cjwatson"Ubuntu Netbook Remix", then00:00
cjwatsonhardaway: ok, what was the bug number?00:00
hardaway39007400:01
cjwatson(I wasn't just being pedantic; the reason I was pressing for the exact name is that "remix" basically just means "something that's a bit like Ubuntu proper but with some different packages from the Ubuntu archive and maybe a few configuration changes". There are lots of remixes so it could have been anything)00:01
hardawayunstood00:02
hardawayunderstood00:02
cjwatsonso for some reason that still appears to be grub 100:03
hardawayi will be happy when the grub 1 or 2 or whichever one plays nice with the Mac EFI is fixed00:04
cjwatsonwell, both in principle ought to00:04
cjwatsonthough grub 1 is clearly not managing it here00:05
hardawayi dont understand---with 8.10 and 9.04 i dont have any problem installing00:05
cjwatsonI expect it'd be easier to debug with grub 200:05
cjwatsongrub is being changed around in karmic, some breakage is to be expected00:05
hardawaycool---any ideas when i might try again00:05
cjwatsonno00:05
cjwatsonI haven't debugged it yet!00:05
cjwatsondon't ask me for an ETA when I haven't even figured out the problem00:05
cjwatsoncart before horse etc. :)00:06
hardawaysorry--i just did not have any idea of the status00:06
cjwatsonnor do I00:06
hardawaywhere you at the linux foundation collaboration summit this year00:06
* cjwatson spots an unrelated bug in your syslog and goes to fix that00:06
cjwatsonno, I wasn't00:06
hardawayjust wondering---i saw a number of Canonical folks there00:07
hardawayMartin Pitt and I always chat00:09
cjwatsonhardaway: ok, so looks as if this bug is basically fixed but we need to upload the ubiquity package before the fix takes effect. This will be at some point in the next couple of days. I'll let you know by closing the bug when this has happened00:16
cjwatsonhardaway: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/grub-installer/ubuntu/revision/787 was the fix00:17
hardawaythank you00:22

nnookkHello, I've a problem with 9.04-alternate. I'm trying to install on an MSi Wind, which has Realtek wifi and no cdrom. Installer tries to get on the 'net, but doesn't let me specify network interface, so it fails. I don't know how to manually install packages from the .iso.07:47

jerroomehi, I'm modifying grub in order to install make a network system with preseed configuration. My problem is that once the install kernel is loaded and that the system is detecting hardware, it doesn't detect the hd. If I start an install over pxe, the hd is detected. I imagine that the hd is probably busy, are there any possibilities to reinstall a system over network by modifying grub, or am I on the wrong road ... ?14:25

cr3cjwatson: thanks to you and evand, good work on preseeding!20:46
