loolWe don't have kernel support for that I'm afraid00:03
* lool &00:05
patriconwayoh, well I was just wondering, verizon is selling them for 9 dollars00:08
patriconwaydoes the mid support any phones?00:09
persiajumentous, So, you need a new background-launcher interface.  How far is kourou from your goal?04:54
jumentouspersia, would prefer not to do it from scratch as i dont really know any gtk, and kourou is close04:54
persiaIn that case, I'd definitely recommend extending kourou.  It's a fairly tight codebase, and should be easy to enhance.04:55
jumentouskourou is close, it actually looked better in the intrepid mobile edition as it had icon outlining etc04:55
jumentousbut i was looking through current ubuntu-mid and it has things like background chooser04:55
persiakourou was the intrepid mobile edition launcher.04:55
jumentouswhich seems to set options in gconf but are never read which is how i found the spec04:55
jumentousi know just had a nicer look with outlining 04:57
persiaWhen you say "current ubuntu-mid", which do you mean?04:57
jumentouswith quick google image search this: http://sinecera.de/apps_0.3.png is close04:57
jumentous(i have no idea what thats from)04:57
persianeither do I.04:57
jumentouswhich appears to use kourou as the launcher, however it may not 04:58
jumentousjaunty, just installing ubuntu-mid04:59
persiaRight.  intrepid and jaunty are kourou.04:59
jumentouswith default settings things like outlines of icons are gone04:59
jumentousno idea why04:59
jumentoushaven't tried to change configs yet so might be able to bring it back05:00
persiaTry fiddling with gconf, or looking at the kourou code.05:00
jumentousits unlikely they would remove it05:00
jumentoushttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ubuntumobile.jpg05:00
jumentous-- icon outlines 05:00
persiaOh, that's not kourour.05:01
persias/r\././05:01
persiaThat's mobile-basic-flash or some such, and more likely just a mockup of how mobile-basic-flash was supposed to appear.05:02
jumentousah, maybe thats it05:03
jumentousi played with mobile-basic-flash in previous versions 05:03
jumentousbut a while ago 05:04
jumentouswhy was mobile-basic-flash scrapped in favour of kourou? (checking if mobile-basic-flash is even in jaunty)05:04
jumentousits not 05:05
persiaBecause it was unfixably bad.05:05
persiaIt didn't comply with any of the specs about how launchers behave, and it was quicker to develop a replacement than to even find the source of the problem in mobile-basic-flash05:06
jumentousok, so options are live with kourou, fix kourou, rethink completely (and nothing coming from mer) 05:13
jumentouswell, at least now i know05:13
jumentousthanks persia05:13
persiaGood luck :)05:17

ograWIP22:11
ograftbfs list cleared up the last days22:12
ograas much as i could22:12
ograthats all ... we're still having to discuss the bootloader we'll use22:12
NCommanderI have a few things to add22:13
ogrago ahead22:13
NCommanderThe only FTBFS's in main that we care about ATM is mostly KDE, which is currently broken due to strangeness with pkgbinarymangler. It's on my TODO list, but no idea when I'm going to get it22:13
ograbootloader is more important atm22:13
NCommanderRight, I'm just bringing it up22:13
NCommanderI have my B2 fully setup running off a USB root, and checked d-i on it; archdetect properly detects it as a imx51 board, so d-i will not need to be modified for Babbage222:14
ograwell22:14
ograit doesnt detect it as B222:14
ograthat sill need an update22:14
ogra*will22:14
NCommanderogra, it detects it as an imx51, as far as I understand it, we're having on imx51 kernel, not two22:14
NCommander*one22:15
NCommandersubarchitecture only really affects kernel installation and flash-kernel, and the later should properly detect it as an imx51 (it uses the same type of check as archdetect on determining the SoC)22:15
ograwell, so what do you do if somone runs that image on a B1 ?22:15
davidmNCommander, yes we will only have one iMX51 kernel22:15
NCommanderThat image isn't going to boot on a B122:15
ograright22:15
ogracpuinfo gives you the info you ned22:16
ograit should get updated22:16
NCommanderogra, cpuinfo is identical B1/B222:16
NCommander(for Processor, which is all that's checked)22:16
ograit wasnt for me22:16
ograi dont have it right now because my board is gone22:16
ograbut there were differences22:16
NCommanderHardware        : Freescale MX51 Babbage Board on the B222:17
ograand we should make sure you are not accidentially installing a B2 image on a B1 22:17
ograthere is more than the HW line in cpuinfo :)22:17
NCommanderUgh, there's not a good clean way to that22:17
NCommanderogra, right, that I know, but currently, that's all thats checked for archdetect22:18
NCommanderand flash-kernel22:18
ograd-i uses the whole of it22:18
ogranot only the HW line22:18

plarshave overview testplan, but not much other than that22:19
plarsare we going to have a build for alpha 3?22:20
NCommander^- davidm 22:20
plarsthe reason I ask, is that most of the testcases for desktop should work here, but a lot of what I need to do is validate that they are working correctly in karmic for ARM22:21
ograplars, we will22:21
davidmplars, it is not looking good, the kernel team is still struggling to get a kernel.22:21
ograbut we wont have many people to test it22:21
plarsI have hardware to test it, except no b222:22
ogradavidm, as i understood we'll have the imx51 kernel in time22:22
ograbut nobody has HW to do testing22:22
davidmogra, the kernel team is working on it. They have 4-5 folks working it now.22:22
NCommanderLast I heard, they merged the patches in, but the kernel doesn't boot22:22
ograi know :)22:22
ograif it boots on the lange 5.2 i can test 22:23

plarsand started work on a test driver22:28
* ogra has a tip for NCommander to sort the LP list by asignee next time :)22:28
NCommanderogra, I sort by priority22:28
plarswhich I should be able to feed xml descriptions for how to get to each dialog context, and it will automagically run through it22:28
NCommanderogra, I didn't even realize you could sort it :-/22:28

asjo(I just wandered in here, so feel free to direct me elsewhere:) I was wondering if anyone can tell me/point me to what the status of the poulsbo graphics drivers are? Especially for Karmic. [Didn't check and bought a psb-equipped netbook...]22:53
davidmasac, no luck with Karmic, because the 3D is binary Intel is the only source of them and they are not supporting Karmic at the current time.22:59
davidmasjo, ^^^22:59
davidmasac, sorry tab completion error.22:59
asjodavidm, thanks. How annoying. However, 2D would be better than nothing, is the situation any different for that?23:00
davidmWe normally get the entire driver from Intel and they are not supporting Karmic at the current time.  You might be able to forward port the old 2D driver but it's based on an older version of Xorg so it would be hard I think.23:02
asjodavidm, I should do more research before buying... The best starting point for that would be the PPA for intrepid, or?23:04
StevenKJaunty is in the PPA, too23:05
StevenKSupporting both 2D and 3D.23:05
davidmasjo, StevenK is the best resource for knowing what is in the PPAs23:05
asjoStevenK: cool - are those the latest and ge23:07
