mac9416Hello, I would like to know how gnome-app-install determines what software to display. Obviously it only displays top-level apps, not dependencies. Also, how does it determine what category a package is in? None of that info is in the package index files.15:43
pochumacvr: I think it uses the data in the app-install-data package15:44
pochuthe .desktop files in there, that is15:44
pochumac9416: ^ that was for you :)15:46
pochumacvr: sorry15:46
macvrnp :)15:46
mac9416Haha. So it lists all packs that have .desktop files in there, and the category info is in the .desktop's too?15:47
james_wpretty much15:48
james_wthere are a few .desktop files added that aren't actually in packages to make a few more things appear15:49
james_wand there are possibly a few things blacklisted or overriden, but that's the basic idea15:49
mac9416OK, cool. Thanks.15:49
mac9416May I ask where the .desktops are kept?15:52
pochumac9416: what do you mean?15:56
mac9416If all the software listed in gnome-app-install is taken from .desktop files, where are the .desktops located?15:56
pochuin app-install-data :)15:58
pochuor in /usr/share/app-install/desktop/ in the filesystem15:58
mac9416Ah, OK, thanks a lot :-)15:58
