tjaaltonNg: right, the guy who made those patches is the g-p-m maintainer, so you need a newer g-p-m..06:58
tjaaltonwe all do :)06:58
hyperairwhat patches?07:13
tjaaltonhyperair: http://blogs.gnome.org/hughsie/2009/08/17/gnome-power-manager-and-blanking-removal-of-bodges/07:16
tjaaltonboth are in karmic, so we just need a newer g-p-m07:23
tseliotbryce: where's the new nvidia-driver? https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/08:07
tjaaltontseliot: what do you mean?08:21
tseliottjaalton: see the discussion in ubuntu-devel08:22
brycetseliot, rejected by archive admin again09:21
tseliotbryce: that was the one with -185 in the source09:22
tseliottjaalton: uploaded the one with 18009:22

kazadehi, I noticed that there are some patches here ( http://people.freedesktop.org/~glisse/kms/ ) for R600 KMS, can we expect to see KMS on R600 in Karmic soon?15:32
tjaaltondoubtful15:33
kazade:(15:35
tjaaltonbut that's just me, I don't know what bryce/apw have planned15:36
kazadeok, I just actually read the patch and it says: "This only provide a kms drm fb device for this hw and allow X to run with no acceleration" so yeh, not ready :)15:43
apwheh.  kernel support is there for some cards, but without mesa support its useless and that is a complex problem i believe15:43
kazadeit's typical that I only just upgraded from an R300 (AGP) (when I knew KMS was coming) to an R500 (PCIe) and now I can't go back to try out KMS :/15:44
kazade*R60015:45
kazadewell, at least I assume it's an R600... how can I tell?15:49
tjaaltonyeah, there are many moving parts, and I'm not sure if it's robust enough just yet15:53
kazadewell, I've got an HD3200... but I can't find anywhere whether that is an R500 chip, or R600... 15:54
tjaaltonr60015:56
kazadeah ok thanks15:56
tjaaltonhd2xxx-> is r6xx/7xx15:56
tjaaltoner15:57
tjaaltonwell, yes15:57

superm1jbarnes, i've actually got the hardware for bug 416792 at my desk for today. is there anything else you'd like me to add to that bug while i've got it?18:50
ubottuBug 416792 on http://launchpad.net/bugs/416792 is private18:50
jbarnessuperm1: zhenyu said he posted a fix to intel-gfx, but I don't ahve it handy18:52
jbarnesiirc it was for the agp device18:52
superm1intel-gfx being an intel kernel git tree, or ML or what?18:52
jbarnesml18:53
jbarnesintel-gfx@lists.freedesktop.org18:53
superm1i'm probably not too sure what i'm looking for, but if you were referring to http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/intel-gfx/2009-August/003824.html, the host bridge ID of this system is 0x0044 which was already supported18:59
jbarnessuperm1: could be the "VGA plane" patch19:01
jbarneslooks like that patch might also be in "Patch to fix fdo bug #21064"19:01
ubottuLaunchpad bug 21064 in gnome-panel "gnome panel crah when trying to add applet" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/2106419:01
superm1but those both look like they are the non-KMS case aren't they?19:03
jbarnesthere should be a kms equivalent for the vga one I think19:04
jbarnesthough maybe not... zhenyu is the real expert here19:04
superm1okay i won't get ahead of myself here then trying to look into it too much then :)19:04
jbarnesyeah sorry I'm only just starting to hack on iron lake stuff19:05
