davmor2cr3: morning dude14:22
cr3davmor2: yo mama14:24
davmor2cr3: that's a scary thought if every I had one, being your momma ;)14:25
cr3davmor2: that could explain a lot though14:27
=== fader|away is now known as fader_
pedro_hah hey folks14:28
davmor2hello pedro_14:28
fader_davmor2: What's the bad news?14:28
davmor2fader_: yes wubi still broke, oem should be fixed, side by side works,  the biggest bad news means you've got more tests to run ;)14:31
fader_davmor2: I guess you keep me off the streets and out of trouble14:32
fader_;)14:32
davmor2I thought the chains and straight jacket did that :P14:33
davmor2right ubuntu back up to date I'm starting on alternate I think14:36
fader_davmor2: I've got some reports to run and then I'll start testing images, assuming you leave any for anyone else :)14:38
davmor2fader_: these are only dummies to play with they will be respun for wubi if nothing else :)14:39
davmor2fader_: You know me full of good news :)14:39
fader_Heh14:39
fader_You just want them all for yourself14:40
davmor2no, no I'm not a hog help yourself ;)14:40
aradavmor2, is alt going to be respun as well? I thought it was not14:53
davmor2ara: alt has been respun .214:53
davmor2ara: in saying that though it doesn't mean it won't get respun.  Depends on the blockers14:54
aradavmor2, yes, that's what I meant. That there is not going (hopefully) to be a .314:54
arait might or it might not14:55
ara.2 can be beta14:55
* ara takes alt i386 full disk14:55
davmor2ara: probably be a whole new image to start again with tomorrow14:55
aradavmor2, as usual :D14:55
davmor2ara: already running it14:55
davmor2along with 64bit14:55
aradavmor2, ok, then I'll go with auto-resize14:56
* ara takes i386 alt auto-resize14:56
=== rmcbride_ is now known as rmcbride
davmor2ara: on your next run can you check something for me please open empathy, close the account window, hit edit accounts and create an irc channel account, wait for nickserve to appear in the indicator applet and then click on it.  read it close the window and see if the nickserve message stays in the indicator applet.   Only seems to effect first run15:36
davmor2if you click it again empathy should just crash out15:36
aradavmor2, confirmed, that happens to me in my karmic installation15:36
aradavmor2, for jabber messages as well15:37
aradavmor2, don't know how to reproduce it consistently, though15:37
davmor2bug 43865615:37
ubot4`davmor2: Bug 438656 on http://launchpad.net/bugs/438656 is private15:37
davmor2un privates it15:38
arais an ubuntu bug? or some other project?15:38
davmor2I think it is to do with the behaviour within the indicator applet it never crashed out on me before15:39
aradavmor2, indeed it is related with the indicator-applet call back15:44
* davmor2 takes encrypt lvm on 32 and 64 ubuntu15:57
* ara takes alternate i386 expert mode16:03
fader_davmor2: What's the scoop on mythbuntu?  Is it going to be respun soon?16:04
davmor2pass16:05
davmor2no I think .2 is safe for today at the moment at least16:06
fader_Woohoo16:10
davmor2fader_: notice the uses of the word moment ;)16:11
fader_Shhh, leave me my beautiful illusions.16:11
davmor2fader_: shouldn't there be a d in front of that last word16:13
fader_Probably.16:16
* davmor2 takes rescue and freedesktop on alt ubuntu16:37
davmor2oh and makes a start on kub alt16:37
pvullohi ! to test the (futur) Karmic beta, I just have to replace Jaunty by Karmic in my sources.list ? Or I have to do something else ?16:42
davmor2pvullo: just run update-manager -d iirc16:43
pvullowithout modifying the sources.list !?16:43
pvullook, then16:43
pvullo.16:43
davmor2pvullo: yes it does all that for you16:44
fader_pvullo: "update-manager -d" will do the updating for you16:44
pvullogreat16:44
pvullothks16:44
davmor2fader_: I had to think then haven't done an upgrade in a why :)16:44
davmor2while even16:44
* fader_ imagines that davmor2 is probably still running warty.16:45
davmor2fader_: I think I still have the cd knocking about16:45
davmor2fader_: I tend to do fresh installs and blow out all the cobwebs16:46
fader_davmor2: Yeah, I'm eagerly awaiting karmic to go gold so I can do the same16:47
davmor2ditto I'm liking the new look :)16:49
fader_Indeed16:50
davmor2fader_: I find the amount of things you don't install goes down each release :)17:00
fader_Eh?  What do you mean?17:01
davmor2fader_: I don't make a log of what I install.  So if I don't install in the new version I don't waste the hd space installing it.  not had vbox installed for a while casue of using kvm etc17:02
fader_Ahh, gotcha17:03
fader_The new default Myth theme is really nice17:05
fader_Anybody seen any problems with ubiquity not starting in 'install foobuntu' mode?17:27
fader_The live environment worked fine but 'Install Mythbuntu' doesn't seem to start Ubiquity :(17:27
fader_Maybe it's just slow... good excuse to go make some tea.17:28
fader_bug 438816 if anyone else sees something similar17:43
ubot4`Launchpad bug 438816 in mythbuntu "Ubiquity doesn't start in 'Install Mythbuntu' mode on latest build" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/43881617:43
davmor2fader_: maybe your slow and it's finished and your looking at the installed system ;)17:49
fader_davmor2: If that's the case, the bug is that there's no window manager installed ;)17:49
davmor2that sounds believable why do you need a windows manager it plugs into the tele right17:50
fader_Because I like my movies full-screened ;)17:52
=== cking_ is now known as cking
* davmor2 takes oems18:09
sbeattiedavmor2: does jockey work correctly for you?19:09
davmor2sbeattie: on nvidia on ati yes why?19:09
sbeattiedavmor2: okay, just seeing an odd behavior here, where I told it disable fglrx, and the atuhenticate window stayed open after I'd entered my password, blocking jockey from actually doing anything.19:10
davmor2sbeattie: ah not tried disabling to be honest two ticks19:11
sbeattiebut I'm seeing lots of odd behavior with this hardware, and I'm running my session in vnc, so there's a couple of elements that may be unique to my situation.19:12
davmor2sbeattie: ah that could be the issue then.  When pitti was fixing an issue with ati not installing he was unable to run jockey using ssh I had to run it locally and then he would pick up the reports19:13
davmor2oem worked for the first time this release Yay for cjwatson :)19:14
sbeattiedavmor2: also, if you boot into rescue mode, are you then able to fsck the root filesystem?19:17
davmor2sbeattie:  I can but I don't access the root drive when I do that because that mounts the drive your trying to fsck and it causes issue.  or has for me every time I've run it that way19:20
sbeattiedavmor2: hrm, the option worked in jaunty19:20
davmor2I'll give it a go and see19:21
davmor2sbeattie: jockey removes as easily as it installs19:22
davmor2sbeattie: ah I know why it wasn't that it didn't work fsck threw up the warning running e2fsck on a mount fs may cause severe fs damage19:28
davmor2but that runs fine after that19:28
davmor2sbeattie: so jockey removes fine and fsck works too19:30
sbeattiedavmor2: cool, thanks.19:34
davmor2np's19:35
* davmor2 moves onto Kubuntu alts19:37
bdmurraydavmor2: I just did encrypted lvm i38620:16
bdmurraywell, am doing and need to report it20:16
davmor2bdmurray: is that on ubuntu or kubuntu?20:16
bdmurraykubuntu alternate i38620:17
davmor2thanks I'll skip it for now then :)20:18
davmor2fader_: did you let the RT know about the install bug you had that is fairly major?20:38
fader_davmor2: Are you referring to bug 438816?20:40
ubot4`Launchpad bug 438816 in ubiquity "Ubiquity doesn't start in 'Install Mythbuntu' mode on latest build" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/43881620:40
davmor2fader_: hang on it's not that it does start then it just goes to desktop instead20:40
fader_davmor2: Right20:40
fader_It goes to the desktop with no wm (but it does have an application menu, the icon to launch the installer, etc.)20:41
davmor2like bug from alpha 6 then ;)20:41
fader_It didn't seem super-critical to me... something that could be release noted20:41
fader_Though obviously I'm not the final arbiter of that :)20:41
davmor2oh that is slightly different then :)20:41
slangaseknew ubuntu desktop ISOs up for testing21:02
slangasekand kubuntu21:06
slangasekfader_: and I think bug #438816 is already fixed \o/21:09
ubot4`Launchpad bug 438816 in ubiquity "Ubiquity doesn't start in 'Install Mythbuntu' mode on latest build" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/43881621:09
fader_slangasek: w00t!21:09
fader_slangasek: Are you planning a respin of mythbuntu?21:10
slangasekfader_: already scheduled21:10
slangasek(it's right behind xubuntu in the queue)21:10
fader_Heh, I *just* finished the i386 image ;)21:10
davmor2fader_: I did say at the MOMENT!!!!!! moment being the operative word :D21:12
fader_davmor2: Meh, I blame you anyway :)21:12
davmor2fader_: hey no fair blame is cr3's job21:13
fader_So 20090929.2 is the most up-to-date on ubuntu desktop now, right?21:14
* fader_ starts a download and steps away for ~10 minutes.21:14
davmor2fader_: does it say 0/8 on the tracker if so then yes :)21:15
fader_davmor2: It doesn't  -- that's why I asked21:15
fader_http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/result/3103/421:15
fader_My guess is that's a result from the previous spin that just had bad timing, but I'm not sure21:15
davmor2fader_: Meh what?21:17
davmor2fixed loop killed the entire system I can't see that happening some how21:18
* davmor2 installing vista for wubi test (please god work) burning ubuntu i386 installing encrypted lvm on kub 64 and oem on kub 32bit21:28
fader_davmor2: You've got to be an expert at installing Vista by now :)21:30
davmor2fader_: it's the wubi test that I want to work :P21:30
davmor2fader_:  I am an expert at vista installs that's why I've start on the complex install that this thing called ooboontoo uses21:31
davmor2bit of a challenge I thought21:32
fader_Heh, it's funny because on the rare occasions that I want to put Windows on a machine, I spend a half day just trying to find drivers and such and swearing about how painful the install is :)21:33
davmor2really I don't have that issue at all honest gov'nor21:33
slangasekfader_: mythbuntu posted22:04
fader_slangasek: Thanks, I'll grab those next.  I'm trying to reproduce lemmyg's bugs on desktop amd6422:05
fader_(So far no luck there -- it's working for me)22:05
slangasekfader_: is lemmyg on IRC?  and what's that hash included in his comments?22:12
fader_slangasek: He doesn't appear to be that I can find... and I have no idea.22:13
slangasekbad burn, maybe, since that hash isn't anything from our *SUMS files22:13
fader_Maybe the Md5 of the image he's using?22:13
fader_Yeah, I checked and couldn't find it there :/22:13
fader_I'll go comment on his bug that I can't reproduce it and ask him to check his image22:13
fader_Oh wait, he didn't file one... heh22:14
fader_slangasek: I'll chuck him an email and ask him to check his image, file bugs in LP when he finds them :) and to consider joining this channel22:16
davmor2Yay we're so popular now that the tracker's getting spam22:16
fader_:P22:22
fader_Assuming it's the same lemmyg on launchpad, he's filed bugs before, so maybe he just forgot or didn't have time22:22
fader_Maybe we can get him to join us here in the zoo :)22:23
davmor2 Freak show from independence day (aka the vault)22:23
fader_I don't know what lemmyg was testing but I can't reproduce it :/22:54
fader_Though IMO that's good news :)22:54
davmor2Yay23:01
