[01:37] rock on [01:38] i rather sleep now ;) === mypapit_prob is now known as mypapit [15:43] Hello, I would like to know how gnome-app-install determines what software to display. Obviously it only displays top-level apps, not dependencies. Also, how does it determine what category a package is in? None of that info is in the package index files. [15:44] macvr: I think it uses the data in the app-install-data package [15:44] the .desktop files in there, that is [15:46] mac9416: ^ that was for you :) [15:46] macvr: sorry [15:46] np :) [15:47] Haha. So it lists all packs that have .desktop files in there, and the category info is in the .desktop's too? [15:48] pretty much [15:49] there are a few .desktop files added that aren't actually in packages to make a few more things appear [15:49] and there are possibly a few things blacklisted or overriden, but that's the basic idea [15:49] OK, cool. Thanks. [15:52] May I ask where the .desktops are kept? [15:56] mac9416: what do you mean? [15:56] If all the software listed in gnome-app-install is taken from .desktop files, where are the .desktops located? [15:58] in app-install-data :) [15:58] or in /usr/share/app-install/desktop/ in the filesystem [15:58] Ah, OK, thanks a lot :-) === kathmich is now known as asac_2nd [16:07] bryce: tjaalton: anyone here? [16:07] oops [16:07] i am asac ;) === asac_2nd is now known as asacasa [16:08] bryce: tjaalton: so i upgraded this inspiron 6400 to hardy and dont get a good resolution [16:08] damn pidgin thing [16:08] no nick changing [16:09] i run out of ideas ... using no xorg.conf gives me 800x600 [16:09] is i810 still a valid driver name at all in hardy? [16:12] ok restarting X [16:13] ok thanks. removing xorg.conf.failsafe and xorg.conf helped [16:13] bryce: maybe we should move the .failsafe file away and only use it if nothing else works? [16:14] anyway. lets talk about that later [16:14] going off!
