Shadow__Xsuperm1: do you solve cups problems as well?02:38
tgm4883Shadow__X, I thinkk he is more of a mug man02:42
Shadow__Xah gotcha02:43
johannes_hi, where can I find more informations about the diskless server?04:26
foxbuntujohannes_, other than the forums, laga is the guy, but he is busy right now and not likely to respond, you can try him later if you can't find what you need in the forums/googling05:04
johannes_found something interesting: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-initrd.html Ill ask later, if I dont get along thanks05:05
purefusionanyone know what line I should use as the grub kernel line for mythbuntu installer on a usb drive?05:29
purefusionthe usb drive by itself doesn't seem to boot up on its own (override the hdd) despite BIOS settings in favor of the USB boot priority05:30
mishehuwell this is funny05:41
mishehuI'm setting up my box, and I find that when I'm setting up the weather information and stuff, whatever the weather source is has put all of Israel as a part of the United Kingdom05:41
mishehuI think somebody's about 60 some years behind the times...05:41
mishehupurefusion: I've never used grub for that.  the last time I made a custom usb boot of anything, I used syslinux for that05:42
mishehu(not saying you should, it's probably just as easy to do it with grub)05:42
purefusionright, well using syslinux... is that done right on the usb stick itself?05:43
mishehuyeah, I used the extboot or whatever it's called.05:43
mishehuextlinux, can't remember at the moment (the machine that I did that work on is offline at the moment)05:44
mishehubut that I made a custom openvpn firewall/router for a via epia mini itx with an sd card or usb flash drive using extlinux.05:45
mishehuit wasn't mythbuntu05:45
purefusiongotcha05:46
mishehuthat's why I said, it might be a viable option, but just keep in mind that it might not be the most optimal for mythbuntu.05:47
purefusionright on05:48
purefusionwell, if I can get this kernel line resolved I think I would have it settled05:48
mishehuand I'm guessing the other folks here crashed for the night already05:57
purefusionis anyone sharing 9.10a6 via torrent?05:58
mishehuI don't know how well those get seeded.06:00
mishehuI had a better time the other night grabbing it direct from the web site.06:00
johannes_I have an idea about diskless booting but before I get into it, Id like you to tell me if it is possible at all, I have drawn, what I want to do: http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/5978/ramdiskboot.png06:42
purefusioncan xfce be replaced with gnome's UI?11:02
CyberKnetsuperm1: as far as I can tell, I disabled vbi (set vbi type to none in the general section of mythtv-setup) and unfortunately the flickering problem with the PVR-500 video remains. I'll try and get a short capture that shows the problem some time. With video issues it's always so hard to give the 'correct' term for what a visual or audio problem is.14:35
rhpot1991CyberKnet: have you verified its not in the video itself?14:49
rhpot1991I'd copy the resulting file to another computer and open it in vlc or something14:49
mrandpurefusion: I believe so.  xfce was jjust chosen because it is lightweight.14:49
superm1purefusion, i'd be careful though, pulseaudio is tied really closely to gnome these days15:03
superm1and upstream mythtv doesn't support it well yet (there is code in mythtv to disable it while in myth)15:03
purefusionhmmm15:03
CyberKnetrhpot1991: That's also part of the reason I want to capture a small sample of it. Although, I have changed the video playback between Normal, CPU and CPU - also, HD from the PVR-2250 has no problem playing.15:05
CyberKnetNormal, CPU and  CPU++15:06
rhpot1991CyberKnet: sounds like a bad tuner/cable/something15:13
mrandsuperm1: I wonder if the code in mythtv to disable it explains the bug reports of people losing sound in other apps when exiting myth (they said a reboot fixes it... I wonder if just restarting their window manager would fix it).15:13
rhpot1991mrand: restarting gdm which may spawn a new frontend :)15:14
superm1mrand, oh i didn't realize such bug reports were happening15:14
superm1if these are gnome peoples, that's quite probable15:14
superm1but it's supposed to be re-enabled as soon as you exit myth15:15
CyberKnetrhpot1991: weird part is the same card with the same cable in Fedora was working fine. I am thinking I must have configured something wrong somewhere when I installed mythbuntu.15:15
mrandYeah.  Let me find those reports and see what info they contain... I've slept a few times since reading them.15:15
rhpot1991CyberKnet: if you have a recording that shows the issue, check it elsewhere to make sure its not the actual video file.  It is normally the most obvious issue.15:16
CyberKnetrhpot1991: Yes, that is my next step when I get home tonight.15:17
CyberKnetWhere do you set up resolution? I thought it was on the capturecard in mythtv-setup but didn't see it there last night15:17
CyberKnetdidn't see it when setting up the input connection either.15:17
Mysterioushello -.-20:30
Mysteriousdoes anybody know how to change back to ubuntu's normal gnome skin instead of using this mythbuntu style?20:31
Mysteriousthis new layout is confusing me strongly :(20:33
darthanubisMysterious, go to synaptic and download the theme of your choice20:35
Mysteriousi liked the ubuntu standard theme...20:35
Mysteriousdo i have to download it altough i already had it in former times?20:35
darthanubisif it is still on the system just right click the desktop and change the theme20:36
Mysterioushm maybe i should just reinstall whole ubuntu20:41
Mysteriousand never install mythbuntu again20:42
darthanubisif you have the tim eknock yourself out20:42
darthanubisI NEVER use a mythbuntu cd20:42
darthanubisI always just install ubuntu and then the mythtv packages20:42
darthanubisbut that is JUST me20:42
Mysterioushm20:42
Mysteriousi got an ubuntu boot stick to install ubuntu20:42
Mysteriousafter the setup i went to mythbuntu.org and installed mythbuntu20:43
Mysteriousso... i have to browse to the mythtv page?20:43
Mysteriousand install it from there20:44
darthanubisnoooooo20:44
Mysteriousgreat -.-20:44
darthanubisafter installing ubuntu, just open synaptic and then search for "mythtv" then install that application and all related and your done.20:45
Mysteriousevery time i give linux another try i become pissed off after a few hours :/20:45
CyberKnetI liked the mythbuntu installer, but then again - I only use that machine for MythTV20:45
Mysteriousah20:45
CyberKnetIt's much lighter weight and quicker to boot than the Fedora install it replaced.20:46
CyberKnetCouldn't comment on if the same is true that it is lighter weight and boots faster than straight ubuntu20:46
Mysterioushm....20:46
Mysteriousso i just have to use synaptics to get just the mythtv application...20:47
Mysteriousand my desktop and styles won't change20:47
darthanubisright!20:48
Mysterioushm i just tried to find it in synaptics but it isn't listed... do i have to add a reposity or something like that?20:51
Mysteriousi think it's quite obvious that i am a dummy20:53
superm1are you booting into XFCE?20:55
superm1is that what you mean?20:56
superm1if so, just log out, and then change your default login session back to gnome20:56
superm1its at the login screen session settings20:56
Mysterioushmm20:56
Mysteriousi should take a look^^20:56
Mysteriousin my taskbar menu is something about this strange XFCE20:57
MysteriousI'll be right back20:57
Mysteriousthanks so far to you all20:58
Mysterious:D21:00
MysteriousThanks so much21:00
MysteriousI am really stupid^^21:00
darthanubissuperm1, I figured as much:/21:13
BicchiI just read a post about mythbuntu 9.10 not being compatible with 9.0421:36
BicchiDoes this means that i will not be able to upgrade my box ?21:36
superm1it means that you will need to upgrade your 9.04 install to mythtv 0.2221:39
superm1tgm4883, maybe we should explicitly mention that in the bug post21:39
superm1*blog post21:39
Bicchisuperm1: As long as my box upgrades to 9.10 and still runs i am fine with that.21:41
superm1yeah it will still run fine, it's just you won't be able to talk to earlier 9.04 installs without installing mythtv 0.22 on thsoe21:42
superm1*those21:42
Bicchior will going to mythtv 0.22 with an old config break the install ?21:42
Bicchioh ok21:42
rhpot1991Bicchi: it will upgrade the database for you21:47
Bicchigood that was my main concern and also the configuration.21:47
tgm4883superm1, well what do you want to say there then?21:47
