tommy_i want something that i can make a decent user interface with14:23
PolitikerNEUtommy_: Javascript is no alternative? (Sorry, I don't know facebook either)14:23
tommy_but not something like java as i dont want the user to have to install a load of stuff on their system14:24
PolitikerNEUI mean, I know facebook, but have never used it, especially I have never tried to use or write an application for it14:24
PolitikerNEUtommy_: You have to install flash and you have to install java - not much difference IMHO14:24
zacharyanyone happen to know why the kubuntu installer would just take a poop?14:25
tommy_most endusers would have flash tho i think14:25
tommy_and AJAX is not going to be versatile enough for what im wanting to do i think14:25
PolitikerNEUtommy_: Could be and beside that, most java interfaces I have seen are _ugly_ as web apps. Hmm ... what do you want to do?14:26
tommy_well one idea i have is a facebook app similar to theme park, which would be a good example14:27
tommy_i dont see how i could make something like that easily in AJAX14:27
PolitikerNEUtommy_: Mom, I have to google what theme park is14:27
tommy_lol ok14:28

tommy_hmm, maybe ill just have to hand over the cash to adobe and lump ity14:32
PolitikerNEUtommy_: This could indeed be true - but I am rather sure there is at least no IDE for flash so maybe it would still be "easier" to do it with JS because you can use an IDE (e.g. Eclipse) there14:32

tommy_ive not had a look at it really14:33
tommy_i wish it was still macromedia, i loved that company, hate adobe tho14:34

tommy_does silverlight come bundled with ie as standard do you know?14:37

ArPharazonSo my computer freezes semi randomly. Should I ask on windows because I had only xp installed, or should I ask here because my kubuntu livecd is the only way to get past the boot screen? Or is there a #ghostintheshell?19:03
ArPharazonBtw, I think it's very likely a hardware problem but... It's weird, man.19:05
Serpardumif you can only get past the xp boot screen by a a livecd, its a windows issue19:05
Serpardumis it the windows boot screen you see, or bios boot screen?19:05
BluesKajshadeslayer, yeah thanks i should have looked in the rekonk folders for the png files19:06
shadeslayerBluesKaj: :)19:06
ArPharazonSerpardum: You'd think that eh? Well sometimes the livecd crashes when it's trying to boot Linux, it crashes if I run QTParted. It crashes if I run Setup. It sometimes crashes anyway even if I behave and don't run anything funny like that.19:07
Serpardumhardware problem.  check your memory.  check your cpu.  check your power supply19:08
SerpardumMy first suspect is memory19:08
SerpardumHow many programmers does it take to change a lightbulb?19:08
SerpardumCan't be done, that's a hardware problem.19:08
u19809shadeslayer : got it, apparently puls does not support audio IN and skype fell back to my TV card as first source with audion IN capabilities19:08
ArPharazon.Memory? RAM? Would the 7,10 livecd's memory check thing work?19:09
Serpardumif it has it, yes19:09
Serpardumany system check you have, run19:09
ArPharazonSerpardum: Also, how can I check my cpu?19:09

shadeslayerubottu: so the static version worked?19:10
ubottuError: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :)19:10
Serpardumthen it's probably on the far end.  mother boards I see tend to have around a 4-5 year lifespan nowadays unless you get an expeinsive one.  then 5-619:11
Serpardumso then you go to get a new mohterboard, and you find out that your cpu socket isn't supported anymore.  so you gotta buy a new cpu, and ytou find out your memory wont fit19:11
ArPharazonSerpardum: I was expecting a more gradual increase in freeze frequency =/19:12
Serpardumso you eihter kick in for new motherboard, cpu and memory, or look around for a computer on sale19:12
Serpardumunfortually they just do that19:12
Serpardumone day they just go.  Hmm.. I think I'm going to sleep now.  goodnight19:12

Cybertinusshadeslayer: you mean "Obtaining modelines from Windows program PowerStrip"? I'm not running Windows, so that is not very usefull ;) (my host OS is Gentoo LInux ;) )22:11
flohHi, I wanted to install *cough* WinXP on Debian. Unfortunatelly Pentium 3 doesn't have VT for XEN, so I cannot use XEN, right?22:11

Torchwhere do i get qt4.5.x with x > 0 for jaunty?22:15
shadeslayerTorch: umm... kde 4.3?22:15
EarthwingsRiddell: nice, thanks. it seems to depend on qt-4.5.1, is that available at a convenient place as well?22:16
Torchshadeslayer: not on my mirrors, apparently22:16
ubuntu_giantHello.  What is the current stable version of KDE?  I think I might have accidentally upgraded to a beta version.22:17
shadeslayerTorch: uh...you have to add the backports repo22:17
ubuntuI've been trying to use the bluetooth adaptor, sometimes that thing is a headache22:17
shadeslayerubuntu_giant: what version are you on? 4.3 was released today as a stable version22:17
ubuntuand creating a PAN on windows xp is a doddle with little pain22:17
Torchshadeslayer: ouch... different repos for qt4.5.1 and kde 4.3? thats... interesting.22:17
shadeslayerTorch: no..in order to have qt 4.5.1 you need KDE 4.3 i think22:18
Torchshadeslayer: currently kde 4.3 is being held back by apt because it depends on 4.5.122:18
Torch(qt 4.5.1, that is)22:18
RiddellEarthwings: hum, it didn't copy for some reason22:19
RiddellEarthwings: you can use https://edge.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-ppa/+archive/staging in the mean time22:19
Torchshadeslayer: obviously i'm not alone with that.22:19
* Earthwings looks22:19
shadeslayeryeah..apt is holding baack packages22:19

shadeslayerubuntu_giant: yes,you have a RC version... 4.3 was released today as a stable version...youll be updated22:20
mildneris it posible to upgrade kubuntu from console in ubuntu22:20
Torchmildner: sure. what do you want to do exactly?22:21
shadeslayermildner: yep22:21
Dragnslcrmildner- do you mean install KDE?22:21
EarthwingsRiddell: alright, that works, thx :-)22:21
mildnerI recieved the notice kubuntu 4.3 is released but because of problems with plasma desktop I am using gnome22:21
shadeslayermildner: no problems here...22:22
Dragnslcrmildner- if you have the PPA enabled, then you'll get the updated packages22:22
mildnersorry what iss PPA?22:23
shadeslayergnome libs generally screw my KDE libs22:23
shadeslayer!ppa | mildner22:23
ubottumildner: With Launchpad's Personal Package Archives (PPA), you can build and publish binary Ubuntu packages for multiple architectures simply by uploading an Ubuntu source package to Launchpad. See https://help.launchpad.net/PPAQuickStart.22:23
mildneris it enough to use --> sudo apt-get upgrade22:24
shadeslayermildner: dist-upgrade22:25
Dragnslcrmildner- you also need the backports PPA enabled (see topic)22:25
Cybertinusshadeslayer: In my /var/log/Xorg.0.log I see lines about the same error. They say: "(EE) AIGLX error: vboxvideo does not export required DRI extension" and "(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering". Could this be the reason everything is crampt in 2 inches?22:32
shadeslayerCybertinus: im off to sleep..can you please take up the issue with someone else?22:34
Cybertinusshadeslayer: ok. Good night :)22:34
CybertinusI should do the same ;)22:34
Cybertinusshadeslayer: thnx for your help22:34

Zvezdichkobut unfortunately the same operation completely broke my KDE :(22:43
