macoso i've got an interesting situation. X (with -intel for i965) was working great on an install that was upgraded from intrepid to jaunty alpha 2 and onward. i did a clean install, and now it crashes after only running for a few minutes...but not on a live cd23:34
macofirst time i've ever heard of a clean install making things worse23:34
brycemaco: did you report a bug?23:35
maconot yet, i just switched to live cd a half hour ago to see if itd keep happening23:37
macotried installing l-b-m too figuring maybe i had that on the upgraded system23:37
macoim trying to figure if there's any other stuff to check that could put it in the "configuration issue" category23:38
brycewell you know the drill... collect a backtrace, report a bug, etc.23:38
macook23:38
macohrm...wait if its locking not going away completely, can i still get a backtrace? it's doing the freeze-but-mouse-moves thing23:42
james_wis that compiz freezing?23:51
james_wdo you have an ssh server running on that machine?23:51
macoi dont have compiz on here23:52
james_wah, sorry23:52
macobut i did have kwin running with compositing...23:52
james_wis that kwin freezing? :-)23:52
macowell i cant click anything when it does that, nor switch to a VT23:52
macoand xcompmgr was working fine on the upgraded install for the last week23:53
macothe only thing i can think of is that i had greedy set on the upgraded install and hadnt added that yet on the clean install. but i dont think it's set onthe live cd which is running fine, so...23:54
