[02:13] Hi guys just updated to the weekly build and have chosen trunk by accident and update and broken everything . what i want to know how i have the correct sources can i downgrade the packages easily? [02:42] Hi, the release page says 9.04 includes 0.21-fixes20403 but the actual version I've got after a dist-upgrade is 19961 ? [02:47] Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64 - the 'out of the box' install seems to have holes in the config - front end can't find DB etc.. is 8.10 still supported? Is there any particular version that anyone here can recommend as 'best out of the box' ? [02:48] Outbreak_Monkey, I suppose it depends on your hardware [02:48] awilkins, let me check that for you [02:48] err.. sorry.. Mythbunt 9.04 [02:49] tgm4883: Not that it matters ; they haven't backported the fix I wanted by the look of it [02:49] tgm4883: Looks like it's back to the PPA for m [02:49] awilkins, hmm, yea that is incorrect. We do have a weekly builds PPA [02:49] Intel G45 Board (relatively new) built in HDMI, audio over iec985/spdif , 64bit intel dual core. [02:50] awilkins, 0.21.0+fixes20789 in the weekly builds repo [02:50] well, at least that high, it should have built today [02:50] tgm4883: The fix I want hasn't been backported to HEAD of that branch yet [02:51] awilkins, what fix? [02:51] tgm4883: THe one I put in here... https://launchpad.net/~adrian-wilkins/+archive/ppa [02:52] I think it's cherrypicks from three revisions that fix the problem with reindexing DVB-T recordings [02:52] I suppose I can do without it until I have to reindex things again. [02:53] awilkins, is there a patch somewhere, and has upstream looked at it? [02:53] are you guys running 'full ubuntu' with mythtv installed on top.. ar are you starting with mythbuntu [02:53] Outbreak_Monkey, i'm running Mythbuntu 8.04 64-bit [02:53] I also have the frontend installed on my laptop [02:54] did you have any issues with the install process for 8.04? [02:55] no, but I didn't have any issues when I was testing 9.04 either [02:55] ok.. might blow it away and try again [02:55] I've just stuck with 8.04 since it's LTS, but will upgrade to 9.10 if 0.22 hits [02:55] third times a charm! :) [02:56] well hold on now [02:56] what are your 9.04 issues? [02:59] well the backstory: i WAS running Ubuntu 9.04 + MythTV + XBMC.. I've been compiling XBMC builds whe i see fixes come out.. and i got a bit too excited and well managed to compile MythTV, but somehow set fire to the 'front end' (couldn't fined a direct framebufer device) and well I couldn't really "go back" (i updated SO many libraries behind ubuntu's back that serves me right)... As painful as all that sounds it was prett [02:59] So.... [03:00] Figured I'd try Mythbuntu 9.04 .. straight out of the box.. [03:01] just seems a little clunky, the 'install' finished.. if I restart at that point the theme still seems to indicate it's waiting for more installation - so i go in to the mythbuntu manager enable the front and backend roles [03:01] strange [03:01] when i run the mythtv-setup.. it can't connect to teh database [03:01] when i mysql -u root -p mythconverg [03:02] at first the db issue is "access deied for 'mythtv'@'localhost' [03:02] have you tried reconfigureing the db? [03:02] !mysql [03:02] If you are having problems connecting to your mysql database, you can perform the following to reconfigure it: 1. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 (pay attention to the root password you set, you will need it for the next step) 2. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-database 3. sudo dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-common [03:02] Zinn: understood, thanks am familiar with that .. but bit crappy that an 'out of the box' sucks that bad [03:03] don't get me wrong.. love mythtv, love ubuntu.. just don't think mythbuntu 9.04 has been all that pleasant for me :) [03:03] Outbreak_Monkey, not sure what happened, that isn't the case for most users [03:05] Zinn: apologies.. what i meant to say is NO i haven't done that on this install (did on the first, that's what i had to do to get it up last time).. just hopped on to see if anyone else had 'out of the box issues' [03:05] tgm: yeah.. i'm always the lucky one :) [03:06] did you verify your ISO and burn slow? [03:06] yup [03:06] and md5-sum [03:06] strange issues [03:06] i'll blow away and document exactly [03:07] does it produce any install logs? [03:07] hmm, not sure where the install logs will be [03:07] i'll have a play.. thank guys :) [03:07] will report back [03:08] I know where the mythtv logs are [03:08] ok [03:09] tgm: one last Q - when you're finished with the mythbuntu install (the 'black screen' with the 'click install to make it permantent' text) - on final boot, should that desktop background be any different? [03:09] no [03:09] i've seen it a few times though [03:09] on 8.10 [03:10] sorry? seen what? the 'click here to install background'? [03:12] the background change to the default xfce background [03:12] ahh [03:13] ahh well.. thanks for your help tgm / Zinn.. I'll go have another crack.. this time i'll document the steps.. see if it's something funny i'm doing [03:13] have a good day/night/etc.. :) [04:15] hello? [04:16] i need some help setting up a static IP address in Mythbuntu. I've tried everything come to mind and it's beginning to drive me nuts === gbutters_away is now known as gbutters [06:25] hello - i've searched around a bit but can't find any documentation on 'adding menu items' - what I'd like to add is a link/launcher for a couple of other applications onto the main menu. can someone direct me to a doc/how-to or even some search terms? === gbutters_away is now known as gbutters [08:26] hi room [08:32] night room [10:59] Hi All, I am using mythbuntu 8.10 and DVD ripping is to slow, I am newbie don't know how to access logs to tell what DVD ROM I have, etc or how mythbuntu is interacting with it. (the tuner is a Plextor tv402u running on jaunty) [17:58] correction-->"SetInputAndFormat(1,NTSC)" [18:57] I've got mythbuntu/jaunty running, and I'm using schedules-direct to get listings. It's working, but when I look at the schedule via the web browser, none of the shows are categorized. [18:57] Using any of the searches comes up empty because none of the shows has a category.
