[02:12] Hi there... just trying to install Mythbuntu 9.04 via Wubi and am stuck on the Graphics Drivers screen. No matter what selection I make the Back/Forward buttons remain disabled. I found a bug on Launchpad that seemed related, but it's marked as fixed (https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/362419/+viewstatus). [03:22] hey guys, quick question: the US uses NTSC, right? [03:24] Specifically I want to enable composite video out on an NVIDIA card. Is NTSC-M what I want? I'm on the east coast of the US. [03:27] Also, another question: Which connecton degrades quality less: coax or composite? [03:35] Composite [03:36] hads: is it a significant difference? [03:36] I ask because I'm going to have to hook up my set top box to an analog capture card (PVR 150) [03:36] RF < Composite < Component/VGA/DVI [03:36] and i heard that degrades quality [03:36] Sure it will. [03:36] i'm watching SDTV on a CRT set though [03:36] so i dunno how severe it's going to be [03:37] Best to use the S-video input. It will degrade the least on the PVR150 [03:37] hmm. i dunno if i have access to that [03:37] i don't think my stb has an s-video out [03:37] it has coax and composite [03:37] let me check [03:38] yeah. coax and composite only [03:38] how bad do you think it'll be? [03:38] maybe I just won't transcode my shows to mp4... [04:22] Can anybody help me with configuring myth to work through a motorola set top box with an IR blaster? I'm kind of stuck [04:23] So far I've installed myth and selected the aprorpriate option for my remote (windows media center new version) and the IR blaster option (PVR150 pci w/ motorola cable box) === pizdets is now known as pizzledizzle [05:20] Night all. [13:49] I've just installed mythbuntu 904 and tuned my cards, when I go to Watch TV it just returns to the main menu [13:49] if I however stop the mythbackend and start the mythbackend as the user then I can watch TV [13:52] seems your user is not part of the mythtv user group? [13:54] yes my user is part of the mythtv group [13:55] Ah I think it's my recording directory [13:55] I setup a new partition for recordings using the XFS file system [13:56] that was it [13:57] I changed the group on my recordings dir to mythtv and now it's not a problem [13:57] thanks for giving me the tip i needed [13:58] np :) [14:18] Morning! [14:44] morning [14:49] morning [15:53] I need some guidance in setting up my mythtv font/backend server with an IR blaster (motorola cable box -- comcast digital cable). I would like to use the coax in on my pvr150 to record analog data from STB, but so far I haven't been able to scan for channels. I tried setting /usr/bin/ch_change.sh as the external channel changing command, but that didn't work ... What am I missing? [15:54] I can provide more information if necessary [16:17] Blz, if you use the RG6/coax cable to the PVR it should not come out of your cable box, if you need/want to record your analog digital cable you should use the Composite Video inputs on the PVR-150 instead [16:17] Blz, then you can use a serial cable from your backend -> cable stb to change the channels [16:17] foxbuntu: oh i see... So it just won't work via coax? [16:17] I don't have a serial port on my STB [16:18] Blz, get a serial -> usb adapter [16:18] Blz, its far easier than an IR blaster [16:19] firewire [16:19] foxbuntu: maybe I'm missing something, but all I have is coax out and RCA Composite out [16:19] out of the STB that is [16:19] I thought serial to usb was a dtv only thing? [16:19] this is digital cable [16:19] Blz, there should be a DB9 serial port on the moto box [16:19] there's not. [16:20] it's a really small box [16:20] Blz, thats really strange then [16:20] Blz, well then use the IR blaster [16:20] that was the idea, unless I can trade it in for a normal stb [16:20] Blz, but the previous statement is the same [16:20] about using RCA composite? [16:20] yup [16:20] okay, I'll try that [16:21] run RCA stb -> PVR-150 [16:21] and I use ch_chan.sh right? [16:21] for the IR blaster? [16:21] whatever works with your particular ir blaster [16:21] it's the ir blaster that comes with the pvr150 MCE ... i'm not sure what that requires [16:22] I tried looking on the mythtv wiki but i couldn't find much... [16:22] im not sure off the top of my head [16:22] i think you can just use irsend though [16:22] do you know where I could look? [16:22] irsend is the command? [16:22] yea [16:22] check out the mythtv wiki [16:23] okay i'll give that a try. [16:23] otherwise I'll just see if i can trade in my stb for a classic one. I have no idea why they gave me the midgit version [16:24] :) [16:24] Blz: those are the new ones [16:25] rhpot1991: do they still play nice? [16:25] dunnos [16:25] ffffffffffffuuuuuu- [16:25] well I guess there's only one way to find out [16:25] so let me just recap to make sure I'm not missing anything... [16:25] Blz, rhpot1991 can hardly keep cable online much less test new stuffs [16:26] lol yeah what's wrong with you rhpot1991!!?? [16:26] heh [16:26] =) [16:26] but anyway... coax to STB, composite to PVR150 [16:26] forgive me for wanting my credit I was promised :) [16:26] haha actually rhpot1991 has helped me numerous times... [16:27] Blz, you got it [16:27] and in the settings I just set it up as I normally would, with my schedules direct bit? [16:27] and try irsend as the external channel changing command [16:27] oh also, what channel format do i need to select, if any? [16:27] Blz, yeah..in the input connections setup be sure to select the PVR-150 composite input [16:27] I saw weird stuff like us-cable-hrs or something like that [16:27] Blz, defaults work for that [16:28] Blz, us-cable or us-broadcast [16:28] foxbuntu. awesome. thanks [16:28] rhpot1991: also many thanks [16:28] time to get my hands dirty... [16:37] Does mythbuntu's MythTV-fixes packages include support for DVB-S2 HD channels? I don't get a lock on the transponders on 1W that transmitts the HD channels I want... [16:38] rozon, if they are in 0.21-fixes upstream then yes [16:38] if not, then no :) [16:38] well... are they? :) [16:39] i'd ask in #mythtv-users. i'm not absolutely positive myself [16:39] cool... I'll do that, thanks... :) === Penfold_ is now known as Penfold === gbutters is now known as gbutters_work [23:27] Question: when going through mythtv setup, I can usually only see about half of the option descriptions at the bottom before the text runs out of the box ... how do I scroll to see more? [23:36] Anybody? [23:36] I'm sure it's something obvious...
