Tonio_ryanakca: very fun :)00:05
Tonio_ryanakca: it's my last week here... back to normal life this we00:05
Riddelllwe have to lose 350MB from the size of our DVDs :(00:11
JontheEchidnadang00:18
JontheEchidnaOh, that reminds me00:18
JontheEchidnawe can lose 50 MB from both the livecd and dvd if we put debug symbols back in amarok-dbg00:19
* JontheEchidna commits the fix to bar00:19
JontheEchidna*bzr00:19
neversfeldeJontheEchidna: I am currently building an amarok package which has that fix in it00:20
JontheEchidnaneversfelde: ok, then I'll leave it to you :)00:20
JontheEchidnaRiddelll: could I get sponsorship for bug 432863?00:21
ubottuLaunchpad bug 432863 in phonon "New changes from Debian require merging (phonon 4.3.1-4)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/43286300:21
neversfeldemhh, amarok FTBFS with the taglib packages from Riddelll's ppa00:31
rgreeningRiddelll: what bumped the DVD by 350?00:35
JontheEchidnaAmarok bumped it by around 50. I don't know how the CDs are not overweight by now00:36
rgreeninglzma00:36
rgreening:P00:36
Riddelllneversfelde: really?  poke jefferai with the compiler error00:36
rgreeningdropping kde300:36
RiddelllJontheEchidna: CDs did grow lots in the last alpha, that would explain why00:36
RiddelllI had to remove stuff from amd6400:37
rgreeningheh00:37
RiddelllUDS sponsorship time, Kubuntu contributors should put their names forward00:39
neversfeldejefferai: ping00:39
macogood luck :)00:40
JontheEchidnaThe message indicator no longer changes icon when there are new indications :(00:40
macofor me the message indicator just always shows the "messages!" icon because there are always unread (but not *newly arrived*) emails in kmail00:41
JontheEchidnaI just get the plain envelope icon always00:42
neversfeldehere is the compiler error: http://pastebin.ca/157462100:42
neversfeldeI have to get some sleep, so I will have another look tomorrow00:43
neversfeldegn800:43
rgreeningworks here for me JontheEchidna00:44
RiddelllJontheEchidna: I'll look at that phonon merge tomorrow morning, poke me should I forget00:47
skreechCan we make kopete not use hte indicator in Karmic?00:49
skreechJust remove it from the panel and it will use normal notifications?00:49
JontheEchidnaas of alpha 6 kopete does not use it by default00:50
JontheEchidnainstallations from when it was default will have to disable it manually00:50
skreechI guess the general question is can we choose between notifications and indicators on an app basis?00:50
jefferaineversfelde: pong01:34
JontheEchidnajefferai: he went to bed. He wanted to show you this amarok build failure w/ latest taglib: http://pastebin.ca/157462101:35
jefferaiJontheEchidna: neversfelde: install the (just released) taglib-extras-1.0.101:38
jefferaifixes a symbol validity error01:38
jefferaieerr01:38
jefferaisymbol visibility error01:38
jefferaithis particular one, actually :-)01:54
skreechDid Palm ever respond to Amarok?02:16
* ScottK would like a laptop battery where #of times I can compile kde4libs >= 1.03:44
shtylmanhaha03:45
ScottKskreech: I think you can choose on a per app basis.03:45
ScottKI'm trying to backport some stuff from kdesvn to get a newer plasma-netbook and it touches both workspace and libs.03:46
ScottKIt's a pain.03:46
shtylmanI bet...03:46
shtylmanshould just cross compile on a desktop03:46
ScottKHow goes OOo, speaking of pain?03:47
ScottKWell the one desktop that's reasonably available still has Dapper on it.03:47
shtylmanoh boy... well, I submitting a set of patches to ccheney with some fixes for various bugs03:47
shtylmanbut the no text one still illudes me03:48
ScottKHow about the suffix appending?03:48
shtylmansuffix appending?03:48
shtylmanauto extension appending you mean?03:48
ScottKYeah03:48
shtylmanoh thats fixed03:48
shtylmanthat was in the patches I sent03:48
ScottKExcellent.03:48
ScottKMy daughter will be glad to hear that.03:49
shtylmanheh03:49
shtylmanI really want to work out this text bug03:49
skreechScottK: ok that would be great03:49
shtylmanim sure it has to do with some initialization problem/qt event loop nonsense03:49
ScottKI'd suggest asking agateau to look at it.03:50
shtylmandoes he sit in kde-devel?03:51
ScottKHe does sometimes, but he's also usually here.03:55
ScottKHe doesn't stay logged in overnight and is in France, so no suprise he's not here at the moment.03:55
shtylmangotcha...well im eastern time...and work during the day thus not on IRC03:56
shtylmanso maybe I will send him an emails03:56
shtylman(email03:56
davmor2Riddelll, ScottK: Having a mobile day today so KNE and UNR anything specific you'd like me to <del>Break</del> look at?09:42
Riddellldavmor2: any idea if oem-installer works on Kubuntu?10:26
davmor2I'll check I think there were some fixes go in10:30
happyaronhi, is kdebluetooth merge all pot files to a single one?11:13
Riddelllhappyaron: kdebluetooth has four pot files11:16
Riddellldesktop_playground-network.pot  kbluetooth4-devicemanager.pot  kbluetooth4.pot  kbluetooth4-wizard.pot11:16
happyaronRiddelll: but I could only find one in the latest tarball11:17
happyaronRiddelll: I want to confirm if we should change these four into one on launchpad11:18
Riddelllhmm, tonio uploaded the new kdebluetooth without a FFe11:19
happyaronRiddelll: well, what should I do to that pot file? drop new or merge old?11:20
Riddelllhappyaron: hang on I'll ask upstream11:22
Riddelllhappyaron: you are right, upstream changed it so kbluetooth4-devicemanager.pot  kbluetooth4.pot  kbluetooth4-wizard.pot are all now merged into kbluetooth.po11:29
Riddellldpm: ^^11:29
Riddelllnot sure what needs to be done to make that right in launchpad11:29
happyaronRiddelll: I think we might need to merge them, dpm11:29
=== m4v_ is now known as m4v
dpmhi happyaron, I would first double check if the strings from kbluetooth4-devicemanager.pot  kbluetooth4.pot  kbluetooth4-wizard.pot kbluetooth4-wizard.pot are indeed in the new kbluetooth.pot template. Then the kdebluetooth4-* templates should be disabled and the kdebluetooth one approved. But before doing anything, let me ask danilo what we should do to make sure we don't loose any of the translations of the old templates in LP12:14
happyarondpm: good, :)12:14
Riddelllneversfelde: new taglib-extras in ~jr PPA12:57
RiddelllTonio_: you uploaded kdebluetooth without a FFe?13:00
Riddelllshtylman: did slideshow get merged?13:00
Tonio_Riddelll: only bugfixes afaik this doesn't require a ffe13:08
Tonio_Riddelll: I asked here and was told it wasn't required13:09
Tonio_Riddelll: did anyone complain about that ?13:09
Tonio_Riddelll: I also mentionned this release was a bugfix only in the changelog13:13
RiddelllTonio_: the translation setup changed a lot13:30
RiddelllTonio_: although we did want the new version, it's not like kdebluetooth could get any worse :)13:30
Tonio_Riddelll: right, sorry for breaking the translations then :)13:31
Tonio_Riddelll: I'll have to commit a kds update to disable the obex server by default since I noticed yesterday it'll prompt for selecting the destination folder on a cd13:31
Tonio_Riddelll: or maybe use kconf_update and a python script to set the folder to the xdg download dir13:33
Tonio_Riddelll: any opinion on that point ?13:34
Tonio_maybe the second option is nicer...13:34
Tonio_Riddelll: we might want to enable the obex server by default I think13:34
RiddelllTonio_: sounds like kdebluetooth should be fixed to default to xdg instead of asking13:36
Tonio_so patch the source then ? can do13:37
Tonio_I'll do that then13:37
Riddelllor talk to upstream13:39
Riddelllafiestas is pretty responsive13:40
Tonio_Riddelll: oki13:40
happyaronRiddelll: do you know where kabc-sql has been changed to? or removed from package?14:05
happyaronRiddelll: I mean in kdelibs14:05
happyaronRiddelll: ah, got it14:07
happyaronit comes to a plugin14:07
davmor2Riddelll: oem is broken on yours and ubuntu's (ubuntu's slightly more spectacularly too be honest)14:07
neversfeldeRiddelll: I already tried to build amarok against taglib-extras 1.0.1 and it works. I will do a second build with the packages in your ppa. Should I push my packaging to bzr after that although taglib and taglib-extras are not in the archives yet?14:44
neversfeldejefferai: thank you for your help14:45
jefferaineversfelde: sure14:45
jefferaineversfelde: I guess I don't have -fvisibility=hidden here14:45
jefferai:-)14:45
neversfelde:)14:45
Riddelllneversfelde: yes please push to bzr14:48
Riddellljefferai: do you think you'll be able to do us a fix for the juk patch or should we just drop it?14:48
jefferaiI could probably do it -- if you'll link me to it  :-)14:51
Riddellljefferai: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~kubuntu-members/kdemultimedia/ubuntu/annotate/head:/debian/patches/kubuntu_06_juk_read_mp4.diff14:52
jefferaiRiddelll: I think I'll add this to juk trunk14:54
jefferaithe majority of the patch can be discarded14:54
Riddelllstill 90MB to remove from the DVD, maybe the amarok upload will sort that15:15
Riddelllwhat shall we call the team for people who can upload Kubuntu packages?15:16
Tm_TRiddelll: something else than karate-kids15:21
* Tm_T is just kidding with ninjas15:21
jefferaiRiddelll: hrm, trunk is now 4.4 isn't it15:25
Riddellljefferai: yes15:26
Riddelllalthough I doubt juk has changed much15:26
jefferaithere have been recent patches, actually15:27
jefferaiprobably the easiest thing to do, w.r.t. the patch, is for me to skip the check in CMakeLists (since I know that you're building with MP4 support) and just modify the patch itself15:28
jefferaierr, the main source code15:29
jefferaithoughts?15:29
Riddellljefferai: I agree15:31
jefferaiI'm even going to throw in a bonus for you15:32
Riddelllhow exciting, what's that?15:32
jefferaithe ability to read mp4 audiobooks15:38
jefferaianyways, I have a patch ready15:38
jefferaiuntested :-)15:38
jefferaihand-edited diff ranges15:38
jefferaishould be fun15:38
jefferaihttp://pastie.org/62595615:39
Riddelll3 out of 3 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file juk/mediafiles.cpp.rej15:41
Riddelllfooey15:41
jefferaiwhere's the source?15:41
jefferaistraight off 4.3 branch?15:42
jefferaior...?15:42
macogrrr i dont like whatever happened to plasma in the last week15:42
skreechtrunk?15:42
maconow when the dashboard is shown, there's no cashew to hide the dashboard. so i have to right click and go to appearance settings, because once i open appearance settings, then the windows can all come back15:42
Riddellljefferai: 4.3.115:44
Riddellljefferai: this is what applies http://muse.19inch.net/~jr/tmp/625956.txt15:44
jefferaiRiddelll: that's the paste I just sent you15:44
Riddellljefferai: except my one applies :)15:46
jefferaiLine numbers are the same15:47
jefferaimust have been copy+paste issue into the browser15:48
jefferaiwhitespace issue15:48
jefferaiwhat did you do?15:48
Riddelllyep15:48
Riddelllapplied it by hand and redid the diff15:48
jefferaiah15:48
* jefferai wishes diff wasn't so finicky about whitespace15:48
Riddellljefferai: well it compiles fine, the only .mp4 I have is a video and it won't open that15:59
jefferaiyah16:02
skreechcan't you make diff white space insensitive?16:07
skreechRiddelll: a word when you are done16:15
skreechWell two words :)16:19
Riddelllskreech: what's that?16:19
skreechRiddelll: Are we taking up the upstream distro art customization offer?16:20
Riddelllwe already use upstream distro art16:20
skreechKubuntu art?16:21
Riddelllwe did take up the upstream disto art offer for the new ubiquity artwork16:21
skreechok16:21
skreechWhat's the workflow with that?16:22
skreechWe say we would like to take you up on the offer16:22
skreechTHey help with the design? Then we implement?16:22
skreechWith review by them?16:22
skreechor would they work directly with creating the art and so on?16:23
Riddelllwe say "we'd like a bit of artwork for X" or "we'd like artwork Y done in Kubuntu colours" and they do it if they feel so inclined16:23
skreechAh Hmm ok16:23
skreech iwas trying to figure out if we needed to start recruiting a new art team16:24
skreechK Second question though this is less Koala and more for Lynx16:24
skreechhttp://gkiagia.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/installing-debug-symbol-packages-from-drkonqi/16:24
Riddelllnot really, our art needs are very modest because unlike other distros we use upstream artwork because it rocks16:24
skreechRemember that blog post?16:24
skreechSince we are using packagekit would it make more sense to simply borrow debian scripts or do something more integrated?16:25
Riddelllusing the debian setup would be easiest, but it would be better to use the more complete dbgsym archive for ubuntu16:27
skreechSo iguess that will be looked at once Koala is out?16:28
RiddelllI don't know what the status of it is upstream, if upstream is ready for distros to do something they should say so and point us at the docs for how16:30
skreechHmm OK I'll prod around and see where they are and see if an announcement is forthcoming16:30
Riddelllneversfelde: remember to push amarok packaging16:34
neversfeldeRiddelll: it is still buiding, but I can push if you need it now?16:37
neversfeldeshould be ok16:37
Tonio_Riddelll: a friend of mine wrote a krunner extension for opera16:41
Tonio_Riddelll: I think he can do the same for arora pretty easilly16:41
Tonio_Riddelll: isn't that too late for karmic ?16:41
Tonio_Riddelll: if an ffe can be approved in... let's say a week, I can ask him to do so16:41
skreechCan't it be added to universe?16:42
Tonio_skreech: bah I suspect the idea would be to have this in main since we ship with arora16:43
Tonio_maybe we can add this in the arora package directly16:43
Riddelllneversfelde: just whenever you're ready16:43
Tonio_it already has kde integration16:43
RiddelllArora isn't on the CD any more, and it doesn't have KDE integration16:44
RiddelllTonio_: what does the krunner do?16:44
Tonio_Riddelll: checks in your bookmarks like it does with konqueror16:44
skreechI thought we were shipping with Konqueror?16:44
Tonio_skreech: well right now yes, but that may and will probably change in the future16:45
Tonio_skreech: considering the netbook edition too btw16:45
skreechI recalled a kopete krunner plugin in erarly koala Cds is that still there?16:45
Tonio_skreech: was arora as default browser spec discarded to Lucid ?16:52
Tonio_skreech: I probably wasn't there when it was decided, but at the UDS, the choice was made afair16:52
skreechKonqueror is the new default.16:53
nixternalgood morning Kubuntu!!!16:54
RiddelllTonio_: we had a Kubuntu meeting a month or so ago and the vote was to go with Konqueror for Karmic.  I disagree with it16:54
Riddelllwhy it's nixternal16:54
nixternalget um!16:54
nixternaloh wait, that's me16:54
Tonio_Riddelll: I completly disagree too, but well I should have been there16:54
Tonio_Riddelll: especially since next version of arora has adblock and password storage16:54
Tonio_nixternal: what's against arora ? :)16:55
Tonio_konqueror just won't work with our users websites...16:55
Tonio_imho that's the main point with it16:55
Tonio_arora is still young, but at least browses correctly16:55
nixternalarora seems slow on loading web pages to me...konqueror is faster but does have issues with some sites...a lot of our users will install firefox anyways16:56
* skreech still thinks we should have a kubuntu-proper package16:57
skreechthat just installs all the stuff we would like to have on the cd16:57
skreechWallapapers themes plasmoids etc16:57
skreechArora could be attached to that16:57
skreechArora just freaking bugs out on sites for me16:57
skreechI only use it for Gmail and even there it doesn't act like I expect16:58
skreechWe ship the firefox installer for Koala16:58
Riddelllshtylman: I just e-mailed you, check your spam folder, gmail doesn't like my mail server17:01
Tonio_nixternal: well konqueror simply ignores most of the javascript... sure that's fast, but imho bad17:03
nixternaltrue17:03
skreechKonqueror is apparently very bad at javascript17:04
Tonio_nixternal: when arora 0.9.1 is released with adblock support and password storage, I think we should eventually rediscuss this karmic default web browser17:14
Tonio_really no decent web browser isn't acceptable nowadays...17:14
nixternal2 features I do not use :)17:14
Tonio_I hope it's not too late for this17:14
Riddelllit's beta freeze in two days17:18
Riddelllthat's pretty late17:18
Riddelllwe still have to decide on default IRC client17:18
skreechTonio_: what is the definition of a decent web browser17:19
Riddelllone that can read slashdot17:19
Riddellloh wait, that's just me17:19
skreechDropping any referenecs to what's on the market. Just a list17:19
smarterRiddelll: reddit/hackernews are the new slashdot ;)17:19
skreechJS would be high on that list I think17:20
Tonio_skreech: one that can browse gmail, facebook, twitter, without bugs ?17:20
Tonio_skreech: one that feets our users needs ?17:21
skreechTonio_: I don't think I know any browser that does that :)17:21
Tonio_skreech: I don't think I know any browser that does that worse than konqueror :)17:21
skreechw3m :-(17:21
Tonio_right17:21
skreechit won't even display gmail anymore17:21
smarterlet's just put Internet Explorer by default and be done :P17:22
Tonio_but technically, konqueror is what it is and is not gonna change17:22
skreechjust started doing it since the start of this year17:22
Tonio_arora is super maintained, upstream wants it to work17:22
Tonio_that's the main difference17:22
Riddelllw3m can read slashdot17:22
skreechNo I agree that we need a web dolphin17:22
skreechSo can konqueror I think17:22
Tonio_skreech: it could be rekonq to, whatever17:22
Tonio_but something that uses a "de facto standard" engine, like webkit17:23
Tonio_khtml is deprecated... I'd love konqueror to work with webkit, but that's not gonna happen, really17:23
Tonio_otherwise it would work right now17:23
skreechat least the times I cahrekonq can't read gmail17:25
skreechbah17:25
Tonio_skreech: and the main problem is that it's going to be worse and worse, since most websites are evolving to ajax and break in konq when they worked 2 years ago17:25
Tonio_skreech: arora does17:25
skreech At least the times I've checked slashdot Konqueror can read it17:25
skreech Rekonq can't read Gmail17:25
skreech My biggest strike against it so far17:25
Tonio_so what's the problem with arora ? :)17:25
nixternaldropshadows on planet.ubuntu.com look horrible? :)17:26
skreechYeah that's mostly what I use Arora for17:26
skreechArora doesn't work with any other site I go to normally17:26
skreechEither it won't load aor it's a fully vertical layout17:26
skreechBetween Konqueror and Arora I only open Firefox if need an extension17:27
Tonio_skreech: not any website ?17:27
* Tonio_ is curious... what are those websites ?17:27
Riddelllgoogle calendar, revu17:27
skreechAnd Arora has a pretty large memory footprint17:28
Tonio_google calendat works with me17:28
skreech too large a ratio of nonworking sites to Ram usage for me to jsut keep it open17:28
Tonio_Riddelll: is that supposed not to work ?17:28
Riddellldoesn't work for me, gets stuck at the login17:29
Tonio_Riddelll: hum weird...17:29
Tonio_lemme check17:29
neversfeldeRiddelll: it is in bzr17:30
Riddelllneversfelde: and it all compiles and runs?17:31
Tonio_Riddelll: no pb with google calendar here.... weird...17:31
Tonio_Riddelll: a cookie cache problem on your side maybe ? or you just didn't test with 0.9 ?17:31
RiddelllTonio_: you're right, it works today17:34
neversfeldeRiddelll: it compiles with the packages in your ppa and at least music plays and tagging seems to work :)17:40
Riddelllneversfelde: does it make my tea too?17:41
neversfeldeI think you would have to add a dependency on kteatime^^17:42
nixternalwhat is the trick for setting up printers connected to a windows/samba machine? in gnome it just works, but I have yet to get it to 'just work' in Kubuntu yet17:49
smarternixternal: systemsettings ->printy thingy -> settings -> check the box related to allow use of network printers -> wait a few seconds/minutes -> magic!17:50
nixternalsmarter: i have waited a few minutes17:51
nixternalbut not with the window open :)  /me tries17:51
smartertried to do it manually with the "new network printer" button?17:51
nixternalya, but trying to figure all of the information I need is a pita17:52
Riddelllyuriy: rumour has it that apport-kde is broken and you have patches, is this true?18:04
yuriyRiddelll: partial fix, pitti said he'll include it in the next upload18:05
yuriyRiddelll: bug 405378, bug 40336118:05
ubottuLaunchpad bug 405378 in apport "[karmic] in KDE apport does not open the browser to report a bug" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/40537818:05
ubottuLaunchpad bug 403361 in python-qt4 "apport-kde crashed with SIGSEGV in QWidgetPrivate::deleteExtra()" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/40336118:05
yuriyRiddelll: any ideas on the latter?18:10
Riddellldidn't we think the new sip and pyqt4 would fix that?18:11
yuriymaybe, i haven't had a chance to update and check18:11
Riddelllyuriy: there's nothing attached to bug 405378, where is the fix?18:29
ubottuLaunchpad bug 405378 in apport "[karmic] in KDE apport does not open the browser to report a bug" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/40537818:29
ubuntuScottK: you around dude?18:36
=== ubuntu is now known as davmor3
ScottKYes.18:36
davmor3ScottK: I'm looking at KNE and I'm looking at Internet.  I just showed it to my wife for confirmation and it's not obvious unless you use KDE which is the actual browser18:38
ScottKdavmor3: I agree the internet section is a bit of a confusing mess.  Given the rudimentary nature of the app picker at this point, I don't think we can do anything about it.18:39
davmor3ScottK: is ther no way to put the apps first and the settings after, if that makes sense?18:40
ScottKNot really.18:40
davmor3:( shame18:41
ScottKYes.  I know it will be better in KDE 4.4.  What we have now is very basic.18:41
davmor3ScottK: if I put a bug about it can you wishlist it?18:41
ScottKI can.18:42
davmor3np's18:42
yuriyRiddelll: there is a diff attached18:48
Tonio_Riddelll: tellico was juste released as a stable kde4 app18:51
Tonio_Riddelll: we currently have a kde3 version...18:51
Tonio_Riddelll: I think this should go with an FFE, right ?18:51
ScottKI'd say yes.18:52
Riddelllif there's no regressions18:52
Tonio_Riddelll: hard to say so...18:53

Nightrosemeh21:56
_Groo_Nightrose: hi Nightrose22:00
_Groo_Nightrose: are you guys planning to add replaygain to xine-backend or inside amarok for xine-backend? right now i have equalizer for xine but no replagain, and replaygain for gstreamer but no  equalizer, lol22:01
Tonio__neversfelde: amarok won't install here... the issue is weird... have an explanation to this : http://pastebin.ca/157572222:01
Tonio__I must say I don't understand...22:01
=== Tonio__ is now known as Tonio_
Nightrose_Groo_: no idea what the plans are for that sorry22:02
Tonio_any other person that has an idea is free to help :)22:03
Tonio_hum right, that's due to latest taglib... let's wait for amarok then...22:14
neversfeldeTonio_: it needs taglib 1.6, I build it with the packages from Riddelll's ppa22:22
macochoosing suspend from the battery applet locks screen instead of suspending. boo.22:27
* claydoh is facing the worlds longest fsck :( on his backup device no less22:35
Tonio_neversfelde: yup seen that22:35
neversfeldeTonio_: do you have new syncmal packages for Akonadi?22:42
neversfelde-a22:42
Tonio_neversfelde: nope, still no commits on the svn...22:54
Tonio_neversfelde: unless there is another source I don't know of :)22:54
neversfeldeTonio_: I read a blog post about it, it is from beginning of August, but I am not sure, if I asked you before about it22:55
Tonio_neversfelde: I did too, basically it works as a syncml server23:10
Tonio_neversfelde: the client part if broken23:10
Tonio_neversfelde: you can test from my ppa23:10
shtylmanyuriy: goodie...I love 3rd party OO bugs! /sarcasm :)23:34

neversfeldenow it is there, but I cannot use it23:41
JontheEchindaonly MOTUs and Bugsquad members have won't fix permissions23:42
neversfeldeah ok23:43
Riddelllsometimes it would be nice if launchpad was more transparent about permissions like that23:43
neversfeldeyes, what are the requirements to join bugsquad?23:44
shtylmanRiddelll: no...we have been back and forth about that damn slideshow and how to merge it...23:44
Riddelllshtylman: what's the issue?23:45
shtylmanbasically being indecisive about how to have the two code bases co-exist23:46
shtylmanI will poke dylan and evan again tonight23:46
JontheEchindaneversfelde: actually, it's the bugcontrol team, not the bugsquad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl23:47

neversfeldeUbuntu is sometimes confusing23:48
* a|wen got motu faster than his application for bug control was approved...23:48
neversfeldeI guess I need a MOTU Mentor, I would like to work together with an experienced ninja. Any volunteers? :)23:50
a|wenhow do you know which mime-type a certain type of files will appear as? any way to find possible mimetypes?23:50
neversfeldeI am not a totally beginner anymore, so the job should be not so difficult, I hope23:50
macoa|wen: type "file foo.txt"23:51
a|wenwell, basically i can't find any file of that type to test against :)23:51
macooh. download one?23:51
a|wenanyone has a .bin cd image laying around23:51
macoi know haskell files are misidentified as java files due to starting with "import"23:52
a|wenneversfelde: iirc your packaging is becoming pretty good :)23:52
neversfeldea|wen: so you are the volunteer? :)23:55
ScottKneversfelde: I'm glad to answer questions as you have them, but am not up to committing to being a dedicated mentor.23:56

neversfeldeScottK: thanks, I would like to apply for MOTU, but I am not in a hurry with that. I guess I need some hints about that process in the future.23:58
ScottKshtylman: OK.  So it's not just me.23:58
shtylmanno...I do find that strange...23:59
ScottKneversfelde: OK.  My experience is that when you are ready, people will tell you.23:59
