zookoI would like to rename the project page in launchpad from03:42
zookoallmydata-tahoe to tahoe-lafs.03:42
zookoIdeally a vestigial "forwarding" page would be left at allmydata-tahoe pointing to tahoe-lafs for a while (a few years?).03:42
zookoHow do I do such a thing?03:42
lifelessmwhudson: ^03:49
spmzooko: create a request here: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad ping me back with the ##, I'll verify that's you doing the asking and make it so. we can create aliases, not forwarding pages; but the result is essentially the same.03:54
zookospm: thanks!03:57
zookoThat's a weird URL: Preparing to replace knode 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu1 (using .../knode_4%3a4.3.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb) ...04:25
zookoUnpacking replacement knode ...04:25
zookodpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/knode_4%3a4.3.1-0ubuntu5_amd64.deb (--unpack):04:25
zooko trying to overwrite `/usr/lib/kde4/kontact_knodeplugin.so', which is also in package kontact04:25
zookoWhoa, sorry about that.04:25
zookoLet me try again.  That's a weird URL: https://launchpad.net/karmic04:25
zookospm: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/8406504:26
spivspm: also, <zooko> Let me try again.  That's a weird URL: https://launchpad.net/karmic04:26
spivzooko: yeah, I guess we should add the ubuntu code names to the blacklist...04:27
zookoDear launchpad folks: I want to report a bug.  apport won't work for me at the moment.  I go to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+bugs and there is a button labelled "report a bug".04:27
zookoBut when I click it, I don't get to report a bug right there on the web site.  I get instructions on how to use Ubuntu tools like apport to report a bug.04:27
lifelessspiv: they should be anyway, as pillars, no ?04:27
zookoI can't find the way to report a bug directly through the launchpad site.04:28
lifelesszooko: thats a thing the #ubuntu-bugs folk wanted04:28
zookoHowdy, spiv.04:28
spivzooko: hey :)04:28
lifelessits not universally supported by said developers04:28
lifelessthere is a link on that wiki page that says 'if you really really want to you can ...'04:28
zookolifeless: oh thanks, I was looking for something like that but didn't see it.04:28
zookoI guess it's late and I'm getting tired and impatient.04:28
lifelesszooko: personally I think its terrible, and other core devs also think that :)04:29
zookoActually, I still don't see it.04:29
zookoWhere's the "if you really want to" part?04:29
lifelesswhats the wiki page you ended up on04:29
lifelessnvm I'll clicky clicky through04:30
spmzooko: ref the project rename, did you mean rename https://edge.launchpad.net/allmydata.org ? as https://edge.launchpad.net/allmydata-tahoe doesn't exist.04:30
lifelesszooko: actually, for me, I get a lp form04:31
lifelesszooko: can you try04:32
lifelesshttps://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug04:32
lifelesszooko: otherwise, on the wiki page 'To file a bug against a specific package use a url similar to the following' is the leadup text to the link (which needs editing)04:32
zookospm: yes I did.04:33
spivlifeless: for me, that url (and ubuntu/karmic/+filebug) redirect to the ReportingBugs page on the wiki.04:34
lifelessspiv: immediately?04:35
spivlifeless: yes.04:35
lifelesswow04:35
zooko:-(04:35
lifelessmust be looking at groups now, and I'm in motu so a member of bugcontrol04:35
spmzooko: all done: https://edge.launchpad.net/tahoe-lafs04:35
zookospm: thanks!04:35
spivlifeless: yeah, that's my guess.04:35
lifelesszooko: and on that page, search for "To file a bug against a specific package use a url similar to the following"04:43
wgrantlifeless, spiv: Right. Keybuk screamed, so the Ubuntu bug supervisor is now excluded from the redirect.04:53
lifelesswgrant: keybuk wasn't the only one :)04:55
wgrantlifeless: Right, but he was the one that filed an allcaps bug report.04:55
zookoHee hee.04:55
ScottKMy impression is that the change is roughly as popular among users.04:56
zookoFor what it is worth, I don't mind when someone says "Please do it THIS way.  We like THIS way is GREAT.  Also, you can do it THAT way.".04:57
zookoHowever, I rather mind when the THAT involves building a URL and figuring out the source package without benefit of the source-package-search-engine that the previous version of launchpad had.04:57
zookoSo, yeah, this one user says "This could be improved".04:58
zookoSo, yeah, I give up on reporting these packaging issues in kdepim.  Got too many more important things to do now.04:58
ScottKzooko: Feedback for that change is best in #ubuntu-bugs as they are the ones that asked for it.04:59
lifelesszooko: you'll find everyone in the world except the bug triagers agrees with you.04:59
wgrantI'm sure that even many of the bug triagers agree.04:59
lifelessits a terrible thing to write software and have people not use it05:00
zookoOkay, I've said my piece on #ubuntu-bugs.05:00
ScottKOTOH, a fair fraction of them seem interested in little other than reducing the count of open bugs.  Reducing new bugs filed, helps.05:00
lifelessI'd say 'file a bug on this'05:00
lifelessbut that would be a terrible irony05:00
DBOIm not entirely sure I am doing things right. How long after using dput should it take my package to show up in launchpad?08:04
wgrantDBO: < 5 minutes.08:09
wgrantDBO: Anything longer means that you didn't sign the package properly.08:09
DBOok then i musta done gone screwed up08:09
DBOwgrant, hehehe, whats it mean to "sign" a package?08:09
wgrantSorry, anything longer *without a rejection email* means you didn't sign it properly.08:09
DBOi code monkey, not good with package monkey08:10
wgrantDBO: Check the .changes file for a signature.08:10
DBOmmmm08:10
DBOokay I'll just assume I did this wrong08:11
DBOwgrant, can you tell me 1) where I get a signing key?08:12
DBO2) where I apply said signing key08:12
wgrantDBO: Do you have an OpenPGP key with a UID that matches precisely (including any comment) your name and email address in the changelog?08:12
DBOi didn't even add a changelog entry08:12
DBOis there a proper way to do that?08:13
DBOand no I dont have an OpenPGP key08:13
wgrantYes. But you want to read the packaging guide and https://help.launchpad.net/Packaging/PPA.08:13
DBOno, i dont *want* to but I have a feeling I have to08:13
DBOi *want* to submit a patch and have a package made08:14
DBO:)08:14
DBOsorry, packaging always brings out the worst in me08:14
mwhudsonDBO: it's not that bad once you get set up08:18
mwhudsondch -i, debuild -S, dput08:18

abbHi, I'm trying to convert a Bug report (Bug #433515) into a question, but each time I attempt this, I get a "Timeout Error, Sorry, something just went wrong in Launchpad" error (OOPS-1367EC560).  Is there a known problem with LP today?  If not, could someone kindly take a look at the aforementioned bug and tell me what I'm doing wrong?13:23

Fly-Man-Is anyone monitoring the import queue for the translations ?15:19
DBOFly-Man-, it may be that those are broken too right now15:21
Fly-Man-Because I have an import that could use a bump15:21
Fly-Man-Hmm, broken in what way ?15:22
DBOwell at least code updates are stuck in limbo for me right now15:22
Fly-Man-Hmm, that doesn't sound too good15:27

henningeFly-Man-: what should this template be called? gforge/debian/dsf-po/templates.pot15:45

Fly-Man-Good Q15:46
Fly-Man-I have no clue where they're from15:46
Fly-Man-as I did the import from bzr15:46
Fly-Man-and these came up as well15:46
henningeFly-Man-: phpwiki sounds like it's an external program, too.15:47
Fly-Man-it's an plugin15:47
henningeFly-Man-: so are you just interested in gforge.pot?15:47
Fly-Man-Yeah15:47
Fly-Man-the ones in the translations folder15:47
henningeFly-Man-: the fourth is from a directory with "test" in its path, I guess you don't need that either.15:47
Fly-Man-gforge/translations/*.po and the pot file15:47
Fly-Man-Nope15:48
Fly-Man-I just need the ones that are in translations15:48
henningeFly-Man-: ok, I'll block three and approve one.15:48
Fly-Man-gforge/translations15:48
Fly-Man-Later we can add series of plugins, etc, right ?15:49
Fly-Man-FusionForge Plugins15:49
Fly-Man-with the plugins inside, then the languages15:49
henningeFly-Man-: you can add more templates later, just make sure your directory layout makes it clear which translations belong to which template.15:50
Fly-Man-Okay15:51
henningeFly-Man-: read the documentation on that ... ;-)15:51
Fly-Man-henninge: I will :)15:51
Fly-Man-Let's start with the translations bits first15:51
Fly-Man-then later we can add the plugins, etc15:51
henningeFly-Man-: I approved the template. The other three I set to blocked.15:51
Fly-Man-k15:52
Fly-Man-and the translations itself15:52
henningeFly-Man-: please delete the po files from the queue that you do not want.15:52
Fly-Man-those will go automatic ?15:52
henningeFly-Man-: yes15:52
Fly-Man-K15:53
Fly-Man-Then it's settled now15:54
Fly-Man-I changed the other ones to deleted15:54
Fly-Man-so it'll import the translations15:54
Fly-Man-And later this day will do an export of the translations part to the bzr branch I made15:55
Fly-Man-correct ?15:55

MvGHi! I've got the feeling that after pushing a rather small branch, https://code.launchpad.net/~gagern/bzr-cvsps-import/lp437295 is showing the message "Updating branch..." for what seems like an excessively long time, i.e. half an hour or so. The "Recent revisions" section claims that the branch had not been pushed to yet. What's happening here? Server overloaded, or did my push perhaps go wrong in some way?16:24

pedahzurOK, this is annoying: I'm either missing something obvious, or something is broken.  I cannot find *any* submit bug link on launchpad.  Go here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ nothing, search bugs, no results, but no "submit bug" button either. What am I missing?23:09
jpdspedahzur: You have to select which project you want to report the bug against.23:11
jpdspedahzur: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/bugtrackers for example, has a list.23:11
jpdspedahzur: For a bug in Ubuntu, you would go to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu and click: "Report a bug →".23:12
pedahzurjpds: OK, how do I select the project? Sorry, this is really basic, I've used launchpad quite a bit before, but it was more straight forward.  "Submit bug" used to walk you through the process, if I remember correctly. Or getting to the Ubuntu screen was easier, or something.  Thanks for the pointers...hopefully I can figure it out from here. :)23:13
bcurtiswxis launchpad and the ubuntu keyserver related in any way?23:14

jpdspedahzur: On the page you linked to click the "One project:" button, and type the project name23:15

pedahzurjpds: Right, thanks.  I still tend to think launchpad==ubuntu, so when it says project, I think package.  I'm on my way now. Thanks!23:16
pedahzurjpds: One more question: is there any way to add more than one attachment in a bug report?23:25
