nixternalhrmm, who keeps breaking the apport support in kdelibs?04:25
jjessei do04:29
ScottKjjesse: Get your keyboard working?04:29
jjesseScottK: haven't had more time to work on it been away all day04:29
ScottKAh.04:29
jjessei can't get the esc hit the right time04:29
nixternalScottK: should I upload a fixed kdelibs, or should I just commit the changes to bzr?04:31
ScottKnixternal: I'd upload it.04:31
jjessethinking about just reloading it w/ a fresh load of alpha 504:31
nixternalroger that04:31
* ScottK is currently working on NBS.04:36
nixternaldoh!04:41
nixternalkubuntu-feedback plasmoid...I have no idea where Riddell got the source from, but it is not correct at all :)04:41
nixternalpeople are emailing me with all kinds of issues :D04:42
ScottKWouldn't it be handy if you were a core-dev and could upload the right thing.04:47
nixternalya, maybe I should become a core dev :p04:57
nixternalI am fixing it now, and will upload the correct release04:57
ScottKYeah!04:58
ScottKnixternal: I discovered last night the kairmode can also work as kteenager_supposed_to_be_concentrating_on_homework_mode.04:59
nixternalhey, it will not be a 0.1 release but a 0.2 rleease, will you have to push that through for me?04:59
nixternallol04:59
ScottKBug fix only.  No problem.04:59
ScottKJust file a bug documenting what you did and it's cool.05:00
nixternalright05:00
nixternaltesting it to make sure that it does in fact work05:01
ScottKGood plan05:01
nixternaland it does :)05:02
nixternalwhat happened is Riddell uploaded the version that was hardcoded to a survey url, and I had created a PHP script that the widget would connect to and pass the version info and what not, and then the script would scrape the survey website for the correct version as well as match it up to the latest alpha/beta/whatever release05:03
* ScottK decides not to make any snide comments about php.05:11
nixternalmake them, I hate it, but it was handy for a remote script in this case05:13
nixternalthough, the amount of code it took, could have been done in probably half the lines with python05:14
nixternaljeesh kdelibs takes a bit to build05:25
nixternalall of this just to edit one patch (kubuntu_51_launchpad_integration.diff) to s/p/P in the apport-kde line05:25
nixternalnew kdelibs uploading now05:31
* spstarr builds today's Qt 4.6 git snapshot and KDE trunk05:39
nixternaluploaded to repos and pushed to bzr for kdelibs05:43
spstarri wonder if I should setup a PPA for Qt 4.6/KDE trunk05:50
ScottKWe need help with making Qt 4.5.2 and KDE 4.3.1 better.05:51
jithinehi guys. If there is a issue with release notes who to contact.06:01
jithinethe feedback on the page is not working.06:02
jithinewhen loggin in its giving an error that unknown timezone asia/culcutta06:03
ScottKjithine: nixternal just uploaded a fix for it.06:04
jithinethe forum timezone issue? cool! I had the issue for months06:05
nixternalScottK: that is another issue that jithine is talking about....I just saw the same a few minutes ago06:07
nixternalbut on a different page06:07
ScottKOh06:07
nixternaland then I also noticed "Internal Server Errors" with LP as well06:08
jithineScottK: its the same error06:08
jithineScottK: UnknownTimeZoneError06:08
jithine'Asia/Kolkata'06:08
ScottKOh06:08
ScottKHopefully nixternal can fix that one too.06:08
nixternalI don't mess with that stuff thankfully :)06:09
nixternalnewz2000 works on that stuff06:09
jithineThe feedback I wanted to give is this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=790326906:09
jithineits about the social features in release notes. unfortunatesly all of them should be in known issues.06:09
nixternalok, time for sleep...i got a new power washer today and spent the entire day power washing everything!06:13

Guest87394In the kubuntu netbook remix alpha 5, in the installation to hard disk, the first dialog is to big for the screen of a eeepc 701 (resolution 800x480).16:30
ScottKshtylman: ^^ He has some ideas on how to solve this without a total redesign.16:33
shtylmanScottK: can I get a screenshot? ... also .. no .. not really. We never planned to be able to handle 480px vertically and that is just too small of a resolutiion16:34
ScottKGuest87394: ^^16:34
ScottKshtylman: Yes, I recall.  I thought it might be worth discussion of alternative approaches since he had some ideas.  I have no idea how impossible they are to implement.16:35
Guest87394Ok, I will launch the netbook :-)16:35
shtylmanScottK: gotcha...well, once i see the screenshot I can give it some thought...I do have a possible solution though. I can query the resolution and load a different stylesheet with smaller fonts and smaller central area16:35
shtylmanbut realistically we do have to draw the line some where16:36
shtylmanbecause honestly at that resolution the map display is probly most of the screen16:36
shtylmanand the slideshow would also be too big for that screen iirc16:37
ScottKshtylman: Agreed.  There are a fair number of 480 devices, so it'd be nice to support it if we reasonably can.  IMO, for the installer, you're the decider on reasonable.16:39
shtylmanScottK: if there are a number of devices and I can (after seeing the screenshot) squeze things down with just a stylesheet change I will, cause honestly that is easy to do. If it would require moving widgets physically...I will probly be less inclined.16:40
shtylmanI would need to look at what would be *reasonable* small font sizes for those screens16:41
ScottKGuest87394: So I think you can help out here.16:42
ScottKSince you have the device.16:42
Guest87394_EeePc  http://rapidshare.com/files/276445062/eeePC701_instqllqtionHD_snapshot1.png.html16:52
Guest87394There is also a possibility (oldtimed) to propose a virtual screen. It's in another level but could be more general.16:55
shtylmanGuest87394: Guest87394_EeePc: alright...I will take a look at trying to make it vertically smaller...the buggest problem pages are going to be the user setup screen which has alot of input fields and labels stacked vertically. The keyboard display screen and timezone may also be a problem.16:55
shtylmanGuest87394: im not sure if that would be possible...16:56
shtylmanGuest87394: I could provide a scroll bar...but I don't want to do that...ever16:56
shtylmanit ruins the look16:56
Guest87394I think it's possible since the possibility in the ubuntu remix exist.16:57
shtylmanI will probly just descrease the font size and then make everything vertically smaller and it will just be that way for very small screens16:57
shtylmanwhat does ubuntu remix do?16:58
Guest87394Show the install to HD.16:58
Guest87394shtylman I have try to move other dialog with "alt right click-move". It works. This suggest that a decoration in the install dialogs could be set to a wrong value (as maximized).17:48
freinhardhi!17:49
freinhardjust updated to the most recent knetworkmanager 0.1~svn1017841-0ubuntu2~jaunty317:50
freinhardis it supposed to work? clicking wlan a essid does nothing17:50

reficabsolutely :)18:32
spstarr;)18:32
shtylmanGuest87394: I don't fully understand what you mean...18:37
=== heHATEme is now known as vorian
Guest87394shtylman One eeepc when you have a dialog box which is to big for your screen, you have the possibility to move the dialog with the alt key pressed the left button pressed and moving the pointer.18:46
Guest87394Then the cursor change in a four arrow shape.18:46
Guest87394You release the mouse button and the dialog is moved.18:47
shtylmanGuest87394: thats not an eeepc thing...thats a window manager thing18:51
shtylmananyhow know how I mark a bug as low importance?18:55
Guest87394Yes.18:55
shtylmanGuest87394: so what is your point?18:57
a|wenshtylman: eh, click in the importance field and choose low (assumig you have the appropriate rights)18:57
neversfeldeis there sometinh that changes *.desktop files? Probably any translation system?18:58
neversfeldes/somethinh/something18:58
shtylmana|wen: guess i don't have the rights then :)18:58
a|wenshtylman: heh :) you can apply for bug-control membership ... or just join the rest of us as ubuntu developer / motu of any kind ;)18:59
shtylmanI see :)19:00
nixternalryanakca: hey, I need the header stuff for h.k.o that I need to add to the docs...I am going to start working on it again and have it on my todo list. this project == PITA!!! :)19:07
Guest87394shtylman I guess medium, not for the Eeepc701 (which is quite old and I have found a acceptable work around) but for developper on exotic hardware.19:09
* Riddell away until thursday19:12
Guest87394shtylman A correct workaround for the installer on eeepc 701 is to use an extermal monitor (with can have higher resolution (until 1200x1600) ).19:12
shtylmanRiddell: unacceptable :p19:12
Riddelltry not to panic19:13
* nixternal runs around like a chicken with its head cut off19:13
nixternalPANIC!(!(!(&#!&#(!&!!19:14
shtylmanbut but...!! help!19:14
shtylmanwhat will we do?!19:14
nixternalryanakca: I will also need a checkout of the website so i can run it and test locally to make things easier as well...I think I will need this, unless you know of another way to do the testing19:16
freinhardRiddell: knetworkmanager is broken on jaunty, go fix it! ;)19:22

sghHi. What is happening with dosemu in karmic. It segfaults if running it as an ordinary user. Running it as root works fine though. mmap_min_addr is set to 0. Any ideas or can someone confirm this?22:48
neversfeldesgh: please report a bug in launchpad. I guess the Kubuntu dev channel is not the best place to talk about it.22:50
sghneversfelde: Its on karmic so I was hoping for a talk on what migh be wrong. But I will report the bug. Thanks :)22:53
a|wensgh: dosemu is not really kde-stuff :) so kubuntu-devel isn't really the best place to find people knowing anything about it23:13
sgha|wen: ah ok .... of cause for ubuntu-issues in general maybe #ubuntu+1 would be better. Did not realize that this i of cause KDE-specific. Sorry :)23:47
a|wenno worries :)23:48
