falehi14:13
faleI have a problem with dput and soyuz14:13
faleI'm trying to upload a big (39Mb) package on launchpad. It stops the upload 1kb before the end and hangs. How can I solve?14:14
thekornfale: there is already a bugreport about it, let me find it14:18
falethekorn: thankyou :)14:18
thekornfale: bug 25168514:18
ubottuLaunchpad bug 251685 in soyuz "PPA upload hangs with 1K to go" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/25168514:18
falethekorn: than... no solution?14:19
thekornfale: looks like no solution, yet14:20
falethekorn: :(14:21
bigjoolsfale: why is it so big?  is it an orig file that you could re-use from somewhere else perhaps?14:22
falebigjools: is the libboost package... and I have found no way to split it14:24
bigjoolsfale: what files are you uploading exactly?14:24
falebigjools: libboost_1.4014:26
faleor you means extentions?14:26
bigjoolspresumably you have a .dsc, a .orig.tar.gz and a diff?14:26
faleI have: .dsc, .build, .changes and .tar.gz14:27
bigjoolsI can check to see if the orig is already in the librarian so you could re-use it14:27
bigjoolswhat is the full file name of your tar.gz?14:27
falebigjools: boost1.40_1.40.0-2ubuntu0.tar.gz14:28
falebigjools: there shouldn't be, because I imported it from debian because in ubuntu we are still at libboost 1.3814:28
bigjoolsok no orig just a native tar14:29
bigjoolssomething that has worked for others is to upload from a different IP address14:30

AskHL_Say I have a PPA package with a pure Python program for intrepid.  I would like the corresponding PPA for, say, jaunty.  As I have understood, this should be possible by just copying the package (as per the button in the Lauchpad interface) and specifying that the copy should be for jaunty.  But when doing this, the Changelog will still specify that the series is 'intrepid', and there will probably be other such problems in the remaining package f16:34
Remaillehi how could i delete a team ? (i am the owner)16:35
Remaillethanks16:35
AskHL_The straightforward way would be to create the jaunty package the same way as I created the intrepid package.  Is it better to do that?  (in general, I presume it is, because it may in fact depend on the distribution version)16:35
Remailleok : https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/7290216:38

phuffAny launchpad devs around that know how launchpad's openid implementation works?17:13

=== salgado is now known as salgado-lunch
james_wphuff: are you giving it login.launchpad.net, your profile page, or your identity url?17:24
phuffjames_w: I'm giving it https://launchpad.net/~phuff17:27
james_wphuff: I think I remember a year or so ago when trying to sign in yo sf that I had to use the identity url17:29
james_wbut I'm not sure how to find what that is17:29
james_wand the help says that you can use sf with the url you are, so presumably someone tested that17:29
=== beuno is now known as beuno-lunch
phuffYeah, except we can't get it to work :)17:34
phuffjames_w: This is the message I get:17:35
phuff A site identifying as https://sourceforge.net  has asked us for confirmation that https://launchpad.net/~phuff  is your identity URL. However, that is not a valid Launchpad OpenID identity URL, such as https://launchpad.net/~USER17:35
phuff 17:35

james_wphuff: https://launchpad.net/~phuff is you?17:37
james_wdoes it say "OpenID login:" on that page for you?17:37

jmlphuff, is this bug the one you're seeing? https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/canonical-identity-provider/+bug/31961417:43
ubottuLaunchpad bug 319614 in canonical-identity-provider "Confusing message while logging in using openid on istylr.com" [Low,Confirmed]17:43
james_wjml: the openid help wiki page still points to an LP bug list for openid bugs, is that no longer correct?17:44
jmljames_w, possibly not. I haven't been following the work, but we've been splitting the openid stuff out of Launchpad proper17:45
phuffjml: Yeah, that looks like the same message.17:47
phuffjml: I'll look into that now.17:48
phuffjml: Thanks17:48
jmlphuff, fwiw, I'm back in the office tomorrow; once there, I'll be able to get explanations & answers more readily.17:49
tim_blechmannhi ... i am trying to upload a package to a ppa with dput ppa:<user>/<ppa> <source.changes> ... it gives me the error message "Connection failed, aborting. Check your network [Errno 111] Connection refused" ... any idea?17:52

phuffjml: Okay, I'll noodle on this for a bit and if I can't figure anything out I'll come back :)17:54
jmlphuff, cool.17:56
jmlphuff, fwiw, we have launchpad devs all over the world -- emailing launchpad-users or launchpad-dev can be a good way to make sure that all of them know about your suffering :)17:57
phuffjml: Okay :)17:57
bigjoolstim_blechmann: should be up again18:02
sinzuiphuff: jml: I really do not know much about openid. It (along with login and accounts) are owned by the launchpad foundations team. I have worked on openid, the the foundations team removed my work18:07
jmlsinzui, good news for you then :)18:07
phuffHah18:10
phuffWho's the launchpad foundations team?18:10
sinzuiphuff: When I worked on it last year, your profile page contained an xrds instruction in the head that allowed  you to use that page to initiate login in another site. the hook was really nothing more than an openid approved redirect to https://login.launchpad.net/. The user URL does not work, or at least the one that I recall does not18:11
phuffok18:12
sinzuiphuff: I believe ~user should work. The main reason my work was removed was because it users wanted to launchpad as identity rather than security18:13
phuffok18:13
sinzuiI think I mean obscurity, not security. You are not anonymous using launchpad since your launchpad id is in the url18:14

=== mnepton is now known as mneptok
wgrantphuff: It's actually bug #449105, which was incorrectly marked as a duplicate.22:11
ubottuLaunchpad bug 449105 in launchpad-foundations "logging into sourceforge with openid breaks" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/44910522:11
sinzuiphuff: wgrant: I am branching for that bug now22:12
lifeless\o/22:12
wgrantsinzui: I would, but...22:12
wgrantHm, why's it back on -foundations?22:13
wgrantAh.22:13
wgrantWhat a strange abuse of task reassignment.22:13
sinzuibecause login/sso is foundation work22:13
wgrantBut surely it belongs on c-i-p.22:14
sinzuiFoundations are sprinting. Since I guessed the xrds is broken, I get to fix it22:14
wgrantsinzui: If you look in that bug, you'll see I identified and tested a fix already.22:14
sinzuiwgrant: c-i-p does not use ~user. that is a launchpad social feature22:14
wgrantsinzui: But the XRDS is served by the SSO server.22:14
wgrantAlthough I guess maybe ~user could link to its own.22:15
sinzuiwgrant: 14 months ago the ~user page had a mixin that provided the needed metadata22:15
sinzuiI do not know what is going on now, I just knew that the xrds is broken22:16
wgrantsinzui: It already does provide its own data, mostly. It just also links to the XRDS.22:16
phuffwgrant: It's actually a bug on our side22:18
phuffwgrant: I can fix it.22:18
phuff:)22:18
phuffWe're not respecting xrds delegation correctly22:19
sinzuiwgrant: I do not know how to fix this at this moment, not even readying your remarks. I have to empty myself of all my dislike of openid and SSO and launchpad account/profile separation before I can write a test to understand what is wrong22:19
phuffAnd you guys are doing <LocalId> in your xrds file22:19
phuffThe error message is a bit confusing22:19
phuffBut other than that, you're probably doing things right.22:19
=== AnMaster_ is now known as AnMaster
=== salgado is now known as salgado-afk
wgrantphuff: The XRDS I see has no openid:Delegate or LocalId.22:21
phuffThe XRDS for my account has a <LocalId> in it22:24
phuffWhich points to something other than https://launchpad.net/~phuff22:25
phuffWhich is why I assume it's dying.22:25
phuffBut the error message is messed up22:25
wgrantI do not see the LocalId22:26
phuffSee https://launchpad.net/~phuff/+xrds22:26
wgrantI didn't even know that existed. That's not the one that is linked to in the page.22:27
wgrantBut that one does look correct.22:27
sosbornit's linked to in the headers22:27
phuffHey there sosborn :)22:27
phuffsosborn works for sf.net too :)22:27
sosbornsee curl -I https://launchpad.net/~osborn-steven22:27
wgrantArgh.22:27
wgrantSo it is.22:27
sosbornX-Xrds-Location: https://launchpad.net/~osborn-steven/+xrds22:28
wgrantSo the XRDS in the headers is different from the XRDS in the document.22:28
wgrantsinzui: ^^22:28
phuffWell, it looks like your header one is valid, we're just not parsing it correctly...22:28
sosborn  <meta http-equiv="X-XRDS-Location"22:28
sosborn            content="https://login.launchpad.net/+id/H8yy64p/+xrds" />22:28
sosbornlol I didn't even notice the meta tag was different22:29
wgrantsosborn: Right. If you look at that one, it omits the openid:Delegate and LocalIds.22:29
sosbornwe're not actually doing discovery on them atm22:29
wgrantAha.22:29
sinzuioh22:29
phuffYeah, the spec says to give the http headers priority, right?22:29
phuffSo the next question is who can get a fix out faster ;)22:30
sosbornYah, I didn't implement the meta tag because I couldn't find a provider that used it and didn't pass the header along with it22:30
sosbornWith Google your identity url is your XRDS file which is also unusual22:31
sosborneven with directed identity22:31
lifelessopenid has cruft already?22:31
phuffopenid was _born_ with cruft ;)22:31
phuffOh maybe you meant the launchpad implementation :)22:31
sosbornit's pretty much cruft + superglue and ductape22:32
lifelessNo, the spec ;)22:32
sinzuiwe hopped from 1 to 1.0 and maybe 2.0 is to not clear exactly which we support22:32
sinzui1.1 should be in that list22:32
lifelessso I'm guessing I'm not the only user that reported this yesterday? Anyhow, thanks phuff, sosborn, wgrant & sinzui for looking into thise22:32
sinzuiDO not thank me. I am still looking for a test to produce this22:33
lifelesssinzui: you're looking at it; thats all I'm crediting you with :)22:33
wgrantsinzui: It looks like all that needs to be changed on the LP end is the X-XRDS-Location http-equiv to point to LP's copy, not c-i-p's. I didn't realise that there *was* an LP copy.22:37
sinzuiwgrant: thanks for the insight22:38
* sinzui thinks we should should shutdown Launchpad's versions22:38
=== salgado is now known as salgado-afk
sinzuiwgrant: There is no c-i-p version running at the moment. There is only launchpad with a library answering to many names.22:43
wgrantsinzui: But doesn't it symlink c-i-p into lib/canonical/signon?22:44
sinzuiit does, it is login.launchpad,net22:44
wgrantSo the code is owned by c-i-p.22:44
wgrantRight.22:44
sinzuiit subclass the many of the objects in Launchpad22:45
sinzuiso if you want to fix many things, you need to change launchapd's models and views22:45
sinzuiwgrant: which is why all the xrds stuff appears to be in launchpad22:46
sinzuiwgrant: phuff: This is the What do you expect this test to return22:59
sinzuiself.assertEqual(22:59
sinzui    request.response.getHeader('x-xrds-location'),22:59
sinzui    'http://login.launchpad.dev/~sinzui/+xrds')22:59
wgrantsinzui: That bit is right.23:00
wgrantsinzui: It's the <meta http-equiv="X-XRDS-Location" ...> in the page that's wrong.23:00
wgrantNothing should use that, but I suspect some things do, and it's otherwise incredibly confusing.23:01
sinzuioh, the +id/giberish/+xrds23:01
wgrantRight.23:02
* sinzui shakes his head23:02
sinzuiwgrant: Yes, that should not exist. That was to be removed along with most of my other openid work because openid on launchpad is intended to be social23:03
wgrantsinzui: It should exist, but perhaps only for use by the SSO server.23:04
sinzuiwgrant: So the screwy part is is that that tests verify everything is sane, but since the test (in SSO) and code (in launchpad) are separated, you cannot easily see they are not working together.23:04
sinzuiwgrant: it does exists, but is not intended to be visible any more23:04
