ZinnIf you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, you can perform the following to reconfigure it: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it for the next step) 2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database 3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common02:58
joker_-_I've lost the menu in the fornt-end. I use OpenGL rendering and I eard that switching to QT would solve the problem. How the hell can I switch to QT wihout going into the menu? I searched the config file but theres nothing about opengl or QT or whatever...03:36
Zinnjoker_-_: Please watch your language.03:36
hads"mythfrontend -O ThemePainter=qt" from memory03:37
joker_-_lets try that and se if you've got a great memory :)03:38
joker_-_awesome memory indeed :)03:39
joker_-_worked like a charm. Thanks03:39
hadsCool. No problem.03:40
joker_-_any idea whats the problem?03:40
joker_-_with opengl I mean03:40
hadsNope sorry.03:41
joker_-_well, I think i can live without the fancy fade-in fade-out ;)03:41
joker_-_besides, I have that problem since I swiched my mediacenter computer. The screen is slightly larger than the physical screen.03:42
joker_-_I read it's a common problem with nvidia tv-out03:42
hadsYeah, it's called overscan. You should be able to adjust that with nvidia-settings03:43
joker_-_anyone here has an idea bout a tru fix rather than resize the mythtv theme?03:43
joker_-_hads: sadly, I can't figure out how to03:43
joker_-_I tryed several things but nothing worked03:43
joker_-_apparently they disabled overscan feature in newer drivers03:43
hadsOh. Bummer.03:43
joker_-_the drivers says the lines are ignored (when forcing it in the xorg conf)03:44
joker_-_and theres nothing about it in the gui configuration tool03:44
hadsI don't actually use TV out myself currently so probably won't be of much help03:44
joker_-_yeah... should buy a newer tv :(03:44
hadsIf you do get one with VGA - it's still easier to use than HDMI :)03:45
joker_-_I guess... I have no hdmi-out on that video card...03:45
joker_-_Altho the tv Imma get will be a gift so, I'll do with whatever it'll be03:45
hadsSounds like you can do overscan settings in the 173 driver03:46
joker_-_for real?03:47
joker_-_damn Imma revert back to that... I'm almost certain I tryed tho :/03:47
Zinnjoker_-_: Please watch your language.03:47
joker_-_that bot is kinda sensitive03:47
hadsIt is. It's a G rated channel though.03:47
hads(like all Ubuntu ones)03:48
joker_-_yeah I understand... it's an other debate but I'm a believer that if you can access IRC, you've probably seen worse than a few swears ;)03:48
hadsTHat may not be true about the 173 driver03:48
MythbuntuGuest46hads ---  not getting MYSQL to work with the !mysql commands03:48
joker_-_I have the lastest available driver, installed manually... what would be the right way of de-installing it?03:49
joker_-_and all traces of kernel driver and all03:49
hadsYeah, don't install it manually.03:49
hadsI don't know how to remove it.03:49
joker_-_nvidia must provide some sort of uninstall.. ill check it out03:49
hadsDunno, time to get back to work anyway.03:50
MythbuntuGuest46hads: Unable to get MythTV-Setup to run.  No UPnD backend found.  any ideas?  tried running the 3 commands (!mysql)03:50

vance4cSo i have a working backend and several working frontends.  But here is the problem, the backend is at work and I want a frontend at home. I have a direct link to work network via a canopy wireless device.  It has good bandwith about 4mb/s but with to much lag for a true front end or streaming anything.  I have used myth for a while but i don't know all it can do. I just use the basic features.  Is there any advice or solutions I don't know abo04:23

LouisHello!  Just a quick question before I undertake something potentially stupid... Is it generaly safe to replace mythbuntu's xfce's window manager with a lighterweight one such as ratpoison or fluxbox?23:37
Louis*xfce, even23:37
LouisI guess the real question is will tihis cause any sort of instability?23:38
hadsShould be fine. I've used ratpoison on Ubuntu/Mythbuntu in the past23:42
