to jump around the screen a little I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed similar ???10:45
Aleksey_Si am not sure i clicked correct links, i was very surprised that yasr gave me access to w3m10:45
Aleksey_Sbut after all adventures, it said to me that new attachment was created and uploaded, so see bug 34948010:46
ubot4Launchpad bug 349480 in gnome-orca "Orca stopped working with the latest updates" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/34948010:46
davmor2Hi heno beta's out then :)10:51
davmor2is any one having issue with audio again?10:52

davmor2ara: I got no gnome-volume-applet this morning10:53
aradavmor2: I have10:53
* davmor2 hits box with hammer10:53
Aleksey_Sara: is there something i can help to resolve this bug as fast as possible? becouse for now i can't work with my linux at all.11:03
araAleksey_S: well, I am not expert in debugging orca issues. Jaunty is in development and, therefore, it is not meant to be used as a main system11:05
araAleksey_S: bugs are expected...11:05
Aleksey_Syes, i know11:05
thekornAleksey_S, I think there is a good chance you are affected by bug 34946711:05
ubot4Launchpad bug 349467 in python2.6 "update-manager fails to install todays updates due to "undefined symbol: PyUnicodeUCS4_DecodeUTF8"" [Critical,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/34946711:05
thekornyou have python2.6 2.6.1-1ubuntu5 installed, which  is known to be broken11:06
Aleksey_Syes11:06
Aleksey_Sso i can just install latest updates?11:06
thekornso maybe this is not a bug in ocra itself11:06
Aleksey_S"fix released" mean that fix is allready in repo, right?11:07
thekornAleksey_S, wait a bit, the fix has been uploaded, but maybe not published on your archive mirror11:08
Aleksey_Show many i need?11:08
Aleksey_Si am using ua mirror11:08
thekornAleksey_S, https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python2.6/2.6.1-1ubuntu5.1 shows that the fix ist still building11:09
Aleksey_S*goes to try updates11:10
Aleksey_Sah ok11:10
thekornso you have to wait at least until the package has been published for your architecture11:11
Aleksey_Sthanks a lot11:11
Aleksey_Sand if update will fix this, what i mean to do to notify that this is result of 349467 bug?11:13
thekornAleksey_S, leave a comment at your bug, and either mark your bug as a duplicate of the other one or mark your bug as invalid11:17
loffeHello folks! I'm thinking of doing the suspend testing on my laptop. Now I'm wondering if I need to make a full install, or can I run it from within a LiveUSB?11:23
abelsoareshi all12:03
davmor2Hello12:04
abelsoaresso, i am interested in became an ubuntu tester12:04
abelsoareswhat do i have to do?12:04
davmor2abelsoares: What are you interested in testing?12:05
abelsoares\msg davmor2 so maibe stuff like multimedia apps, etc12:08
davmor2abelsoares: you can go here to learn some more https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing  If your interest is in testing the cd's so they can be released then go here http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/ and sign up.  Also every Monday we are starting to run testing days which is probably the easiest way to start12:11
abelsoares\msg davmor2 ok, i certainly will read that and sign up12:12
davmor2See you all latter12:40
Shane_FaganHi I was trying to test the suspend and resume that the kernel team asked for in the mailing list and it failed. I couldnt shutdown the computer so I turned it off manually. When I booted back up apport picked up on the crash but when I tried to upload the crash report nothing happened. Update manager, software sources and deskbar applet is also not working.13:07
Shane_FaganAny ideas on whats wrong?13:10
araShane_Fagan: apt-cache policy python13:12
araShane_Fagan: what do you get13:12
Shane_Faganpython:13:13
Shane_Fagan  Installed: 2.6.1-0ubuntu613:13
Shane_Fagan  Candidate: 2.6.1-0ubuntu613:13
Shane_Fagan  Version table:13:13
Shane_Fagan *** 2.6.1-0ubuntu6 013:13
Shane_Fagan        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages13:13
Shane_Fagan        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status13:13
arammm, I thought it might be because 2.6.1-0ubuntu5 was broken13:16
Shane_FaganI didnt get any errors updating and I only started to get problems after trying the suspend tests13:18
Shane_FaganIf that helps13:18
araShane_Fagan: yes, I don't think it is related to suspend/resume13:18
araShane_Fagan: you might have started to have problems because you actually rebooted13:19
Shane_FaganI understand13:19
Shane_Faganara: after looking into whats not working. It is the programs that use python that dont work all the rest seem to work fine.13:24
aramvo_: ^13:24
Shane_Faganmvo_: Any ideas?13:33
mvo_Shane_Fagan: broken python? that is a known issue, the fix for python2.6 just got published13:40
Shane_FaganWell apt-cache policy python came back normal so the package isnt broken13:41
mvo_Shane_Fagan: could you please check what version of python2.6 you have?13:42
mvo_Shane_Fagan: and check if you can update that to -1ubuntu5.1 ?13:42
Shane_Fagancandidate is -1ubuntu5.1 ill see if it fixes the problem13:44
Shane_Faganmvo_: Fixed thanks for the help13:47
mvo_cheers14:00
xivulonHi all, i would appreciate some heavy testing on wubi since it is a complete rewrite (if you still have a windows partition/vm somewhere, that's a good reason to use it)14:00
xivulondavmor2, has been very helpful so far, but the more the merrier14:01
xivulonPlease see also: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=110795014:02
Shane_Faganogasawara: my computer failed the suspend resume test do I need to add it to the wiki?14:11
Shane_Faganogasawara: Im asking because it failed to log the testing but apport caught it.14:13
ogasawaraShane_Fagan: yes, if you could add it to the wiki that would be great.  also there's a column in the wiki for you to reference the bug# which would be great.14:35
Shane_Faganogasawara: Thanks14:35
marctwwAnyone here have experience with what looks like a redraw-bug with nvidia-177.82 driver in Ubuntu 8.10?14:59
Shane_Faganmarctww: This channel is for testing ubuntu for support of previous releases ask you question in #ubuntu15:08

jardihi all19:46
jardiI'm trying to respond to the call for suspend/hibernate testing, but I have some questions.19:47
jardithe test says "machine will suspend for 20 seconds", does it means that the machine will resume itself after 20 sec ? or do I need to do something to wake it up ?19:49
jardiAnd by the way, (I never used the suspend/resume thing) how do I resume from a suspend the nice way ?19:50

imme-emosolAfter an update today I am thrown to busybox.21:47
imme-emosolIt says it cannot find my disk.21:47
imme-emosolAnd it suggests me to look at modules.21:47
imme-emosolI have already concluded that ubuntu-latest is not for me , but I thought to sit it out until the end...21:48
imme-emosolThat is , until jaunty is released.21:48
imme-emosolBut this is quite problematic , and I don't really know how to solve it.21:49
imme-emosolIs it a known problem?21:49
