UmeaboyHi!03:26
UmeaboyIsn't Apport supposed to be in upstream on the git-server?03:27
UmeaboyOr am I misstaken?03:30
UmeaboyI want to port Apport into Mandriva since I've got permission to do so.03:30
dtchenUmeaboy: what are you looking for?03:31
Umeaboydtchen: How to port it & what needs to be done. I know I have to switch libs & many more things, but what else?03:34
UmeaboyI mean.......what steps?03:34
dtchenwell, at the least you'll also need to negotiate your distro's Python approach03:35

gamla_kossanhi guys, something has borked for me13:13
gamla_kossanI htink it's that I'm missing dm-snapshot in my initrd13:14
gamla_kossan(when I boot I get an error saying "device-mapper: table: 254:1: snapshot-origin: unknown target type" and I recently modprobed dm-snapshot as well as upgraded my kernel)13:15
gamla_kossancan anyone advise on how to build a new initrd?13:15
smb_tpYou might try adding dm-snapshot to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules and run update-initramfs -u13:19
gamla_kossanthanks - gonna try that as soon as the live cd has booted up13:21
smb_tpgamla_kossan, Note that running those commands from a live-cd only affect the running session, not any installation if you are not use chroot-envs13:24
gamla_kossanright, so first thing I do is chroot the installation on disk?13:25
smb_tpright, and probably bind mount /dev and /proc13:25
smb_tpbefore chrooting that is13:26
gamla_kossanoh fsck13:27
gamla_kossanI can't reach the internet on this machine - the live cd doesn't have lvm13:27
gamla_kossanugh.13:27
gamla_kossanand rolling back to my backup won't work since it was taken with the snapshot-module in question loaded.13:28
gamla_kossanhm, I'm in a pickle here.13:28
gamla_kossananyone have any thoughts on what to do? this is, quite unfortunately, an important system.13:31
smb_tphad you tried the alternate-cd13:34
smb_tpit has a recovery option and should have lvm build-in13:34
gamla_kossanrecovery option? what does it do?13:35
gamla_kossandownloading now13:35
smb_tpIt does a chroot on a partition you tell it to13:36
gamla_kossanah13:36
smb_tpSo basically exactly the thing you wanted13:36
gamla_kossansounds like what I want13:36
gamla_kossanyeah =)13:36
CarlFKrtg: thanks for bumping my bug along13:51

apwsmb_tp, the 'b4' bug did we manage to get that tested with apparmor=0 yet?17:51
smb_tpyes, it was not the cause17:52
smb_tpIt seems I need to brush up my vfs skills to get the affected files (if I get around to that)17:52
ogasawaraapw: bug 336189, did you plan to do an SRU for Jaunty as well?  or should I just close the jaunty task.18:43
ubot3Malone bug 336189 in linux "scanlogic SL11R USB device won't work with 2.6.27-11 kernel" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/33618918:43
ogasawaraapw: and I assume I can mark it Fix Released for Karmic18:44
apwogasawara, erm, no idea.18:44
apwi have no idea, i'll put it on my todo list to check it may only be fixed in interpid18:46
ogasawaraapw: ok cool18:46
anubhavhas syslogd been disabled in karmic?19:51
anubhavi am facing some suspend/resume issues i am trying to debug the same19:52
anubhavrtg, my /var/log/kern.log is not getting updated since i started using karmic.Has logging been disabled in karmic?20:08
rtganubhav, certainly not by the kernel. is this an upgrade issue?20:09
anubhavrtg, when i use dmesg,i can see the kernel messages. But these messages no longer get stored to kern.log20:10
anubhavrtg, neither do i see syslogd running.20:10
rtgdunno, sounds like a user space issue20:10
tormodanubhav, you should have rsyslogd running20:11
anubhavtormod, i just checked and i dont have it running20:12
tormodanubhav, so install it20:13
anubhavtormod, so we no longer use syslogd20:13
tormodno20:15
tormodanubhav, ubuntu-minimal should have dragged in rsyslog for you20:16
* tormod reboots into 2.6.31-11.3820:17
buzz_hi, i've created and attached a patch for the Samsung P560 key-up-problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/338182 it would be nice if you can add this one to the karmic kernel20:19
ubot3Malone bug 338182 in linux "Samsung P560 brightness keys block keyboard and produce all-or-nothing effect" [Undecided,New] 20:19
buzz_the main reason why i'm posting this here as it will not be accepted in upstream in favor of a complete new api in .32 - as this bug causes ui lock ups it would be great if this can be shipped in ubuntu kernel20:21
buzz_the .32 api is not ready and cannot be backported at the moment20:22
buzz_it only applies to two special notebook system and causes no harm to other devices20:22
buzz_and those two notebooks do really need this patch20:23
buzz_how can i help to apply this patch?20:23
buzz_i'm talking about this patch: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/32875210/atkbd.patch20:25
