mike_hurley_1is the mythbuntu-9.10 theme's video list supposed to have been flattened in the latest rev?00:21
mike_hurley_1i have a remote key hotkeyed straight to mythvideo and it used to show the folder structure and after an update is showing all tv episodes and movies in a flat list00:22
mike_hurley_1i saw in the videos settings that the grouping was set to tv/movie and i changed to folder but no change00:23
mike_hurley_1it looks like flat mode got turned on00:41
gregLmike_hurley_1, you can turn it back, hit The M key in mythvideo and turn of flat view.00:48
mike_hurley_1yep, found it00:48
gregLerr off even00:48
gregLcool\00:48
mike_hurley_1where is that option in the setup menus or just via the M key in mythvideo?00:48
mike_hurley_1i'm in trunk/0.2200:48
gregLjust the M key as far as i know...00:49
mrandMENU key should get you there too01:01
tmktola01:35
tmktjust ionstalled 9.10 beta01:35
tmktand have been fighting all day with issues that i had working in 9.0401:35
tmktlirc - hvr-1600 remote won't work01:35
tmktlcdproc (dont care too much about this one, just a nice to have)01:36
mike_hurley_1for people running trunk/0.22 and using mythvideo, how are you mapping the I and M keys to your remote?01:51
mike_hurley_1i have a menu button with an i on it on my remote so i need to find another button to use01:52
mike_hurley_1maybe one of the red/blue/yellow/green buttons01:52
tmktmythexport has a problem on install also..SQL issue02:03
mrandtmkt, please look over the bugs listed here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mythexport and if you don't see the problem you are encountering, please file a new bug against mythexport.02:11
mrandmike_hurley_1: I think the menu button on MCE remotes is typically mapped to the MCE button.  Not sure what others use, but you should be able to find examples of lots of lircrc files.02:19
tgm4883mike_hurley_1, if you have the mce remote, the important keys for mythvideo are the green MCE button and the i button02:22
mersaultI tried to watch some recorded TV for the first time in a few days tonight, and it wouldn't play anything. I checked the logs, and I see it looking for '1571_20091007190000.mpg', but that file doesn't exist. I do however see some files recorded today ('1091_20091007000500.mpg', for instance). What the heck happened?02:46
mersaulthmmm. even weirder, I tried playing a different recording, and it tried to play the same file.02:47
tmktwhat about the lirc issues? anyone else having those?03:52

sidhgreetings everybody08:37
sidhyesterday i was near to have a working HTPC when i installed kaffeine, which smashed up my audio settings, and only audio was available with mythtv apps, but no sound with vlc/mplayer and so on, while i was investigating , some people told me that pulse audio stuff (that are dependancies of kaffeineis known to have problem with Mythbuntu (and mythtv in general), so my question is: where is the advantage to make a special mythtv distro , if you put in i08:42
tmktanyone have a solution to getting hvr-1600 remote working with 9.10 beta?15:07
johannes1hi, what does the diskless server actually do? is the image on the server used as the HDD, or does it load the image to the client ram and then use the client ram as HDD?17:48
darthanubishttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mountall/+bug/43262020:09
darthanubisSince it would seem more of us here would use XFS, can we get more testers on this bug?20:10
tgm4883darthanubis, mythbuntu doesn't use xfs by default in karmic20:10
tgm4883so your audience might not be as large as you think20:11
darthanubisyeah, but still:/20:11

mishehuhow do I set the nameserver for my mythbuntu box?  I edited the /etc/network/interfaces for a static IP.21:01
ToeBee/etc/resolv.conf21:08
ToeBeeor I guess you can do it in the "edit connections" dialog of network-manager21:09
ToeBeeunder the IPv4 Settings tab21:09
mishehuhow do you get into the network manager?21:12
mishehuit seems that it is what wrote out the existing resolv.conf21:12
* mersault usually disables the network manager on mythtv machines21:16
mishehumersault: does it cause problems?21:16
mersaultI've found that it can't be guaranteed to have the network setup in time for NFS mounts21:16
mersaultand I make extensive use of NFS in my mythtv setups21:16
mishehuah.21:16
mishehubtw, is there by any chance a good 802.11n card that is supported by native drivers?21:17
mersaultand really, it's overkill for a host that sits on a wired link and always gets the same IP.21:17
mersaultfor wireless connections, network manager is great.21:17
mishehumersault: to disable all I do is `chmod -x /etc/init.d/NetworkManager` ?21:17
hadsRemove it21:18
mersaultI use apt-get remove.21:18
mersaultif I'm feeling particularly bitter, I might even throw in a --purge21:18
ToeBeeheh21:19
ToeBeenetwork manager sits in the top gnome panel21:19
ToeBee(if you still want to use that to set name servers)21:20
ToeBeeyou just right click on the icon and go to "Edit connections"21:20
mishehualso, I'm connected via a linksys wga600n wireless bridge.  it's not very far from my linksys wap4400n, but the signal is abysmal (it can't even keep up to play a 192kbps mp3 in real time)21:20
ToeBeebut yeah, it isn't really all that helpful for a mythtv box21:21
mishehuso I was thinking of maybe getting something with an actual antenna.21:21
ToeBeetried changing channels on your wireless network?21:21
mishehucan't seem to find any 802.11n cards listed on linuxwireless.org :-/21:21
mishehuToeBee: yeah.21:21
mishehuI am sure that the fact that it's using WPA2 is slowing it down too.21:22
hadsDoubtful it would be noticable21:22
mishehuoh you got to be kidding me.  I have to create an account on cisco in order to see if my wap4400n has a firmware update?21:26
mishehuoh now they also require the b.s. "what was the name of your first pet?" insecurity questions21:29
tgm4883mishehu, out of curiosity, what was the name of your first pet?21:33
ToeBeewow really?21:34
ToeBeethat's kinda lame21:34
mishehutgm4883: you assume I have ever had a pet?  :-)21:35
mishehuand my mother's maiden name was latrine.21:35
mishehushe changed it from "sh1thouse" (men in tights)21:35
mishehuoh my fscking lord, they require you to have a mailing address on file too in order to download21:39
mishehudidn't all that nonsense about exportation of encryption get tossed out?  or is it still restricted much in the same way nuclear arms are?21:39
ToeBeenot sure. Either way, it is completely ignored by most people :)21:41
mishehuyes but it's refusing the download becuase of it, and I added one in and it requires you to do something VERY internet-explorerish...   close your browser window and open a new session21:41
mishehufirefox doesn't quite work that way out of hte box.21:41
ToeBeecisco--21:42
mishehuaside from which, that is 1997 calling asking for its website back.21:42
mishehucisco &= 253;21:42
tgm4883mishehu, what? you can't export nukes?21:43
ToeBeewill this put a dent in your upcoming business plans?21:43
mishehutgm4883: apparently the federal gov't frowns on it :-/21:44
mishehuToeBee: ask tgm4883 what he's got in those suitcases21:44
ToeBeethat's why I support states' rights!21:44
mishehuI do as well, especially for b.s. like the drinking age.21:46
mishehuI think driving, voting, serving in the military, and drinking all be at age 18.21:46
mishehu(actulaly personally I don't care if drinking is allowed much younger than that)21:47
