directhexhm13:31
directhexhow important is it for ubuntu to have support for every conceivable LANG by default?13:35
directhexi.e. i can save 800k if we split some of mono's codepage support into Suggests:13:36
directhexsounds like we're moving the "uncomon" stuff to Suggests:13:48
directhexuncommon13:48
directhexi.e. keeping 8859-15 in13:49

vadi2Hi. Is there any documentation on generating trusted .desktops?18:21
chrisccoulsonwhat do you mean?18:25
vadi2Since 9.04, new .desktop files are marked as 'untrusted' by default18:26
chrisccoulsonif you mean by "trusted" that nautilus doesn't bug you about them being not trusted, then they have to have the executable bit set18:26
vadi2Ah.18:26
vadi2thanks a bunch18:28
chrisccoulsonyou're welcome18:28

geiserihi, i am wondering if there is documentation on the exact order that scripts are called during an install/reconfigure and upgrade proces for a debian package.  Chapter 6 of the policy manual confuses me on how they are executed.19:39
ScottKgeiseri: There's a good discussion about it on (IIRC) the Debian Women wiki.  I don't have the exact URL.19:40
maxbThe policy manual is the canonical documentation on this matter19:40
geiseriScottK i can google it, thx19:40
ScottKmaxb: Yes, but not the clearest.19:40
geiserimaxb: im sure it is, that is why i am asking here19:40
geiserimaxb: since its kind of vauge on the exact order of things during a dpkg-reconfigure of a package.19:41
ScottKThe one I mentioned has been pretty thoroughly reviewed.19:41
* geiseri is searching now19:41
geiseriScottK: is this what you had in mind? http://women.debian.org/wiki/English/MaintainerScripts19:46
ScottKgeiseri: Yes.  That's the one.19:46
geisericool, the only thing it is missing is the reconfigure process...19:48
geiserimy point of confusing is that it seems postinst is called during reconfigure, but i cannot tell if prerm is called too19:49
geiserioh another question, what is the sanest way to have something execute on first boot right after a new install?  just add an rc script and remote it when im done running it?20:32
Imwhen is the patch for 945 intel support on 9.04 going to be released??21:39
ScottKIm: #ubuntu-x is probably a better place to ask.21:40
owen1_how to change the keyboard layout from terminal? "InputDevice" section is commentd on xorg.conf, so maybe there is a new way to change things like this?22:15
ScottKowen1_: #ubuntu for support questions22:23
geiserihrm... is there any way to make the preseed post install script run interactively?22:25
ScottKgeiseri: I think you want to look indo debconf22:26
geiseriScottK: i am, but it looks like it runs in the background... i see the log output in the vt4 but the main vt hangs22:27
geiserihrm.. it implies that it can run interactive, but it seems like it cannot...  i wonder if it would just be easier to run it at first startup22:41
