[02:40] Having a problem with getting NEW BUILD to setup'\ [02:41] Stup at trying to get MythBackend Setup - NO UPnP Backend found.... Then get cannot login to database. [02:42] Have tried reinstalling software... nothing.... [02:43] Tried Removing and Enabling MythBackend from MCC.... Additionally have disabled MySQL from MCC. [02:47] Anyone online that could provide any help! [02:49] Tried sudo apt-get install mysql-server-5.0 [02:49] Left password blank [02:50] !help [02:50] !help For a complete list of my knowledge visit: http://www.baablogic.net/Zinn.cgi Other available commands: !status, !about, !bug [bug_number]. [02:53] http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/f248e6a3e [02:58] !mysql [02:58] If you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, you can perform the following to reconfigure it: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it for the next step) 2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database 3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common [03:36] I've lost the menu in the fornt-end. I use OpenGL rendering and I eard that switching to QT would solve the problem. How the hell can I switch to QT wihout going into the menu? I searched the config file but theres nothing about opengl or QT or whatever... [03:36] joker_-_: Please watch your language. [03:37] "mythfrontend -O ThemePainter=qt" from memory [03:38] lets try that and se if you've got a great memory :) [03:39] awesome memory indeed :) [03:39] worked like a charm. Thanks [03:40] Cool. No problem. [03:40] any idea whats the problem? [03:40] with opengl I mean [03:41] Nope sorry. [03:41] well, I think i can live without the fancy fade-in fade-out ;) [03:42] besides, I have that problem since I swiched my mediacenter computer. The screen is slightly larger than the physical screen. [03:42] I read it's a common problem with nvidia tv-out [03:43] Yeah, it's called overscan. You should be able to adjust that with nvidia-settings [03:43] anyone here has an idea bout a tru fix rather than resize the mythtv theme? [03:43] hads: sadly, I can't figure out how to [03:43] I tryed several things but nothing worked [03:43] apparently they disabled overscan feature in newer drivers [03:43] Oh. Bummer. [03:44] the drivers says the lines are ignored (when forcing it in the xorg conf) [03:44] and theres nothing about it in the gui configuration tool [03:44] I don't actually use TV out myself currently so probably won't be of much help [03:44] yeah... should buy a newer tv :( [03:45] If you do get one with VGA - it's still easier to use than HDMI :) [03:45] I guess... I have no hdmi-out on that video card... [03:45] Altho the tv Imma get will be a gift so, I'll do with whatever it'll be [03:46] Sounds like you can do overscan settings in the 173 driver [03:47] for real? [03:47] damn Imma revert back to that... I'm almost certain I tryed tho :/ [03:47] joker_-_: Please watch your language. [03:47] that bot is kinda sensitive [03:47] It is. It's a G rated channel though. [03:48] (like all Ubuntu ones) [03:48] yeah I understand... it's an other debate but I'm a believer that if you can access IRC, you've probably seen worse than a few swears ;) [03:48] THat may not be true about the 173 driver [03:48] hads --- not getting MYSQL to work with the !mysql commands [03:49] I have the lastest available driver, installed manually... what would be the right way of de-installing it? [03:49] and all traces of kernel driver and all [03:49] Yeah, don't install it manually. [03:49] I don't know how to remove it. [03:49] nvidia must provide some sort of uninstall.. ill check it out [03:50] Dunno, time to get back to work anyway. [03:50] hads: Unable to get MythTV-Setup to run. No UPnD backend found. any ideas? tried running the 3 commands (!mysql) [03:50] thanks, I'll be back to tell you whats up with that if I have to reboot [03:51] hads: yup: nvidia-uninstall and poof, gone [03:51] hads: imma reboot [04:02] hads: nope, no luck [04:02] well , nothing in the GUI about overscan [04:02] any other toughts? === joker is now known as Joker_-_ === hads is now known as a_new_nick === a_new_nick is now known as hads [04:23] So i have a working backend and several working frontends. But here is the problem, the backend is at work and I want a frontend at home. I have a direct link to work network via a canopy wireless device. It has good bandwith about 4mb/s but with to much lag for a true front end or streaming anything. I have used myth for a while but i don't know all it can do. I just use the basic features. Is there any advice or solutions I don't know abo [11:50] is it possible to run mythtv on ubuntu as a media server only, with not tv capture device? [23:25] vid card? [23:30] ATI Radeon HD 3400 [23:37] Hello! Just a quick question before I undertake something potentially stupid... Is it generaly safe to replace mythbuntu's xfce's window manager with a lighterweight one such as ratpoison or fluxbox? [23:37] *xfce, even [23:38] I guess the real question is will tihis cause any sort of instability? [23:42] Should be fine. I've used ratpoison on Ubuntu/Mythbuntu in the past
