tgm4883williammanda, for a few minutes00:57
williammandahey buddy...how are you?00:57
tgm4883good, getting everything back up since I switched to 0.2200:58
tgm4883or -trunk rather00:58
williammandais it good?00:58
williammandathe UI specfically00:58
tgm4883yea, pretty nice00:59
tgm4883I like the mythvideo changes00:59
williammandait has the VDPAU?00:59
tgm4883don't know, my card doesn't support it01:00
tgm4883mostly i'm talking just the frontend here, looks a lot better01:00
williammandayea....was looking at xbmc ui this weekend01:01
williammandais it like that?01:01
tgm4883I haven't tested xbmc lately01:02
williammandathere was a reference on mythv site about one of the UI is like xbmc01:02
williammandaanyway....01:03
williammandaI have a question concerning the metadata for videos01:03
williammandaif I'm trying to get the artwork and info for a video.....what is the best way to do that?01:04
williammandanone of my videos that I have ripped have any artwork or info01:05
tgm4883are you using -trunk?01:05
williammandano ....using the latest stable01:05
williammandawith 9.0401:06
tgm4883are you using imdb.pl or tmdb.pl?01:06
williammandanot sure....this is a learning experience01:07
tgm4883well unless you changed it, you are using imdb.pl01:08
tgm4883which, meh, gets broken every time they change their site01:08
williammandaok...this is just the mythvideo installed by mythbuntu01:08
tgm4883I'd switch to tmdb.pl01:08
williammandaok...how?01:08
tgm4883sec01:08
williammandasure01:08
williammandaon another note I was answering a bunch of posts today on mythbuntu forums....alot of strange questions01:10
williammandaI feel sorry for you!01:10
tgm4883ok, so you need to grab some files from mythtv svn, and then change some settings in mythvideo01:12
tgm4883http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Tmdb.pl01:12
williammandaI found the tmdb on the mythtv wiki01:12
williammandagot that site01:13
williammandaso should I just follow that page?01:13
tgm4883yea, it doesn't have the mythvideo changes you need to make though01:14
williammandaok01:14
tgm4883IIRC, it's just changing imdb to tmdb in mythvideo01:14
williammandawould changing over to thr trunk be better?01:14
tgm4883no, you can use it fine with 0.2101:15
williammandaok01:15
williammandaso I'm not using the subversion correct?01:18
tgm4883it's the same script for trunk and 0.2101:22
tgm4883if you have subversion installed, use that, if not, use the other one01:22

tgm4883ok, in the frontend, go to the general mythvideo settings01:37
tgm4883it should have 4 commands for getting video data01:37

tgm4883williammanda, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=110152701:54
orificium_Anyone familiar with troubleshooting sound issues?  I'm running mythbuntu 9.04 + latest auto-builds.  Was running fine earlier.  Installed Eclipse and for wahtever reason, I get no sound in any applications.01:57
tgm4883volume button?01:57
orificium_Rebooted several times, tried reinstalled alsa-utils, but no luck.   Checked all my connections.01:57
tgm4883muted?01:57
orificium_Nope, not muted.  I even started up my box in a live cd, and sound worked.01:58
orificium_Strnge thing is, that when I reboot, it does start muted01:58
* tgm4883 shrugs01:58
tgm4883I'm not sure what eclipse would have changed01:59
orificium_I haven't tried removing eclipse, but I didn't think it would matter.01:59
jbs12345tgm, it is an ati...02:00
jbs12345video02:00
jbs12345just fixed the driver to correct one02:00
orificium_What can I run in the console to just send random noise to my soundcard?02:00
jbs12345and still that issue02:00
jbs12345ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics02:02
orificium_don't hear anything with "aplay /dev/random"02:03
orificium_bah, gonna end up having to start fresh02:04
williammandatgm4883, I did the command from the post and I don't get the "enter imdb #" when in the video manager.....what's next02:10
tgm4883williammanda, you should now be able to search normally. If you can't, then i'm not sure whats next02:10
tgm4883you might be able to do it via command line02:10
williammandasearch how?02:10
tgm4883err, press M on your keyboard and it should pop up a menu letting you search02:11
tgm4883jbs12345, take a look at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1188912&highlight=double+video&page=202:11
tgm4883might be an issue with the deinterlacer you are using02:11
=== gbutters_away is now known as gbutters
orificium_The ChanServ beep from chatzilla comes through though?  WTF.02:15
williammandatgm4883, so I will need to setup each video manually? Using the M in the video manager02:17
orificium_g02:20
williammandatgm4883, if that is the case....it seems to pull down the video description but not the artwork02:22
orificium_how does the beep from chatzilla work, but no other sound works.  that's petty damn ridiculous02:23
Zinnorificium_: Please watch your language.02:23
tgm4883williammanda, check the permissions on the posters directory at /var/lib/mythtv/posters02:26
tgm4883and yes, you have to do it per video02:26
tgm4883alternatively, you could grab the imdb_bulk_updater script02:26
williammandais that on mythtv?02:26
williammandais that the "fill mythvideo metadata.pl"?02:30
tgm4883williammanda, no, ryan pisani makes it, you can google it and grab it from his website02:39
williammandatgm4883, ryan site is based on imdb not tmdb...is this ok?02:41
orificium_So I uninstalled pulseaudio, and my sound works again.  strange stuff03:02
williammandaanyone use the .22 repos?03:18
orificium_i am03:18
williammandawhat did you do to get there from .21?03:19
orificium_installed mythbuntu 9.04 using ISO, rebooted, enabled restricted drivers and enabled nvidia 180.x, downloaded mythbuntu repos package, installed packaged, enabled trunk, and ran sudo apt-get upgrade03:21
orificium_sudo apt-get dist-upgrade was giving me a different.  upgrade worked out better for me03:22
williammandaso the trunk is .22....03:22
orificium_yeah03:23
williammandaso is it stable?03:23
orificium_I run it pretty sucessfully03:25
williammandayou didn't have 9.04 running previously....my main concern is the upgrade03:27
orificium_Yeah I started fresh.03:27
orificium_you could backup your myth database03:28
williammandahow to backup the database?03:28
orificium_Isn't there an option in Mythbuntu Control Center?03:29
orificium_hm, maybe not, but I believe there is information on the wiki.03:30
orificium_http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Database_Backup_and_Restore03:31
williammandathere is no option for a backup in MCC03:31
williammandayour post is for .2203:32
orificium_hm, you should keep reading03:34
orificium_"Although the scripts are only distributed with post-0.21 versions of MythTV, they were written to work with any version of MythTV (including 0.21-fixes and before)."03:34
orificium_there is also http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Backup_your_database03:35
williammandaok I need to read alittle more03:36
orificium_Oh I also had to run mythfrontend -r to reset the theme after installing .2203:41
williammandawhat is "-r"?03:42
orificium_And I'm not sure if it'll matter, bu I avoided installing mytharchive until after I had things working per a recommendation from this channel03:42
orificium_Resets the theme03:42
orificium_mythfrontend --help03:42
orificium_Is there a particular reason you want to upgrade to .22?03:43
williammandasure03:43
williammandawhy did you?03:43
orificium_If you're not looking forward to issues/troubleshooting, you might want to wait untilt he official release.  I understand .22 will be on 9.1003:44
orificium_I wanted to see the new themes and try out VDPAU03:44
williammandame too on your last statement03:44
williammandaI really don't care about issues03:45
williammandaI want to try out the changes03:46
orificium_Note that VDPAU only works with nvidia 8 and 9 series cards03:47
williammandaBut I would like to know about the issues when changing from stable to trunk03:47
williammandaVDPAU is no issue03:48
williammandacan I keep the same databasee info03:49
orificium_That, I'm not sure of.03:49
orificium_http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythVideo_.22_Transition_Guide03:50
Shadow__Xwilliammanda: unless you are a mythtv dev it is recommended you stay away from trunk05:51
Shadow__Xunless you know how to fix the problems that may arise05:52
Shadow__Xand follow al the mailing lists05:52
Shadow__Xmeaning there is alot of work ahead easiest way is just to wait  for .2205:52
dserbanIs it normal for mythbuntu to lock after install?  Ie, I just finished the install... black screen, screen goes into standby, and... nothin'06:19
dserbanWell, I guess that was a dumb question, how do I get mythbuntu to let me see dmesg, and all other messages while booting?06:20
dserbanok now.. upon re-install, it seems that it gets stuck on "Scanning the mirror".... wth do I do to tell it to retry, or ... something?06:36
dserbanSIGUP?06:36
dserbanerr SIGHUP?06:36
dserbanwow n/m i got it.. heh... I feel way less outta control here :P06:37
wombo_Because LIRC 0.5.3 is not going to be included, if we do have to download it from a PPA will the break or not enable us to use the configuration options within MCC?11:32
=== __Mazga is now known as _Mazga
huffcsLong story - short:  Built MythBuntu 9.04 test system on 15GB HD no problem.  Built one on intended production 40GB HD and it gets stuck during boot.  Finds MBR code and comes up to "grub>" prompt.  What gives?  Looking at the contents of the /boot partition from the MythBuntu Live CD environment, it looks ok. I'm stumped.  Main difference between the 15GB drive partitioning and the 40GB drive was the size of the root partitio14:40
huffcsWhile I was waiting for help, I was rooting through the mythbuntu forum some more and ran across info on repairing grub.  The interesting thing is that the instructions talk about executing the command "find /boot/grub/stage1".  I don't find that, but I DO find /grub/stage1.  Is the difference because I put /boot on it's own partition?15:50
djdanskaI have an msi motherboard w/phenom x4 9550 and i can't boot the cd. acpi errors. I tried putting my hard drives in ide mode and that did not help either. Same issue with all versions of ubuntu. I was able to boot ubuntu/mythbuntu once via wubi but i want to put it on an entire drive. Any tips on getting it to work?20:33

puffI'm having problems with the mythbuntu installer.  When I run it, nothing happens.  this is on mythbuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso.22:07
puffI'm trying to install mythbuntu onto a box with an existing ubuntu jaunty install that I don't care about overwriting.22:07
puffI burned a live CD, booted the box up under it, selected the "install" menu item, it gave me a mythbuntu desktop, I double click on "install" and some text flashes in the menu bar at the top,  "Starting administrative application", then disappears, nothing happens.22:07
puffLooking at the icon properties, it just invokes "ubiquity mythbuntu_ui".  When I type that at the shell, it just returns without any messages.  There's no --verbose flag for ubiquity.22:08
