[00:28] Hi, could someone reset my bug control account? it's resetting soon. Thanks (showard314) [03:03] hi guys [03:35] hi drew212 [06:10] !ping [06:10] pong! [06:17] #canonical-2009-09-17-07h16 === asac_ is now known as asac === dholbach_ is now known as dholbach [09:44] dholbach: hi daniel [09:55] hi alourie|work [10:18] Hi dholbach :) [10:22] I need an advice [10:23] If I'm trying to split a package in 2, how do I say which files end up in which package? [10:23] hi matti [10:23] alourie|work: specify in debian/.install debian/.install [10:24] alourie|work: might be mor on topic in #ubuntu-motu or #ubuntu-devel [10:24] dholbach: I did, but it didn't help [10:24] dholbach: should I take it there? [10:24] you might get more reseponses there :) === ogra_ is now known as ogra === ogra_ is now known as ogra === ogra_ is now known as ogra [15:03] Boo === seb128_ is now known as seb128 [16:21] * jacob really wishes that people would be more specific.. ex. #401494 [16:24] jacob, lol [16:24] someone tell him to buy a new one [16:24] :P [16:25] also, I hate how I can never get ubottu to provide bug links when I reference them. :P [16:26] jacob, join #ubuntu-bugs-announce to get links etc :P [16:26] eeebotu does this [16:27] BlackFate: right, but ubottu/ubot4 would usually repeat a link for a bug when you say the number [16:27] as in, bug #401494 [16:27] Launchpad bug 401494 in ubuntu "keyboard dosn't work in terminal" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/401494 [16:27] like that. :) [16:27] (note to self: say "bug" before the number) [16:27] ah didnt know this small detail. im new around freenode [16:28] welcome to the network that will consume all of your free time. ;) [16:29] jacob, well im a helper in a greek network, i know its prety time consuming :P [16:35] hggdh: wrt bug 430953 I just think that one feature not existing in the help is a rather large oversight [16:35] Launchpad bug 430953 in coreutils "coreutils man pages are incomplete" [Medium,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/430953 [16:37] bdmurray: my personal position is that the man and info pages should match. Old, hard-core UNIX users are quite used to man, not to info (myself, for example). But upstream position has been rather firm in that [16:38] the man pages are usually only changed when an error is spotted on them... [16:38] hggdh: how about saying its a bug becasue @1234567890 is not a string? "display time described by STRING, not `now'" [16:40] we can try... but I would expect a response to adjust the info page *only*. We can, nevertheless, try to propose a patch with the correction on both man and info [16:40] well some commands are not in man [16:40] like "let" [16:42] The point is if we look at 'man date' and "info coreutils 'date invocation'" it is easy to see that the info pages are much more elaborate [16:45] bdmurray: 'date -d @1234567890' -- "@1234567890" *is* a string ;-) [16:59] bdmurray: one thing I just thought: the --help should state that the help (and 'man') output is simplified, and "please see info coreutils 'date invocation' for full options" [16:59] I think this would be accepted upstream [17:02] that'd be something, I guess its not really that important though [17:04] BlackFate: 'let' as in bash scripting? [17:04] bdmurray: I am not sure it is not important. I do *not* like this behaviour ;-) [17:16] where should i check if the splash wont show up while booting ? [17:20] <^arky^> ejat: you can remove 'splash' entry in grub [17:20] it happened after my latest upgrade [17:21] it will show the splash when restart or shutdown .. [17:21] but not at the start .. [17:47] how can I manage a report that is directly (apparently) a conectivity issue with a mirror? === thiras_ is now known as Thiras === BjornT_ is now known as BjornT === marjomercado is now known as marjo === jjesse_ is now known as jjesse === BUGabundo1 is now known as BUGabundo [23:06] good evening [23:06] ola alourie [23:07] BUGabundo: hya [23:07] brb, need to reboot [23:19] * alourie is back [23:19] hello [23:22] hey [23:25] hi [23:29] anyone know why Karmic Koala live cd daily build, hangs in an endless loop, just as the boot music starts to play, x86 and AMD64 affected. [23:30] BrairRabbi: please ask on #ubuntu+1 [23:34] hey BUGabundo [23:34] you might notice i subscribed you to a compiz bug earlier ;) [23:34] hey crimsun [23:34] I did [23:35] thanks so much [23:35] it seems that the keybindings are broken for everybody [23:35] fell free to sub me to the readahead bug too :) [23:35] I bet [23:37] BUGabundo: yes? [23:38] I had a major crash since last upgrade. How do I report it? [23:38] just post /var/log/messages as one single bug? :-) [23:38] crimsun: typo. sorry, was meant fro chrisccoulson [23:38] alourie didn't apport fire up? [23:41] BUGabundo: well [23:41] Xorg crashed as a result in nvidia's segfault [23:41] and then [23:42] grub just got screwed so machine didn't boot [23:42] so no :-) [23:43] There are still udev errors when machine boots [23:43] and once in a while it requires manual fsck [23:45] so the only way I can see that apport would catch it, is if it runs before grub2 :-) [23:46] eheh [23:49] nah, I want to sleep now, will deal with filing bugs some other day [23:49] good night all
