ebroderI'm guessing that nobody wants to touch pulseaudio, but is anyone from ubuntu-sru around who could look at bug #330766? It's causing problems for our site deployment for users who run out of quota03:54
ubottuLaunchpad bug 330766 in pulseaudio "pulseaudio hangs, prevents login, home as ntfs" [Unknown,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33076603:54

DigitalDarknessEvening Everyone, I noticed today that OpenSuSE team is working on a "build-a-bear" distro thing on the web where you build and customize your own distro? Has there been any talks about ubuntu trying anything like this out?09:31
happyaronhi, anyone can pay some attention about this latex-related bug: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/texlive-bin/+bug/41396411:03
ubottuUbuntu bug 413964 in texlive-bin "got "invalid image dimensions" error" [Undecided,New]11:03
Ampelbeinhappyaron: this is related to bug 410242, having the same root cause. A debdiff is attached there which fixes that and needs sponsoring by a core-developer11:31
ubottuLaunchpad bug 410242 in texlive-bin "pdftex/libpoppler crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/41024211:31
Ampelbeinhappyaron: you can also test the package in the mentioned ppa, which should fix your issue, too.11:33
happyaronAmpelbein: but I want 'tor' package to be added to karmic, without it be corrected, I cannot upload it, :(11:34
Ampelbeinhappyaron: yeah, i'm waiting for it being sponsored, too.11:35
happyaronAmpelbein: without a right pdfTex, the document of tor package cannot be fully included, other things about tor are done and tested and I decide to maintain it for ubuntu if possible11:36
happyaronAmpelbein: when will it update to the new one?11:40
Ampelbeincjwatson: hi there, do you happen to have time to review bug 410242?11:41

Ampelbeinah, ok.14:43
directhexsladen, can you take a look at taoframework from sid? it's about a year newer than what's in karmic, and you're the one who's ubuntu'd that package before14:43
andresmujicathemuso: hi, about the bug #409759 i've found several variations of it (muted after boot, changing output throu pavucontrol).  The most common one is the jack sensing not working. This is a pulseaudio problem and not a kernel one *in most cases*.  for example bug #410769 that's being workd by crimsun, I was planning to use as metabug the one you're working on for the muting variation and the other one for the pavucontrol route.  wh15:25
ubottuLaunchpad bug 409759 in pulseaudio "[Karmic] No sound with jack output now with PulseAudio 1:0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu1" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/40975915:25
ubottuLaunchpad bug 410769 in linux "[karmic regression] jack sensing doesn't trigger toggle of Headphone/Speaker automatically upon insertion/removal 8086:284b Codec Analog Devices AD1984" [Medium,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/41076915:25
ionandresmujica: 1:0.9.16~test4-0ubuntu6 fixed the issue for me. The headphone output is now available in Sound Preferences.15:27
crimsunthe more adventurous types will likely want to track the ~ubuntu-audio-dev PPA anyhow.15:31
andresmujicaion: but you're getting automatic audio routing? or you are selecting manually the output?15:32
ionandresmujica: I have to switch it manually. I complained about that in the bug report. But at least i no longer have to enable the headphone output with alsamixer.15:33
andresmujicaion: that's the point, the regression is the lack of jack autosensing.  It should be route automatically15:33
crimsunbe careful when you're triaging those, because you need two separate test cases15:34
crimsunyou need to be able to reproduce it without pulseaudio running (i outlined the procedure in #ubuntu-audio-help earlier)15:34
ionI’ll upgrade to the PPA version. Let’s see what happens. :-)15:34
crimsunion: if you're being bitten by the analog devices/idt/sigmatel regression, i doubt the new PA version in our PPA will make any difference15:36
ioncrimsun: It would be nice if the Git commit-IDs in the changelog had the beginning of the commit message (whatever fits on the line) just after the ID.15:36

jdstrandcrimsun: hi! is there anything more I need to do with bug #400682? I checked the new kernel changelog, and it wasn't immediately apparnt that the fix was in there15:39

ioncrimsun: Ditto (with the commit-ID vs. the commit message) with the udev changelog entry. :-)15:40
crimsunjdstrand: i don't know offhand if manoj make public any kernel debs with those fixes, but that's what you need. the linux sitting in NEW does not contain those fixes.15:41
jdstrand:/15:41
jdstrandcrimsun: ok, thanks15:41
crimsunion: scott already rejected my proposal to backport the changeset; it's off my plate now15:42
