[06:43] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Zachk18 [06:43] that's mine [06:43] take a look for links and layout [06:44] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WolterHellmund [06:44] there was mine haha [06:45] ill format it to match your style [06:56] Zachk18, where do I get the nice icons of IRC and launchpad? [06:59] yeah [06:59] sorry [07:00] I don't get visually notified unless you say my name sorry :) [07:00] ok....i'll just post each icon [07:00] but, are they part of the syntax or you just link the image? [07:00] i could link the image [07:00] here....hold on a sec [07:05] there SpacePigeon take a look [07:05] take a look where? [07:06] at your wiki [07:06] look at the wiki! [07:09] take a look [07:09] yeah, I wouldn't have bugged you, but I thought they were part of the wiki syntax [07:09] like {i} [07:09] and such [07:09] and i'll be back later [07:09] yeah [07:09] no prob [07:09] the numbering? [07:09] no [07:10] just look [07:17] oh [07:54] hey Zachk18 take a look now :) [07:55] SpacePigeon, sure [08:15] hi [08:15] wtf.. [09:14] better get sleeping now [09:14] bye Zachk18 , you should try it if you like flight sims [09:15] ok [09:15] later === akgraner__ is now known as akgraner [18:05] mdke, hello [18:57] I think I found some mistakes in the karmic documentation. I tried to file a bugreport but I've gotten no reaction. Is a bugreport the correct way to do report a (possible) error in the docs? [19:06] trijntje, welcome [19:07] Zachk18, thanks, its quiet here [19:08] yeah.....first time? [19:09] yep [19:09] well then welcome welcome [19:09] everybody thinks, documentation freeze, i'm done ;) [19:10] hmm? [19:11] Hi trijntje, what is the bug # ? [19:11] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/440227 [19:11] Launchpad bug 440227 in ubuntu-docs "non existing menu entry in networking Karmic" [Undecided,New] [19:13] trijntje, you found errors in the Dutch version of the Ubuntu Karmic Networking documentation? [19:14] missaugustina, no, in the original that I was going to translate [19:14] trijntje ok gotcha. I am looking at it now. [19:16] missaugustina, there is also a description of how the NetworkManager icon looks, but they've changed that in Karmic [19:21] missaugustina, but i cannot seem to find the 'original' docs, just the translation templates [19:34] trijntje what section of the Internet docs? [19:35] missaugustina, does this help? internet/C/nm.xml:22(para) (new to this, sorry) [19:36] trijntje alright checking that one [19:39] trijntje: I am still looking through the source [19:39] Hello. Is the package "unattended-upgrades" documented somewhere? [19:40] trijntje: you are saying the description of the icon is inconsistent with what the icon looks like in Karmic, correct? [19:40] for Network Manager? [19:40] missaugustina, yes [19:40] OK, the bug you filed says the menu option is non-existent [19:40] is that also true? [19:41] yes, in both jaunty and karmic [19:41] ok, the documentation seems to indicate it is not in that menu. [19:42] The docs seem to indicate it is in the upper right hand portion of the screen in the notification area, and to access and configure it, you have to right or left click on that portion of the screen. [19:43] trijntje so the icon for that is different in Karmic, so it won't match that description for both the wireless and LAN connections? [19:43] or just the LAN or just the wireless? [19:43] I can only check for LAN, I run karmic in vbox so i have no wireless [19:43] LAN is different [19:44] OK, this is what the documentation describes: "It looks like two over-lapping computer screens" [19:44] correct [19:44] OK, just clarifying. [19:45] no problem [19:45] I don't see where in the Network Manager documentation it points to Administration > Network [19:45] Is there a line number? [19:45] Or is that in a different document? [19:47] Administration > Network is here: Located in internet/C/modem.xml:50(para) [19:47] or the translation template: https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/ubuntu-docs/+pots/internet/nl/262/+translate [19:47] trijntje: this sounds like two separate bugs [19:48] bug 1: Network Manager LAN icon description in internet/nm.xml line 22 doesn't match Karmic [19:48] missaugustina: Error: Could not parse data returned by Launchpad: The read operation timed out [19:49] It are two different bugs, i'm sorry i didn't make that clear [19:50] bug 2: Administration > Network doesn't exist, Menu item points to it in internet/C/modem.xml:50 [19:51] Did you file two bugs or just one? [19:52] just one, i wasnt sure i was doing it the right way [19:52] It's ok, I'm reviewing the documentation to see what the confusion it [19:52] is [19:52] The networking menu comes from an entity defined in the lib directory [19:52] &networking [19:53] NetworkManager doesn't currently support modem connections, so you will need to install the gnome-network-admin package. [19:54] It doesn't look like a bug. User needs to install the gnome-network-admin package, and then the menu item will be available. [19:54] Maybe the documenatation could be more clear in that regard. [19:55] trijntje: menus are defined in libs/gnome-menus-c.ent [19:55] missaugustina, I see, we get the translation string one at the time, so i dont have the full text in front of me. Thats why I missed that [19:56] trijntje: ah ok. If you are unsure if something is pointing to the right place, anything with an "&" in front of it followed by ";" is an entity under libs [19:56] it will either be in the gnome-menus-c.ent or global.ent [19:57] trijntje: if something ever points to the wrong thing, it can always be corrected in the .ent file :) [19:57] trijntje: I will update the bug and close it out. Thanks for your help!! [19:58] missaugustina, I'm very new to all this, so I'm not realy understanding everything ;) [19:58] missaugustina, so thats for the missing menu entry bug, should i file a new one about the NetworkManager Icon? [19:59] trijntje: Yes if they don't match then definitely file a bug. [19:59] trijntje: what is the new icon? I use wireless so all I see is bars [20:00] missaugustina, it looks like two plugs plugged into eachother [20:01] trijntje: great, mention that in the bug description. That's a really easy fix. [20:04] missaugustina, http://imagebin.org/66189 [20:05] it might change later on, on alfa it looked lik the physical ethernet port.. [20:05] and than like a cable plugged into the ethernet port, and now this [20:06] trijntje: excellent. Sure post the bug and I'll assign it to myself. It probably won't make the Karmic release but I can fix it to describe whatever they end up using for the default theme. [20:07] missaugustina, will do, ill put in it changed 3 times in 5 day's [20:18] missaugustina, this is the bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-docs/+bug/440826 [20:18] Launchpad bug 440826 in ubuntu-docs "Network Manager LAN icon description doesnt match Karmic" [Undecided,New] [20:19] trijntje: excellent, I will assign it to myself and update the documents after the Karmic release when we finally see what icon they decide on :) haha [20:21] missaugustina, ok, thanks for your help [20:22] trijntje no problem, thanks for translating and taking the time to file these bugs!! [20:24] missaugustina, ubuntu must be perfect for world-domination ;) [20:25] LOL [20:30] hi all [20:30] mdke: do you plan any other release after 9.10.8 ? [20:32] I think we should try to get a lot of the older bugs closed for 10.04 since it will be a LTS release [20:32] there are a fair number of wishlist and low priority bugs which would be nice to get fixed [20:48] mdke, do we do anything with crash reports?
