BrianEEvening, can anyone tell me how to use KDE/Dolphin's SVN integration?00:01
BluesKaj!svn00:03
ubottusvn is Subversion: an open-source revision control system, which aims to be a compelling replacement for CVS. See http://subversion.tigris.org/00:03
BrianEBluesKaj: That's not what I'm talking about. I heard that Dolphin has SVN support/integration, was wondering if someone could point that out to me00:03
BluesKajI beleive svn is cli only00:03
BluesKajanyway BrianE m good luck with svn ... it's always been flaky for me , so i avoid it if possible00:05
BrianEBluesKaj: I use SVN for team collaboration for the development projects I work on; it is NOT flaky. Right now I need to commit my latest work before going to bed, I just wanted to sample Dolphin's SVN integration; the command line is perfectly fine as a substitute00:06
BrianEWas hoping someone could point me to it, but alas :(00:06
BluesKajmaybe #svn can help00:07
BrianEIt's not an SVN question, it's a question of Dolphin / KDE, which is why I'm here =\00:07
BluesKajreally , seems like an svn question to me :)00:08
kaddimaybe try #kde then?00:09
BrianENot really... I'm asking where to find Dolphin's SVN integration. You wouldn't go to #ftp to ask how to login to an FTP resource with Dolphin00:09
BrianEkaddi: Will do00:09
Bosox20051What is the deal with this kubuntu-docs error?00:09
BrianEI just committed anyway, just wanna see how Dolphin handles it :-)00:09

kaddisyntax: isn't konversation 1.2 alpha 4 default in jaunty?00:10

kaddisyntax:  you can get it from the backports, but it would likely also update some of the other software you have installed.00:12
kaddisee here for a list of software in the backports: http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty-backports/allpackages00:13

eypherathGood evening....I need a little help concerning my music database...Amarok seems to be completely unable to either play or find all of my music files...I was told by a friend that this was due to some issues with the character encoding, as my files where copied onto a linux drive before stuff like that became an issue...02:11
eypherathNow he told me to use this script called convmv to convert the encoding to utf8, which I did, but it resulted just in amarok finally being able to find all files without crashing, but now it can't play any file at all..02:13

eMyllernavetz: me.04:25
navetzi want to know how to make the dirctory structure use a tree view. Does anyone know how to do that?04:25
eMyllercabrey: just install compiz and set it for use in 'default applications' @ system settings04:25
navetzI saw the editor in mac does this and it looks like a great feature04:26
eMyllernavetz: you using the filebrowser plugin?04:26

eMyllernavetz: yes, some plugins, but they have nothing to do it file system browser =P04:30
navetzeMyller: yes I see it but I don't see a tree view option :(04:30
cabreyok I'm using compiz now, but it is using metacity themes :(04:30
eMyllernavetz: isn't that hidden in the '»', due to overflow?04:31
navetzeMyller: nope I just expanded the window to be able to see it04:31
corigoIs there anyway to have the Task Bay only show the applications for the current desktop?04:31
eMyllernavetz: go to kate settings > file system browser settings > and check if this icon is enabled to your view04:31

corigoeMyller ... always04:37
navetzcorigo:i'll probably upgrade soon04:38
eMyllercorigo: anyway, 1) unlock plasma widgets (if locked) 2) click that icon in the panel's corner, to access *the panel* settings; 3) right click the task manager widget (now static) and go to "Task Manager Settings"04:39
eMylleryou might find what you're wanting there.04:40
DouglasKQuestion ... is it possible to have a wallet auto open at login?  For use with the network manager.04:42
Guest79591any themes out there that make the windows use less border space04:42
DouglasKGuest79591: check out www.kde-look.org ... you may find something there.04:43
eMyllerGuest79591: you can set it for any theme in system settings > appearance > windows04:44
corigoeMyller: As soon as I right click on the panel - the settings window disappears and clicking on the Panel Options - Panel Settings only reopens it.  I don't see any other options available to me that would allow me to define it as only displaying the open apps from the active dekstop04:44
eMyllercorigo: you will *not* use the panel options04:45
afeijohow can I recompile my kernel?04:46
eMyllercorigo: it's just a way to force widget's right click action04:46
eMylleropen panel settings > right click taskbar; panel settings will disappear, but a menu will open (the taskbar one); now just click task manager settings and a new dialog will open04:47
corigoThen I don't understand... maybe I am using the wrong terminology... my problem is that my panel is showing all open applications and I want it to only show the applications open in the active desktop... I thought that the primary panel was called the Task Bar, maybe I was wrong...,04:47
corigobecause I don't see any "Task Manager" widget per se04:49
Guest79591what there's no apt-get for motd04:51
Guest79591heh04:51
DouglasKOk, in Gnome, you can set it up so you don't need to type a password into the password manager to log into your wireless network.  Is this possible in KDE?04:51
navetzthis kate plugin is annoying! yarg04:53
eMyllercorigo: taskbar == task manager widget == the applet where you see a windows list in04:53
corigoeMyller: Ok, so the terminology is correct the task manager widget shows the windows list in the panel... but where is the widget itself so that I can right click on it?04:55
eMyllercorigo: are you seeing the window list?04:56
navetzIf I have KDE3.5 and I install KATE for KDE4.0 what will happen?05:01
eMyllernavetz: a portal for a parallel world will open and you'll see things you've never seen before.05:04

corigonavetz: It worked fine for me before I updated to 405:06
navetzcorigo: okay i'm doing it05:07
ian__YEAH LINUX05:07
eMyllercorigo: so follow exactly these steps:05:07
navetzI think I'll upgrade to kde4.3 soon05:08
eMyller1) access panel options; 2) hover the windows list. you might notice that it's static, movable now. right click on it. 3) panel settings will disappear and a context menu will open. this menu is the task manager's one. go to "Task Manager Settings".05:09
eMyller4) in the dialog that will open, check "Only show tasks from the current desktop". done.05:09
corigoHoo boy... you can lead a horse to water .... thanks, I've got it now... this interface is just way too cluttered with all the "other" settings options when I'm only expecting the one...05:11
corigoIt keeps happening to me exactly the same every time, and I always miss the option I'm looking for... One of these days I'll adjust...05:11
=== hemathor_ is now known as hemathor
eMyllercorigo: that's easy, you just couldn't access it before cuz the taskbar was full of windows.05:12
eMylleryou can access the same menu just by right clicking an *empty* area in the taskbar05:13
eMylleror forcing the menu by accessing panel options, like you did now.05:13
corigoeMyller: Unless I close all applications (including my irc) the task bar is always full, because (at least in 4.3) the tabs always expand to fill the space. Even one app fills the bar05:14

theoneaskinghi. I am in need of some assistance. this here is not 1 simple question, it is a rather long journey. It all starts with fixing microphone, but There are allot of small issues on the way. First of all. I have found a temporary way to fix mic which involves deactivating drivers, rebooting, then activate them again without rebooting. Now when running lsmod when the microphone is working I get this output "ctxfi"  84136 "used by" 3 , whil13:09

geniikaddi: alt-f2 wants the name of an executable file to run, not an URL16:30
kaddigenii: entering "/tmp" into alt-f2 opens the /tmp-folder in dolphin though. Just try for yourself ;)16:31
geniikaddi: /tmp is a directory name. something://   <-- URL form16:31
kaddigenii:  actually I didn't know that "trash:/" would work, I still don't know. It was something I tested yesterday for the people in #kde to see if the kio worked. They gave me the impression that this should work.16:33
kaddigenii: However I don't mind to much if this works in alt-f2, the thing I want to work is the wastebin-widget16:33

QuantumKaoswhy no cli?22:57
QuantumKaosOceanwatcher: why no cli? just open a terminal and type this      sudo mkfs.vfat -F32 /dev/sd**        is the easiest thing in the worldf22:57
OceanwatcherYeah... For you. Not for anyone I need to teach. Lets not get into that discussion. CLI is not the easiest thing in this case. Right-click format in Dolphin should be the right way to do it, but no such luck. When you do this once in a blue moon, you have to first find the instructions, then run a command to find what the drive is called - eh.. you have to find those instructions as well, then you can try to figure out the correct com23:01
Oceanwatcher No. a gui is far better to do this :-) For anyone that lives and breathes CLI, it is not a problem. But there is no reason why I or anyone else should have to become CLI ninjas... I guess I will boot into Windows and do it. It is actually faster! First Windows boot in 2 months :-D23:01
OceanwatcherUnless anyone can suggest a GUI program for Linux?23:02
=== nah is now known as Guest72774
QuantumKaosOceanwatcher: sorry to say that but ur not a good teacher if u keep ur students from learning the basics and prefer em to do such a simple task with a gui...23:04
OceanwatcherI am not keeping anyone FROM learning it, I am just not FORCING them to do it, and for someone that do not think the computer is the end of things, it makes a lot of sense. A computer is just a tool to do a job. Someone that want to write a book usually do not care the least about what goes on inside the computer. A computer should just work. Turn it on, start OpenOffice and write.23:06
OceanwatcherAnything CLI for a person like this is wasted time.23:06
