BookmanI don't seem to be able to connect to my wireless router like I do in Ubuntu.  I go to Network Settings and then try to type in my Wireless WEP code and then press ok.  I go back to that same screen and my code is gone.  It never seems to take it.03:46
dwidmann_Riobe: It might help others help you if you specify what browser(s) you're having the problem with. I've been using Opera 10 b2 and I have the opposite problem (flash audio works but video doesn't)03:46
Riobedwidmann_: That is quite odd... o.O I'm using Firefox and seeing the issue.03:47
RiobeFirefox 3.0.13 to be exact.03:49
BookmanAnyone with any idea how to solve the wireless issue?  I'm pretty sure this is why I didn't go any further with Kubuntu last time I tried it :(03:52

Riobe_My audio playback device always fails. Does that mean I need a driver?04:01
Riobe_I'm not sure how to search for Linux drivers.04:01
dwidmann_Riobe_: if there's a driver available for your sound, there's a 95+% chance that you already have it.04:02
dwidmann_Riobe_: to see what driver it's trying to use, open a terminal and type in "lspci | grep snd"04:03
Riobe_dwidmann_: Then I have no idea what's wrong. I haven't heard my pc make any audio except the sounds the OS makes during login and logout since I started using kubuntu.04:03

gorgonizer_apparle: I have a lower spec card, and I am using the 185 version (though that is not in the Jaunty repos, so I would say the 180 version)21:22
BluesKajavihayb, I dropped medibuntu repos since they were sending me stripped versions of media vehicles like ffmpeg..yes it is but buyer beware21:22
apparlegorgonizer_: ok21:22
BluesKajavihayb,yes http://packages.medibuntu.org/karmic/index.html21:23
avihaybsttipped? how so?21:24
User__I already have medibuntu as a repo, when I try sudo apt-get install it gives me that package is not available, package libdvdcss2 has no installationcandidate21:24

Riobe_Hello, I have a graphics problem I was wondering if anyone could help with? I have a window (playstation emulator: pcsx) that is black unless I'm moving it around. I can see what it wants to be printing while I'm moving it. Can anyone help?22:09
avihaybwell, the alternet cd is onlysupposed to be for installation, what you need is the normal desktop / livecd22:09
Riobe_I'm not sure if this is just a problem with the program itself, of kubuntu/OpenGL22:09
Riobe_or*22:09
rain_is there way I can forece enable cube desktop with code injecting?22:10
CoyotesNot that familar with Kubuntu but it sounds like a driver problem.22:10
rain_i have driver22:10
avihaybRiobe_: then try some other 3d software. what card do you have? intel cards' had a regression in the drivers22:10
Riobe_I just have a built in video card  on the motherboard.22:10
rain_I have ATI radeon HD 487022:11
Riobe_Not sure what it is. Is there some free 3D software I could use to test this and see if it's a driver thing?22:11
avihaybRiobe_: yes: lspci will tell you what card you have22:11
Riobe_avihayb: Ok running it...wow...quite a bit of output from that.22:12
avihaybthere are tons of 3d games22:12
Riobe_avihayb: Intel Corporation 82915G/GV/910GL Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 04)22:12
CoyotesYeah he has Intel's builtin :)22:13
avihaybRiobe_: just as I guessed22:13
avihaybthere are tons of intel bugs22:13
Riobe_Ah, nice.22:13
avihaybthey can be fixed22:13
Riobe_So that's probably why it isn't working then.22:13
Riobe_avihayb: That's good to hear! Do you know how I could figure out how to fix it?22:14
CoyotesGood reason why I'll never convert my old i845/P3 laptop to Linux.  Barely can stand the thing in Windows Server 2003.  :/22:14
Riobe_lol22:14
rain_omg no one know here how force that cubee desktop work?22:14
avihaybwell, I have an intel card, and I have graphical issues even after the fix I applyed22:14
avihaybyou can try your luck in the #intel-gfx channle22:15
Riobe_rain_: I might.22:15
shadowhywinddoes anyone know if its possible to manually turn on/off say the caps lock or num/scroll lock light?22:15
Riobe_rain_: System Settings->Desktop->All Effects scroll down to the bottom and check desktop cube.22:15
Riobe_Then hit apply and Ctrl+F11 I think it is.22:15
CoyotesMy Athlon 64 (socket 939 in other words) motherboard has a nice ATI board attached.  LOL I couldn't find my old Quadro 4 but it's a lot better card than my laptop has builtin.22:15
Riobe_avihayb: Thanks for the help.22:16
avihaybshadowhywind: it should be. you can probebly find various packages concerning the keyboard lights in the repositories22:16
CoyotesThinking of looking for a cheap X1300/300 - anyone had good luck withthem?22:16
Riobe_rain_: Did that help?22:17
coz_hey guys  I installed  kde 4.3 on ubuntu 9.04 on two systems via synatpic  and I had this error on both system  E: kubuntu-docs: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 122:21
coz_solutions?22:21
avihayRiobe_ you might want to take a look at this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=113058222:22
CoyotesAre you wanting to totally disable the caps lock/num lock/scroll lock keys or just the lights?22:22
CoyotesMany packages use the scroll lock LED for indicators, for example.22:23
coz_sorry about that22:23
CoyotesHDD activity, Network traffic, alternate keyboard layouts, etc.22:23
shadowhywindCoyotes: oh sorry, i was in another window22:25
shadowhywindCoyotes: My thinking, Is I am getting a replacement laptop, which doesn't have much multimedia keys. So I believe there is no mute light. So I was going to turn say my numlock into a mute light22:26
CoyotesXmodmap is useful for changing the key's behaviour, but I'm still looking for a LED tool.22:26
rain_System Settings->Desktop->All Effects scroll down to the bottom and check desktop cube<<  I have Window titled "CompizConfig Settings Manager"22:26
rain_u meant this window22:26
rain_?22:26
CoyotesBah wait KDE overrides :/22:26
shadowhywindCoyotes: huh?22:27
rain_riobe_: it din't help22:27
rain_why u keep telling me not working mehtods?22:27
CoyotesInstead of using xmodmap, you have to go to the control panel.22:27
Riobe_rain_: Ah, sorry about that then, I'm not sure what else to do.22:27
CoyotesControl center*22:28
Riobe_rain_: That's how I got it working.22:28
rain_is there anything elese?22:28
rain_some compiz package?22:28
ZengolCan anyone tell me what software i can use to access my pc through IP?22:28
CoyotesREgional and accessibility -> keyboard22:28
Coyotesthen enable xkb options :)22:28
rain_even google dont have tutorials for that :S22:28
shadowhywindCoyotes: thanks, that should help with reassigning shortcuts and what not22:29
shadowhywindCoyotes: I am still praying that it comes with some mute light indicator22:29
rain_lol22:30
rain_why all ppl only upload pics about cube desktop, why don't no one write tutorial on google22:30
shadowhywindrain_ whats your problem?22:32
rain_cant find tutorial for bube desktop22:32
avihaybrain_: it works "out of the box", or rather "out of the cube" for me22:32
rain_I have marked "desktop cube" in window titled "CompizConfig Settings Manager"22:33
Coyoteshttp://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~pi9s-nnb/floyd/  <-- could read this guy's source to find out how to make a program yourself :)22:33
rain_but it have no offect22:33
rain_<avihayb> :where is "out of the box"22:34
avihaybrain_ but are you useing compiz22:34
rain_I use compiz22:34
shadowhywindCoyotes: thansk, will have to look into that22:34
CoyotesAh:   https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-users/2009-April/180696.html22:35
Coyotesxset will work22:35
avihaybrain_ are you sure you are useing compiz and not kwin?22:35
rain_yes22:35
CoyotesYou can make a tool that mutes the audio and calls Xset when you push Numlock.22:35
Coyoteserr Mute*22:35
CoyotesFN-Mute is somethinglike F1122:36
shadowhywindCoyotes: I could hugh you at the moment22:36
Coyoteslol yw22:36
avihaybrain_ maybe it isn't configured to use your costume settings22:36
rain_compiz = crap that cant even draw  single cube22:36
CoyotesAll the knowledge on the WWW and a really crappy index :P22:36
CoyotesKnowledge without organization... yuck :)22:36
rain_what conf file is for this conf?22:36
rain_and where can I find compiz configuration+22:37
shadowhywindCoyotes: yup, the next step that I was going to do, is since the keyboard I believe has the FN-mute, stuff.. I am going to hopefully set up a shourtcut key, to enable say F11 to be FN-mute22:37
avihaybrain_: go to the k-menu and see if you can find something called Desktop Effects22:37
shadowhywindCoyotes:  if that makes any since22:37
rain_Y22:37
rain_i found it22:37
rain_what next?22:37
avihaybrun it. it should show you some options22:38
rain_yea22:38
avihaybI'm guessing it's on standrard effects or extra effects22:38
avihaybyou should pick costume effects, and click apply and done22:38
rain_I selected custom effects22:38
rain_i did it before I joined that irc channel22:39
avihaybonly then should the compiz manager work properly, or so I understand22:39
avihaybhumm22:39
avihaybwell, you can still disable compiz and use kwin22:39
rain_lol22:40
rain_then what's the point of compiz?22:40
avihaybwell, compiz works faster then kwin, as far as I'm told, and can feel, but I don't like it, it crashes alot on me, really annoing22:40
avihayballso some issues with titlebar not drawing properly, windows apper to be stuck...22:41
