al_paunHi everybody, i have a network with two internet connections ... the problem I'm facing is that the server is a mail server which is set as mx on one of the ip address. When main connection goes down it the route switches to the other one but now I don't receive mails anymore. And when the main goes back the prior one is the backup  one09:07

Sam-I-Amany maintainers for ubuntu server packages here?17:44

al_paunhttp://pastebin.ubuntu.com/181384/17:45
jmedinaSam-I-Am: if you dont get answer here, plase use launchpad17:48
Sam-I-Amyeah i'm actually trying to become a maintainer for openldap17:49
Sam-I-Amfigure i might as well be useful :)17:49
Sam-I-Amsince i'm going to package 2.4.16 for myself anyway17:49
jmedinaSam-I-Am: I cant test your packages17:49
jmedinaSam-I-Am: are you buiding packages for hardy?17:49
Sam-I-Amright now, yes17:50
jmedinalast time I checked 2.4.16 required to upgrade db417:50
Sam-I-Amit does... i built that too17:50
Sam-I-Amalso added some changes for threading17:50
Sam-I-Amanother bug..17:50
jmedinawhat about crossed dependencies?17:50
Sam-I-Amhavent found any yet17:50
jmedinaSam-I-Am: is it built agains gnutls?17:50
Sam-I-Ami have db4.6 and 4.7 on the same box17:50
Sam-I-Ami'm building it against openssl and gnutls17:51
jmedinaIm not packager, but Im interested in openldap17:51
Sam-I-Ami think 8.04 came with 4.6 ..17:51
Sam-I-Ami would imagine that 2.4.16 would go into the next release17:51
Sam-I-Amlike... 9.10+17:51
Sam-I-Amsince its a major bump17:51
jmedinayeap hardy 4.617:51
Sam-I-Amproblem is right now the deb/ub packages for openldap are wayyy behind upstream even when released.17:52
Sam-I-Amand given how fast openldap progresses, the packages are pretty much useless.17:52
Sam-I-Ami would hope ubuntu can release the latest openldap "stable" package at least for every LTS release17:52
Sam-I-Amwhich seems doable17:52
jmedinaSam-I-Am: yeap that is a problem, what I have seen is that ubuntu packages works fine for simple setups17:53
Sam-I-Amsure17:53
jmedinabut when you need strong authtentication kerb/sasl and replication that is when ubuntu packages wont work as expectd17:53
TJ`whats the difference between clamav and clamavdaemon?17:53
jmedinaone is a daemon the other a comand17:54
TJ`<--- noob17:54
jmedinafor better performance use clamd17:54
TJ`so the daemon runs automatically?17:54
TJ`!google clamd17:54
ubottuSorry, I don't know anything about google clamd17:54
Sam-I-Am2.4.11 is an issue because it has known brokenness with replication17:54
Sam-I-Amat least the new forms of it17:54
Sam-I-Am2.4.15 is working fine for me but 2.4.16 contains some important fixes for multi-master which i'm not using17:55
Sam-I-Amand the openldap folks in #openldap sure hate the ancient packages in distros... not just deb/ub17:55
jmedinaTJ`: I think you need to run ubuntu server guide, learn how to use man17:56
Sam-I-Amspeaking of the server guide, that could also use some updating17:56
Sam-I-Amat least with ldap/samba/kerb integration17:56
jmedinayeap, redhat pckages are worst17:56
Sam-I-Amha, theyre super ancient17:57
Sam-I-Ami tried building this infrastructure on centos/rhel as directed by the boss... and got him to let me use ubuntu17:57
jmedinaSam-I-Am: I'm not sure, afew weeks ago someone came up and wanted to package openvpn17:57
Sam-I-Amreplacing package source with upstream in RPMs is extremely painful17:57
jmedinaI think he was going to upload their packages to a ubuntu PPA17:58
jmedinas/openvpn/openldap/17:58
Sam-I-Amtheres a few people out there17:58
Sam-I-Amsomeone made some smbk5pwd packages which is nice17:58
Sam-I-Ambut they also based it on 2.4.7/1117:58
Sam-I-Ami have an itch to get smbk5pwd working on 2.4.1617:59
Sam-I-Amonce i verify this part works17:59
Sam-I-Amand... it worked17:59
Sam-I-Amwell, i have packages now18:00
jmedinaSam-I-Am: I cant help to test your packages in hardy, I dont use other distro for production18:00
jmedinas/cant/can/ :(18:00
Sam-I-Ami'm building for hardy since its the most recent LTS, but for maintaining purposes, i'd install squeeze or karmic18:00
Sam-I-Amonce i get a response from the maintainers i'll ask what direction they'd like me to head18:01
Sam-I-Amsince i'm going to do all this work anyway18:01
jmedinaI think they are at barcelona attending UDS18:01
Sam-I-Ami think that was last week18:01
jmedinaSam-I-Am: are you using openldap with kerberos?18:03
Sam-I-Ami will be18:03
Sam-I-Amplan is to get smbk5pwd integrated... which is what got this ball rolling in the first place since its not included in the debian package18:04
Sam-I-Amand then i said... hmm, why not try to roll 2.4.16 in18:04
jmedinaI learning about it, so what kerberos implementation are you planning to use?18:04
Sam-I-Amheimdal18:04
Sam-I-Amparticularly since samba4 will have hooks into it18:05
jmedinaheimdal it is in universe (unsupported)18:05
jmedinamit is in main (supported) :S18:05
Sam-I-Amyeah, i've noticed that18:05
Sam-I-Ambut when samba4 rolls out that might need to change18:05
Sam-I-Ami could compile it against mit...18:05
Sam-I-Amkinda waiting to see whats needed18:06
jmedinaSam-I-Am: where can I download hardy packages?18:06
Sam-I-Amjmedina: not quite ready yet... need to make sure they install as they're hot off the compiler18:08
