Sarvattah sweet, xserver master PPA working great here again and ppa-purge is completely removing edgers and xorg-testing the right way now. think i'm going to move this PPA over to xorg-edgers team or just plain edgers when a RC comes out04:26
Sarvatthttp://sarvatt.com/downloads/ppa-purge-example.txt04:28
Sarvatteven removing the non-existant packages now04:28
brycehas anyone had a chance to test the kms ppa I posted yesterday?09:41
tjaaltonbryce: not me, lacking the hw10:25
brycethink I'm going to put together a usb key and have folks here at the sprint test10:27
brycetjaalton, could you take a peek at this if it is correct?  http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/248535/10:30
bryceSarvatt, do you think it would be worthwhile to include one of apw's kernels in the kms ppa?10:32
brycelooks like it's based on 2.6.31-4.22 maybe that's old10:33
brycebooting to test myself... bbiab10:50
tseliothey bryce11:28
virtualdwhere is the kms ppa and is the difference just a config option using kms by default?11:33
brycetseliot, heya11:35
brycevirtuald, the ppa is in the ubuntu-x-swat project11:35
bryceI'm running it right now11:35
brycedoing a dist-upgrade presently because dbus isn't launching11:36
virtualdok11:36
brycehttps://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat/+archive/kms11:39
virtualddidn't i see a linux package last time i looked?11:40
bryceuse the stock kernel11:40
bryceI've asked apw for if he wants us to test with a new kernel, still awaiting reply11:40
virtualdok11:41
virtualdthis is the "kms ppa" i saw linux in: https://launchpad.net/~apw/+archive/red11:41
virtualdafk11:42
tjaaltonbryce: looks about right12:12
brycetjaalton, thanks12:14
Sarvattbryce: should be fine without, linus puled the radeon drm stuff in that into 2.6.31-rc517:42
bryceok17:43
bryceapw has a 2.6.31-6ish kernel coming (still building)17:43
brycebtw ppa-purge seems to not be working reliably.  it'll comment out stuff from /etc/apt/sources.list but didn't actually revert back the packages17:44
brycewas thinking I could include mention of it in my blog post, but since it seems to not always work correctly I left it out; people will need to revert manually17:45
Sarvatteven the updated one? i updated it yesterday to fix some bugs17:54
Sarvattit wouldnt read any extra options before 17:54
virtualdit didn't remove libdrm-radeon1 for me today when i purged edgers, maybe because i didn't purge the old radeon-kms ppa19:37
Sarvattah yeah if you have multiple ppas with the same files newer than the distro it uses whats left when you remove the other19:44
Sarvattit just does an apt-get install package/dist for every file you have installed from the ppa19:44
Sarvattafter removing the source and running an apt-get update19:44
Sarvattyou downgraded to the radeon-kms ppa packages in that case19:44
Sarvattcan just run it again with sudo ppa-purge xorg-edgers -p radeon-kms -v to revert that too19:45
virtualdok i'll try that19:46
Sarvattthink im gonna remove the -v and make it always show that info19:46
virtualdi didn't use -v and it said twice that it kept libdrm-radeon1 :>19:47
Sarvattyeah thats apt-get failing19:57
=== maxb_ is now known as maxb
syn-ackI really need to check the /list more often. :P20:19
