[00:36] hi, i think a wiki can be erroneus === pace_t_zulu_ is now known as pace_t_zulu === nhandler is now known as Guest21024 === lacqui_ is now known as lacqui [18:50] evening all [19:01] Hi [20:55] mdke, i made it :) [20:56] Rocket2DMn: awesome, right on time [20:57] I assume you have something laid out on how you are going to proceed? [20:57] I'm available to answer questions and whatnot [20:57] yeah, I am going to paste from some notes [20:57] then you can chip in where you feel the need, and answer some questions [20:58] ok, do you have your outline online somewhere? [20:59] Rocket2DMn: no, but I will paste it, hang on [21:00] http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/160187/ <-- a few gaps which i will fill in by hand [21:00] cool [21:36] Rocket2DMn: sorry to have sprung that SoD thing on you without notice, it just occurred to me as a good point to do some publicity :) [21:36] its ok [21:36] im finished [21:36] great [21:54] good job Rocket2DMn, thanks for picking me up on those things [21:54] how do you do the whitespace line? [21:54] no problem, good session mdke [21:55] just use a space [21:55] try it out [21:55] [21:55] doh [21:56] thanks :) [21:56] sure thing [21:56] now i gtg do laundry :( [22:18] A couple of questions about uploading wiki graphics, if someone can answer. [22:18] sure [22:19] we can try :) [22:19] Hey, first, I enjoyed your presentation. I couldn't make it live but logged on just before it started and just reviewed it. [22:19] great, I'm very pleased you enjoyed it [22:19] I'm on the BT and wiki focus group with Rocket. Last summer I did a major revision of the repositories wiki. [22:20] cool, good to have you on board and nice to meet you [22:20] Questions about pic uploads. First, it there a standard naming convention for the uploaded graphics? [22:20] no, not currently [22:20] I ended up naming them several ways and felt it was really inefficient. [22:20] do you think that it would be helpful? [22:21] Well, as a new wiki editor I had no clue about naming conventions. [22:21] mdke: Are the picture names used in enough places to actually matter? [22:21] normally the image is just used once, on a specific page [22:21] As I learned I was revising them a lot and uploaded a bunch before I was satisfied. Apparently you can't replace one that is already posted? [22:21] occasionally we have icons that get reused though [22:22] ds305: to replace one, you have to delete it and reupload, I think [22:22] I wasn't able to delete. Is that limited to mods or whomever? [22:22] That was one of the things I felt badly about - keep uploading minor variations of the same thing. [22:23] hmm [22:23] Of course, now I know enough to get it right the first time. (Well, maybe the second). [22:24] do you have a "del" button on the left of the attachments here - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/IconsPage?action=AttachFile [22:24] No, just get and view. [22:24] ok, I guess it's limited then [22:24] that's a bit of a shame [22:24] So it must be limited. [22:24] we should look into changing that [22:25] I can understand why just anyone can't delete a graphic, but if you saw the list on the repositories wiki I bet I had version 7 of some of the first ones. ;-) [22:25] well, I think it's reasonable to allow anyone to delete them [22:26] Perhaps you can bring it up to whoever decides those things. [22:26] And I promise if I get the power I will delete about 30 uploads. :-) [22:26] we can take the decision as a team [22:27] the tricky bit is to get the admins of the server to make the change [22:27] and to figure out how to do it :) [22:27] Implementation is usually harder than coming up with an idea. [22:27] Thanks for your time. [22:27] yeah [22:27] thanks for yours! [23:45] does the community wiki have support for apt: URLs? === philip- is now known as philip_ [23:52] jgoguen: Yes [23:52] jgoguen: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-doc/2009-April/012674.html [23:52] ty nhandler
