[13:13] good morning. Anyone around? [13:17] hello [13:19] I am a fairly sophisticated linux user. I would like to make sure that [13:19] downloading the schedule part of running an open source dvr works [13:19] before I invest in hardware. After many hours of trying to figure this out on my own, I am asking [13:19] for a little help. I have signed up for scedulesdirect 7 day trial membership. [13:19] I am running MythUbuntu 8.04 as a guest OS on virtual box. [13:19] I go to Backend setup and set up ScheduleDirect as a Video source with my username and password. It [13:19] connects and downloads the information successfully. Then it ask to run mythfilldatabase and it shows 401 authentication [13:19] errors. I turned off the Ubuntu ufw [13:19] firewall with no results. [13:19] I can get to localhost:6544 and it show the status, but if I go to [13:19] localhost:6543, firefox keeps rotating and never gets there. Although [13:19] and nmap -p 6543 shows mythtv running there. [13:19] If there is anymore information I could give you let me know. I have a feeling that this is a simple problem for someone with [13:19] experience with this. [13:19] I really would appreciate the help. [13:20] sry [13:20] Why did this break up my message in numerous parts. [13:25] Let me try this again. I am a fairly sophisticated linux user. I would like to make sure that downloading the schedule part of running an open source dvr works before I invest in hardware. After many hours of trying to figure this out on my own, I am asking for a little help. I have signed up for scedulesdirect 7 day trial membership. I am running MythUbuntu 8.04 as a guest OS on virtual box. I go to Backend setup and set up Schedul [13:37] There is nothing in the program guide in mythtv after I do this. [13:41] are there some people how can help me with lirc? its driving me nuts :P [13:42] i got a USB X10 remote. and it works with the ati_remote.. [13:42] but not all keys work properly. [13:44] weverino, try not running mythtv in a vbox? [13:44] Sigi, use the MCC [13:45] MCC ? [13:45] mythbuntu-control-center [13:45] darthanubis: that is exactly what I'm doing. [13:46] running as a guest on a vbox [13:46] weverino, I said NOT... [13:46] i don't know of anyone successfully running mythtv in a vbox [13:47] but sometimes schedules direct does not resolve...but very rarely [13:48] I don't expect it to run successfully. I just want to see it install the programing information before I go out and buy the hardware. [13:49] I use SD everyday [13:49] no issues [13:49] what about using it with the livecd. .... So it is a problem with using the default nat networking on virtualbox? maybe using a different networking setup would fix this problem. [13:50] maybe, but I don't know if the livecd will allow SD to write information to disk? [13:50] using nat, the mythubuntu is hidden behind a firewall. [13:51] I don't use mythbuntu disks. I use vanilla ubuntu and install mythtv suite [13:51] on the virtualbox [13:51] darthanubis, :D it now works a bit... i cant press a button twice :S [13:51] Sigi, your on your way [13:51] darthanubis, y but is it now using lirc? [13:51] or the ati_remote? [13:51] Sigi, type irw in a terminal and press keys on the remote to find out [13:52] y, indeed its lirc :D:D [13:52] weverino, my myth box is behind a heavy firewall, no issues [13:52] but why cant i press buttons twice? like down - down -down... [13:53] mmh, it does, but i need to wait 2 seconds between each button pressd [13:54] The I don't see why there would be an issues retreiving the SD from a guest on virtualbox, because it connects in every other way out to the internet. [13:57] weverino, I don't know why either [13:58] darthanubis, do you know where the configs file are with the mapping? and wait times or something ? [13:59] there are no "wait times" [14:00] but look in ~/.mythtv [14:00] you know, obvious places [14:00] or what the documentation says? [14:00] ok, but how can i change that i need to wait 2 sec after each button pressd? [14:00] weverino: did you setup a tuner and map sd source to an input on it? [15:30] this is a quiet channel [15:34] not really [15:36] lol [15:38] i upgraded to 8.10 awhile back.. and the multimedia volume keys work differently... they no longer control the volume of mythtv, but rather the volume level straight from the OS i think.. [15:38] is there a way to change that? [15:42] yup [15:43] ypu'll find it [15:43] you'll [15:43] the key isnt reported correctly in X [15:43] it just sends a 0 or something [15:44] well even 8.10 is old, and ppl recommend clean installs === zipper is now known as z1pp3r [19:04] mythbuntu play 1080p mkv movies [19:04] how well does mythbuntu play 1080p mkv movies [19:08] how can i permently add my 2 ntfs drives to mythbuntu without adding them every time i restart my computer [20:35] hey can someone help me out [23:05] hello [23:06] I have installed mythbuntu 9.04 with two DVB-C cards but am not really able to get live-tv to work nor to get a proper channel list [23:08] I have just posted my logs to http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/f383ae794 [23:09] does somebody know if there is a file where I can for example easily edit the channels, setup the dvb-cards and setup the transports and connections? [23:09] it takes quite a long time when I have to do all my changes with the TV-GUI
