mccannhi anyone know what the last working version of the UNR live image is?  the current one seems to segfault on boot23:19
bratscheNeil would know, but he's probably asleep.23:28
bratscheEither that or getting drunk. :)23:28
bratscheHang on, I'll take a quick peek around and see if he's here.23:28
bratschemccann: He said you should just use the Jaunty image for now.23:34
bratschemccann: But don't use the desktop switcher he said.23:34
mccannok - trying that now :)  thanks23:34
mccannyeah realized that the first one i tried is a nightly...23:34
bratscheHe didn't seem to be aware of the segfault happening, but we have All Hands this week and it's hard to get much time for hacking right now.23:35
mccannok - yeah bailed out into the initrd busybox23:35
bratscheNext week is UDS, and I'm not sure if it will be much better for hacking.. I hope so. :)23:35
mccannis there a channel for UNR stuff or is it ok to talk about it here?23:36
mccannonce the meeting is over that is23:36
bratscheYou can talk about it here.  There might be another channel that I'm not aware of though.23:36
bratscheBut njpatel is the guy to talk to, and I think he hangs out here.23:36
mccanncurious about UNR vs. moblin - your views etc23:36
bratscheI don't have views yet, I haven't even seen the moblin videos yet.23:37
bratscheI think I'm the only person who hasn't. :)23:37
mccanni'm doing a bit of side by side now23:37
mccann(or trying to) :)23:37
bratscheI've heard some talk from other people, but been busy with events at All Hands and trying to find hacking time in between everything so I keep forgetting to try to look at it.23:37
mccannyup the jaunty one boots fine - thanks!23:40
bratscheNice!23:40
bratschemccann: So I'm moving out of Baltimore again already. :)23:41
bratscheThat didn't last long ;)23:41
mccannoh yeah - to where?23:41
bratscheEh, just back to Dallas.  I kind of like east coast better, but just decided Baltimore was only cool when I was in school.  Now I don't like it so much.23:41
mccannah23:42
mccannit is a odd place23:42
mccann*an23:42
bratscheI was sort of not enjoying it too much, and then a few weeks ago some guys attacked me and I was like, "wtf am I here for again??"23:42
mccannoh jeez23:42
bratschebleh23:43
mccannthat's awful23:43
bratscheI know stuff like that happens in any city, but it feels like it happens more there than other places I've been.23:44
bratscheOne guy I know got held up at gunpoint right next to the Walters Art Museum on Charles St.. which I thought was a relatively decent part of town.23:44
mccannwell yes and no23:44
mccanna lot of people see the charles village area as a target23:45
mccannsame with mt vernon23:45
bratscheI guess because of schools nearby.23:45
mccannyeah23:45
ScottKIt kind of goes with being in the city I think.23:45
mccannperceptions of race and class23:45
bratscheWhich is probably why Baltimore feels so ghetto and crappy to me, since those are the areas I've been in most. :)23:45
* ScottK went to college in Philadelphoa and same story there.23:45
ScottKphoa/phia23:45
bratscheI'm sure there are nicer areas, and I just haven't been to them.23:45
bratscheScottK: Yeah, I've heard that about Philly but the areas I've been to there seemed nice.  So I'm sure it's just as mccann says.23:46
ScottKI was recently back in west Philly for the first time in a long time and it's a lot nicer than it used to be, but there are still clearly areas not to be out late in.23:47
bratschemccann: How's Boston?  It always seems really nice there to me.23:47
* ScottK lives west of Baltimore, BTW.23:47
mccannboston is great23:47
bratscheScottK: Oh cool.  I'm kind of in Mt. Vernon / downtown23:47
ScottKbratsche: I'm in Ellicott City23:48
bratscheCool, I've heard of that.23:48
bratscheBut not been there.23:48
mccannbratsche: so i heard that you've been looking into client side decorations23:48
bratschemccann: Yeah, a bit.  I started with some code that alexl wrote for directfb, but now I rewrote what I was doing so it's all in GtkWindow proper.23:49
mccanncool23:49
mccanni was talking to krh earlier23:49
mccannbratsche: have you played with gnome-shell at all?23:50
bratscheI want to try to get most of this done (at least the gtk side of it) before the end of UDS.  I got my manager to approve for me to work on the Win32 side of client-side-windows again and finish that, because alexl told me we need to get that done before we can get csw integrated into gtk+23:50
bratschemccann: No, I haven't but I'm kind of interested to play with it more.  I did install it and run it, but I didn't get a chance to look into the code any yet.23:50
bratschemccann: Are you working on gnome-shell?23:52
mccannsomewhat.. mostly on the design23:52
bratscheNice23:52
bratscheI'm on theming-related stuff for the moment, and client-side decorations seemed like an interesting thing to work on in that realm.23:53
mccannfor sure23:53
bratscheAnd it kind of fits into the netbook work somewhat, because we'd like to be able to collapse the titlebar/menubar if possible to save some precious vertical screen space.23:54
bratscheNot sure yet how that's going to work though, but this was kind of a first step.23:54
mccannyeah 23:55
mccannseems to me that there are opportunities to work together here... the shell might be useful on netbooks23:55
bratscheThe only problem is that I'm not sure UNR can commit to a GL requirement all the time.23:56
mccannas neil knows since he was involved in the original design...23:57
bratscheBut Neil really is the person to talk to about this.23:57
mccannoh gl yeah23:57
mccanndo you have a list of devices that you need to support?23:58
bratscheI don't, but Neil might.23:58
mccannwe've been doing a lot of hardware enablement work too23:58
bratscheNice!23:58
