RainCTHi18:07
RainCTIs there a 2.6.29 kernel or something other than the default one packaged for Jaunty?18:07
amitkRainCT: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/18:13
RainCTamitk: thanks18:14
amitkRainCT: these are not officially supported, but are packaged for your convenience. They are strictly upstream kernels and we will not accept any bugs filed against them.18:14
RainCTUhm.. Is there some way to remount / without restart if «sudo mount -o remount,rw /» tells me that the device is write-protected?18:20
Rnemohi, may i ask a question on a kernel module here?19:02
nodeboyi'm wondering if someone could give me a comentary on the following when im running vbox with default swapiness a large amount of page file is used if i set swapiness to 0 then a small amount is used (well ok thats kinda obvious i guess) what i'd like to know is there anything to stop the vbox process being swapped or is there some sort of page hint that could be assigned to the vbox memory to prevent them being swapped 20:51
savvashello, I was just wondering if there was a discussion about setting kernel's timer frequency to 1000 for desktop kernels? Does it actually optimize the system in speed? Would there be any downsides if this was implemented in -generic?22:25
savvasI'm not very keen on kernel compiling, I was just wondering about the 1000hz on a desktop system, as it is the recommended one as far as I can see: http://cateee.net/lkddb/web-lkddb/HZ_1000.html - and of course, why is 250hz favoured?22:33
