shadeslayer!mysql15:35
ubottuLAMP is an acronym for Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP. However, the term is often used for setups using alternative but different software, such as Perl or Python instead of PHP, and Postgres instead of MySQL. For help with setting up LAMP on Ubuntu, see  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ApacheMySQLPHP - See also the Server CD installation process (different in Edgy+)15:35
shadeslayerZeik: ^^15:35
DragnslcrZeik- the packages in 9.04 are all MySQL 5.1. If you specifically need 4.0 for some stupid reason, you'd have to either use an old version of Ubuntu or compile from source15:38
ZeikI am currently running 8.10.15:47
ZeikCan't run 9 due to problems with the Intel chipset.15:47
Dragnslcr8.10 uses MySQL 5.015:49

DragnslcrLuisJa- did you read the announcement on the Kubuntu site (link is in the topic)?21:19
BluesKajDragnslcr, doesnt wext work and you also have to set the encryption wep being least secure and try wpa if possible, then you'll prolly have to include the wifi pw set up whatever it was in windows21:19
StateSah, my bad, ok, I'll switch to the ubuntu channel... thanks ;)21:19
NicedayStateS: yes. but the +1 channel please21:20
LuisJaDragnslcr: dont understand what i have to do with that "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu jaunty main" thing :S21:20
TrijntjeHi all, after installing guest additions for kubuntu 9.04 in vbox i can only start in text mode. Any ideas what could be the cause?21:20
NicedayLuisJa: you have to add it to /etc/apt/sources.list and then sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade21:20
DragnslcrBluesKaj- wext didn't work, and I found a site that suggested using hostap for prism chips. I don't see anyplace to enter encryption method21:21
P_KableHi, I'm having a problem, it seems like I installed some software that installed gnome, now everytime I log in I get gnome, no more KDE, I have to select KDE before login in, how do I change this automatically please ???21:21

BluesKajDragnslcr, when you try to connect to the router , wicd will ask for the pw and encryption setting option21:22
DragnslcrI don't think it's getting that far21:23
BluesKajyou have to disconnect the eth021:23
P_KableAnybody knows how to set KDE as default session please ?21:23

Hellmark[S10e]Question. I'm on a netbook, and I wonder if there is anything to do about windows that are larger than the resolution of the screen21:30
MTGapCan anyone tell me why my date navigator appears like this: http://imgur.com/vY5r6.png it hasn't always looked like this but one day it just changed to where most dates aren't visible21:31
Hellmark[S10e]I frequently run into preferences dialogs that are taller than the screen, making the bottom part hang off the screen.21:31
Hellmark[S10e]is there anything I can do about that21:32
CyberKitsuneCan I complain about KDE 4.3.1 stuff on Jaunty in here?21:32
Hellmark[S10e]I know KDE4 has the zoom feature, but it seems to only work on the plasma desktop21:32
TrijntjeHi all, after installing guest additions for kubuntu 9.04 in vbox i can only start in text mode. Any ideas what could be the cause?21:33
|CyberKitsune|I just updated to KDE 4.3.1 and, knetworkmanager is crashing with a segmentation fault after about a minute21:35
=== bruno is now known as Solo
ubuntu_hello there, installed Apache, PHP and MySQL on localhost. phpinfo() outputs mysql support but i can not find mysqd in etc/init.d to start the mysql server?21:35
|CyberKitsune|Which is a problem, as that drops my WiFi21:35
ubuntu_anyone available to offer some help, please?21:45
Dragnslcrubuntu_- did you install the MySQL server, or just the client?21:46
PSiL0|CyberKitsune|: Unfortunately, I do not not use knetworkmanager.  After I had my fill of the networkmanager plasmoid, I opted to install wicd.  Wicd had less gnome dependencies than knetworkmanager, so I opted for it.21:47
ubuntu_Dragnslcr: the server, actually21:47
PSiL0|CyberKitsune|: sorry I could not be more of a help21:47
ubuntu_mysql-server-core5. to be exact21:47
|CyberKitsune|knetworkmanager doesn't have any GNOME dependencies21:47
PSiL0|CyberKitsune|: The packager added them I guess.... sudo apt-get -s install knetworkmanager spewed out a lot of gnome stuff I did not want or need21:49
BluesKajDragnslcr, yes , until the eth0/wired is disconnected , there will be no wifi networks found21:49
|CyberKitsune|PSiL0: You must of had other packages with issues then21:50

Dario_AndresHi.. is "kdesudo" a K/Ubuntu addon ?21:59
BluesKajDario_Andres, kdesudo is used in the run command for graphical commands22:01
Dario_AndresBluesKaj: but AFAIK it is only a kubuntu addition, and it doesn't exist in KDE original sources22:02
BluesKajdario itwas adopted in edgy I think22:02
DragnslcrBluesKaj- even after disconnecting the wired, no wireless networks showed up. Dunno what the problem is. I'll deal with it some other time22:03
BluesKajDragnslcr, make sure the router is set to braodcast22:04
DragnslcrMine wasn't, but even putting in the SSID didn't work. It didn't pick up any other routers either (my router could pick up about 8 others, so I know there are some around)22:05

BookmanI am trying to create a dvd....I have created the video_ts and audio_ts directories with devede.  If I just burn a dvd with those directories, will it work with a standard dvd player?23:55
leaf-sheepBookman: That's the idea.  Devede does not burn it for you or does it only create ISO?23:56
BluesKajDragnslcr, you may need to find alinux driver for that chipset seeing it's 5 yrs old , that could be why there's no response from wicd . It assumes either a working kernel module or a suitable driver for wicd to work.23:58
