htpc | Hi guys just updated to the weekly build and have chosen trunk by accident and update and broken everything . what i want to know how i have the correct sources can i downgrade the packages easily? | 02:13 |
---|---|---|
awilkins | Hi, the release page says 9.04 includes 0.21-fixes20403 but the actual version I've got after a dist-upgrade is 19961 ? | 02:42 |
Outbreak_Monkey | Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64 - the 'out of the box' install seems to have holes in the config - front end can't find DB etc.. is 8.10 still supported? Is there any particular version that anyone here can recommend as 'best out of the box' ? | 02:47 |
tgm4883 | Outbreak_Monkey, I suppose it depends on your hardware | 02:48 |
tgm4883 | awilkins, let me check that for you | 02:48 |
Outbreak_Monkey | err.. sorry.. Mythbunt 9.04 | 02:48 |
awilkins | tgm4883: Not that it matters ; they haven't backported the fix I wanted by the look of it | 02:49 |
awilkins | tgm4883: Looks like it's back to the PPA for m | 02:49 |
tgm4883 | awilkins, hmm, yea that is incorrect. We do have a weekly builds PPA | 02:49 |
Outbreak_Monkey | Intel G45 Board (relatively new) built in HDMI, audio over iec985/spdif , 64bit intel dual core. | 02:49 |
tgm4883 | awilkins, 0.21.0+fixes20789 in the weekly builds repo | 02:50 |
tgm4883 | well, at least that high, it should have built today | 02:50 |
awilkins | tgm4883: The fix I want hasn't been backported to HEAD of that branch yet | 02:50 |
tgm4883 | awilkins, what fix? | 02:51 |
awilkins | tgm4883: THe one I put in here... https://launchpad.net/~adrian-wilkins/+archive/ppa | 02:51 |
awilkins | I think it's cherrypicks from three revisions that fix the problem with reindexing DVB-T recordings | 02:52 |
awilkins | I suppose I can do without it until I have to reindex things again. | 02:52 |
tgm4883 | awilkins, is there a patch somewhere, and has upstream looked at it? | 02:53 |
Outbreak_Monkey | are you guys running 'full ubuntu' with mythtv installed on top.. ar are you starting with mythbuntu | 02:53 |
tgm4883 | Outbreak_Monkey, i'm running Mythbuntu 8.04 64-bit | 02:53 |
tgm4883 | I also have the frontend installed on my laptop | 02:53 |
Outbreak_Monkey | did you have any issues with the install process for 8.04? | 02:54 |
tgm4883 | no, but I didn't have any issues when I was testing 9.04 either | 02:55 |
Outbreak_Monkey | ok.. might blow it away and try again | 02:55 |
tgm4883 | I've just stuck with 8.04 since it's LTS, but will upgrade to 9.10 if 0.22 hits | 02:55 |
Outbreak_Monkey | third times a charm! :) | 02:55 |
tgm4883 | well hold on now | 02:56 |
tgm4883 | what are your 9.04 issues? | 02:56 |
Outbreak_Monkey | well the backstory: i WAS running Ubuntu 9.04 + MythTV + XBMC.. I've been compiling XBMC builds whe i see fixes come out.. and i got a bit too excited and well managed to compile MythTV, but somehow set fire to the 'front end' (couldn't fined a direct framebufer device) and well I couldn't really "go back" (i updated SO many libraries behind ubuntu's back that serves me right)... As painful as all that sounds it was prett | 02:59 |
Outbreak_Monkey | So.... | 02:59 |
Outbreak_Monkey | Figured I'd try Mythbuntu 9.04 .. straight out of the box.. | 03:00 |
Outbreak_Monkey | just seems a little clunky, the 'install' finished.. if I restart at that point the theme still seems to indicate it's waiting for more installation - so i go in to the mythbuntu manager enable the front and backend roles | 03:01 |
tgm4883 | strange | 03:01 |
Outbreak_Monkey | when i run the mythtv-setup.. it can't connect to teh database | 03:01 |
Outbreak_Monkey | when i mysql -u root -p mythconverg | 03:01 |
Outbreak_Monkey | at first the db issue is "access deied for 'mythtv'@'localhost' | 03:02 |
tgm4883 | have you tried reconfigureing the db? | 03:02 |
tgm4883 | !mysql | 03:02 |
Zinn | If you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, you can perform the following to reconfigure it: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it for the next step) 2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database 3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common | 03:02 |
Outbreak_Monkey | Zinn: understood, thanks am familiar with that .. but bit crappy that an 'out of the box' sucks that bad | 03:02 |
Outbreak_Monkey | don't get me wrong.. love mythtv, love ubuntu.. just don't think mythbuntu 9.04 has been all that pleasant for me :) | 03:03 |
tgm4883 | Outbreak_Monkey, not sure what happened, that isn't the case for most users | 03:03 |
Outbreak_Monkey | Zinn: apologies.. what i meant to say is NO i haven't done that on this install (did on the first, that's what i had to do to get it up last time).. just hopped on to see if anyone else had 'out of the box issues' | 03:05 |
Outbreak_Monkey | tgm: yeah.. i'm always the lucky one :) | 03:05 |
tgm4883 | did you verify your ISO and burn slow? | 03:06 |
Outbreak_Monkey | yup | 03:06 |
Outbreak_Monkey | and md5-sum | 03:06 |
tgm4883 | strange issues | 03:06 |
Outbreak_Monkey | i'll blow away and document exactly | 03:06 |
Outbreak_Monkey | does it produce any install logs? | 03:07 |
tgm4883 | hmm, not sure where the install logs will be | 03:07 |
Outbreak_Monkey | i'll have a play.. thank guys :) | 03:07 |
Outbreak_Monkey | will report back | 03:07 |
tgm4883 | I know where the mythtv logs are | 03:08 |
tgm4883 | ok | 03:08 |
Outbreak_Monkey | tgm: one last Q - when you're finished with the mythbuntu install (the 'black screen' with the 'click install to make it permantent' text) - on final boot, should that desktop background be any different? | 03:09 |
tgm4883 | no | 03:09 |
tgm4883 | i've seen it a few times though | 03:09 |
tgm4883 | on 8.10 | 03:09 |
Outbreak_Monkey | sorry? seen what? the 'click here to install background'? | 03:10 |
tgm4883 | the background change to the default xfce background | 03:12 |
Outbreak_Monkey | ahh | 03:12 |
Outbreak_Monkey | ahh well.. thanks for your help tgm / Zinn.. I'll go have another crack.. this time i'll document the steps.. see if it's something funny i'm doing | 03:13 |
Outbreak_Monkey | have a good day/night/etc.. :) | 03:13 |

plextortv402u | correction-->"SetInputAndFormat(1,NTSC)" | 17:58 |
petre | I've got mythbuntu/jaunty running, and I'm using schedules-direct to get listings. It's working, but when I look at the schedule via the web browser, none of the shows are categorized. | 18:57 |
petre | Using any of the searches comes up empty because none of the shows has a category. | 18:57 |
petre | Any ideas as to what's causing this? | 18:59 |
