[00:22] hi [00:23] hi [00:23] can anyone help me with mythubuntu? === root is now known as Guest81072 [00:24] hi [00:24] can anyone help with mythubuntu? [00:27] hello? [00:32] !ask Guest81072 [00:32] Sorry I don't know about ask Guest81072 [00:32] !ask | Guest81072 [00:32] Guest81072: Please don't ask if anyone is around or if it is alright to ask a question. Many people check back periodically and may answer your question when they see it. IRC is not normally an instant fix so check back often for an answer. [00:35] so ive added mythubuntu to ubuntu 8.10 and it gets no upnp backends found. how can i fix that? [00:35] what did you install on ubuntu 8.10? [00:36] mythubuntu [00:36] how did you install it though? [00:36] from the iso, synaptic, apt-get? [00:36] on the main page, it has an add option [00:36] it would be synaptic [00:37] are you saying you used this http://mythbuntu.org/existing-ubuntu [00:38] or you just selected packages to install from synaptic? [00:38] the link you given [00:38] ive clicked on the mythubuntu logo [00:39] ok, so you installed mythbuntu-desktop [00:39] do you have a mythtv backend anywhere on your network? [00:40] or is this a single machine setup? [00:40] can you tell me what is mythtv backend? im a little noob for this sorry [00:40] ok, so mythtv is built as a client/server model [00:40] yes [00:41] where the client is used to watch shows, and the server is used for things like recording shows [00:41] so it would seem you don't have a backend setup (the server portion) [00:41] so open up mythbuntu control centre, and tell it to install the backend (if you want this all on the same machine) [00:41] then you will need to run mythtv-setup and set the backend up [00:41] okay [00:42] read this http://mythbuntu.org/installation_manual it should help you along the way [00:42] how can i run the mythtv-setup? simply run the application? [00:42] thanks [00:42] i see now the setup [00:43] after it downloaded the backends [00:43] ok, next problem :) [00:43] right, after it downloads and installs the backend, you can run mythtv-setup [00:44] running the setup, the screen is glitchy, messed up, and i cannot read a thing on it [00:44] ati card? [00:44] yes :) [00:45] are you updated? [00:45] in ubuntu ive allowed the restricted hardware and it downloaded the driver [00:45] i hope its the latest [00:45] sec [00:49] Guest81072, what is your screen resolution? [00:50] 1366x768 [00:51] ok, try adding "export LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=True" to /etc/mythtv/session-settings [00:52] done :) ive been reading forums, and i added this. the application will start normaly, but this setup wont [00:52] have you rebooted since adding that? [00:52] nope [00:53] should i try? [00:54] perhaps [00:54] i'd try it [00:54] okay, be back in a second === root is now known as Guest84888 [00:58] hi, im back [00:58] its the same :( [00:58] I'm migrating my heavily modified lircd.conf and lircrc from gentoo to ubuntu. I have a MCE USB tuner with a Comcast Custom 3 remote, and two blasters controlling a Samsung LCD TV and a Aiwa surround reciever. What's the best way of using my exisitng lircd.conf and lircrc and making them "stick"? [00:58] hmm [00:59] Guest84888, maybe try doing "mythtv-setup --geometry 1266x767" [01:00] in the session-settings? [01:00] no [01:00] from the command line [01:00] okay [01:00] and make that 1366x767 [01:01] same :( [01:02] could it be that my video card is not compatible with this application? [01:08] also, when i launch mythtv i can see the screen, but not the mouse [01:08] which ati card? [01:08] yea, I think thats by design [01:09] i have an ati mobility radeon hd 3470 [01:15] hmm [01:16] Guest84888, not sure, maybe try the open source drivers would be my next guess [01:16] i've never had particular luck with ati cards [01:16] is this setup part of mythtv has own session-settings file? [01:17] so i can insert this always indirect command there too [01:17] well that is a system wide change we made [01:17] its an environment variable [01:18] i see :( [01:20] well anyways, thanks for all the help [01:21] i will try something [01:22] bye [02:47] I'm migrating my heavily modified lircd.conf and lircrc from gentoo to ubuntu.
