hipitihopsuperm1: the patch mentioned in your link also does not specifically mention 15c2:0043 unless it is intended to be covered by { USB_DEVICE(0x15c2, 0xffdc) } on line 63. I have no idea about these things so just guessing.00:10
hipitihopsuperm1: also seems to be a patch for 0.8.4a and I have 0.8.600:12
ScumBagI'm having some issues with sound in 9.10. Can anyone help?00:33
hipitihoprhpot1991: sorry see my responses above to superm1, my bad00:33
hipitihopsuperm1: as for usbhid, if I do "sudo mount -t usbfs none /proc/bus/usb" and "sudo cat /proc/bus/usb/devices" then the driver listed is usbhi. See this pastebin: http://paste.ubuntu.com/294277/00:41
hipitihopScumBag: not sure I know enough to help but what is your problem... I had a problem with no sound (running hdmi) and simply needed to use the mixer to enable it00:42
ToeBeehehe seems like there have been plenty of sound problems in 9.1000:51
ToeBeenow that I have mine working I am deathly afraid of updating anything00:51
hadsWonder if I can update while my wife is watching TV.01:01
hadsWhy not.01:01
ToeBeethat's why god made SSH!01:04
hadsOh of course, that's how I do everything, just going to see if I can do it without her noticing.01:05
hadsI think I did a couple of releases ago :)01:05
ToeBeeapparently god is from Finland01:05
hadsCrap. My connection to that box died and I forgot to use screen01:27
hadsYay this is going to be fun to recover.01:33
ToeBeeheh01:33
mrandToeBee: save the config files and current package versions off, then  upgrade  away!01:38
ToeBeeactually... I have a spare TB drive sitting around. I could just dd the whole thing and be done with it!01:59
mrandToebee: Indeed.  After the update, if everything is going good, you just update with dd again in case something else happens.02:19
ToeBeeor I could rsync to my fileserver02:24
ToeBeeoh the options02:24
wolfspiritok so I installed mythbuntu 9.10 beta (I used to have 9.04) and I can't scan any channels.  With this new version it's locking me into a specific channel range based on the source.  I usually choose cable high (I have basic HD cable) and was able to get the HD channels (example 5-1, 9-1, etc.) but can no longer get those.  How do I get it to scan all channels and not be locked into a range?02:54
hadsAha, fixed you damn mysql02:54
Zinnhads: Please watch your language.02:54

hads185 didn't install but perhaps this card is too old.04:02
superm1hads, it should have guessed for you which one it needed04:03
superm1did it guess wrong?04:03
hadsYeah, 185 was recommended but when I tried to activate it it flashed up the "download and install" dialog then did nothing.04:03
hadsThis is a 7600 card.04:04
superm1weird04:04

superm1Feature04:05
hadshehe, must just be the metallurgy theme. Mythbuntu is working.04:06

=== croppa_ is now known as croppa
jeffjeffdejeffa little assistance needed please.  cannot play dvds at all.  even when running the desktop.  when through the front end, nothing happens when i put a disk into the drive, nor when i click on play dvd through the front end menu.any suggestions?09:54
jeffjeffdejeffvlc says it can't play the video_ts file.09:55
jeffjeffdejeffdo i need to install restricted drivers/decoders etc?09:55
hadsjeffjeffdejeff: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs10:01
hads!dvd10:01
ZinnSorry I don't know about dvd10:01
hadsOh poor Zinn10:02
jeffjeffdejeffhi hads.  tried that.  looks like libdvdread was already installed10:11
jeffjeffdejeffthis is a fresh install of 9.04.  not sure if that helps or not10:11
jeffjeffdejeffany suggestions as to why my cd playback is not smooth? big pauses in playback.  have tried several cds.  all same outcome.10:57
jeffjeffdejeffanything settings i can adjust?  dvd playback is fine10:57
hipitihopI'm getting the following kept back "linux-generic linux-headers-generic linux-image-generic" is that due to mirrors lagging or some other issue ?12:44
jeffjeffdejeffall.  anyone able to take me through step by step getting my remote for my hauppauge td500 to work please?13:09
rgdIf 9.04, I think you need to install the latest v4l drivers, described at http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-T-50013:27
rgdso you get the 1.20 firmware13:27
jeffjeffdejeffalready came with it13:27
rgdok, then i found http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1140411 to be the most useful for getting all the config stuff set up13:28
jeffjeffdejeffhi there. thanks. i'll have a look.  does it matter that modprobe.d/options.conf doesn't exist?  my reception seems to be ok without enabling lna13:30
rgdI tried enabling it once, but it seemed to make very little difference to the reception, so you can probably ignore it13:37
jeffjeffdejeffthanks.  so at the moment i'm just going through and copying all the details from his various files and saving them.  ?13:40
rgdyeah. You might want to also check that dmesg says something like "IR receiver inside USB DVB blah blah" somewhere, just to make sure it's recognised13:42
rgdoh and there is a " missing after REMOTE_DEVICE="/dev/input/irremote in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf13:43
jeffjeffdejeffok.  saved all the files.  do i now reboot? at what stage, and how do i go about checking dmesg?13:46
jeffjeffdejeffthanks for telling me about the missing " i wouldn't have spotted that13:46
rgdif you run sudo /etc/init.d/lircd restart13:47
rgdand see if it is happy13:47
jeffjeffdejeffcommand not found :(13:47
rgdi may have got it wrong13:48
jeffjeffdejeffshall i just reboot?13:48
rgdyeah it will have the same effect. I dont have my mythbuntu pc with me at the moment13:49
jeffjeffdejeffno problem. i appreciate your help so far.  just rebooting at the moment.  if all has gone according to plan, should the remote work when the front end has loaded?13:50
rgdtheoretically. I find things rarely do though :)13:50
jeffjeffdejeffyeah, i have found the same.  nothing seems to go smoothly, from even getting the display working, to getting the cd drive to play without gaps....right, just booting up now.......drum roll.....13:51
jeffjeffdejeff:(13:52
womboStab Damn13:55
Zinnwombo: Please watch your language.13:55
womboignore me13:55
rgdIf it didnt work, try typing dmesg into a console, and see if you get  "IR-receiver inside an USB DVB receiver" in there somewhere13:56
jeffjeffdejeffdont see anything in there14:03
rgdoh. It usually appears after all DVB stuff14:03
rgdIf it doesn't, I think you have to install the latest v4l drivers until it does14:03
jeffjeffdejeffhow do i go about doing that? sorry for the questions14:04
rgdIf you follow http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-T-500#Making_it_Work_.28generic_for_all_dib0700.2914:07
rgdthere is a link in there to generic instructions for downloading/compiling it etc14:07
jeffjeffdejeffmaking my way through it, but it means nothing to me! :)14:24
jeffjeffdejeffjust making the modules...whatever that means.14:25
jeffjeffdejeffblimey. seems to be a lott going on just to make a remote control work. :s14:35
jeffjeffdejeffgettina few "warning: format not a string literal and no format arguments" comments coming up.  does that matter?14:37
rgderm i hope not!14:38
jeffjeffdejeffhaha14:39
jeffjeffdejeffthis is taking ages.  i've yet to do the sudo make install bit yet.14:39
rgdyeah I found mythv/mythbuntu to be a pain to get working, but once it was working it was great. Wheras all the freebie windows things i tried were easy to set up, but had a habbit of screwing up in the middle of important sports events14:40
jeffjeffdejeffwell it's working fine with the keyboard after setting it up today....but can't imagine the other half would be happy without the remote working14:40
jeffjeffdejeffdid you have to build and install the v4l drivers too?14:41
rgdyes. 9.10 works without doing that, but its still beta so there are other problems with it atm14:43
jeffjeffdejeffmuch of a difference with 9.10?14:43
jeffjeffdejeffi always worry that something will stop working after upgrading - even to a "stable" release14:44
jeffjeffdejeff(god, it's now on "stage 2" of building.  hope there isn't a stage 3)14:45
rgdI tried 9.10 out and found it was pretty good actually. The interface is a bit nicer, and it had the latest drivers for bits and bobs. Also flash worked at full screen which it never did for me in 9.04. I still get occasional crashes at the moment, so I am using 9.04 for day to day stuff.14:46
rgdonce i got everything working in 9.04, I didnt install any more updates as they pretty much always broke something14:47
jeffjeffdejeffwould that explain why i can''t view youtube videos fullscreen in ff?  just closes?14:47
rgdI could view it, but it was really jerky14:47
jeffjeffdejeffoh.  well this pc i've installed it on is quite old.  so not expecting too much out of it.  but will be nice to record and schedule tv.14:48
jeffjeffdejeffjust got to "sudo make install"  reboot and then see what happens i suppose?  is there anything else to do after that?14:49
rgdafter that you should get the "IR inside blah blah" stuff14:49
rgdwhich means the rest should work14:50
jeffjeffdejeffso, what's the command i enter to see that?14:50
rgddmesg14:50
jeffjeffdejeffcheers14:51
jeffjeffdejeffwhat's an ir blaster?14:51
jeffjeffdejeffkeep reading references to them, but no idea what they are14:51
rgdDunno. Someone here probably does?14:53
jeffjeffdejeffok.  now see "input: ir-receiver inside an usb dvb receiver as /devices/pci0000 blah blah input/input614:56
jeffjeffdejeffwhat now boss?14:57
rgdtype irw14:58
rgdand then press buttons on the remote14:58
rgdand hopefully, stuff appears14:58
jeffjeffdejeffnothing appearing in console when i'm pressing thebuttons14:58
rgddoes /dev/input/irremote exist?14:59
jeffjeffdejeffyup14:59
rgdok try sudo /etc/init.d/lirc restart15:00
rgd(hopefully i got it right that time)15:00
jeffjeffdejeffdo i need to select and enable and ir transmitter in control center?15:00
rgdI think that just sets up the config files which you should have by following that forum post15:01
jeffjeffdejeffok,  got a fail on starting remote control daemon: lirc15:01
rgddoes it say anything interesting?15:01
jeffjeffdejeffok.  done it again after closing control center and get an ok for all 315:01
jeffjeffdejeffstill nothing after irw and pressing the buttons though15:02
rgdhmm usually it works at this point :)15:04
jeffjeffdejeff:(15:04
rgdIf there are no errors from /et..../lirc restart or irw, it is probably one of the config files which is wrong somehow, from the forum post15:05
jeffjeffdejeffthink it's worth copying and pasting them again?  did you use those ones?15:06
rgdyes i used those.15:06
rgdhmm i did also have to do the hal stuff (first reply in that forum post) when i first did this, but alledgedly that should be fixed now. its another thing to try though15:07
rgdalthough i think i got crap out in irw when i pressed the arrows keys, which meant i needed to do that. No output is probably something different15:08
shashwatpnswhen try running mythtv backend setup it always shows me "No Unup" backends found" and then "cannot login into database". Please help15:09
shashwatpns ???????????15:09
jeffjeffdejeffso you recon copying in the code in the first reply into the /usr/shar/hal etc might be worth a try?15:13
rgdwell when i did this, the remotes arrow keys worked, but not any of the other buttons, and that fixed it.15:15
rgdSo its not quite the same15:15
rgdBut it probably wont hurt anything either...15:15
jeffjeffdejeffwhere would i put it within the file?  there's something similar in there, but without the "inside an usb dvb receiver" etc15:16
jeffjeffdejeffhmmm. well i've put it in, and now rebooting......15:18
rgdi dont think that file existed when i did it15:19
rgdso maybe that is the "fixed" one15:19
jeffjeffdejeffhmmm.  no difference. ;(15:25
jeffjeffdejeffright, got stuff appearing in irw!15:30
rgdstuff that looks like they are labled button presses?15:31
jeffjeffdejeffyup!15:31
jeffjeffdejefflooks like it's working in the menus...15:31
jeffjeffdejeffnow trying whilst watching tv15:31
jeffjeffdejeffyeah, it works.  takes ages to change channel though - think that could be down to having bugger all ram?15:32
rgdmaybe. Mine takes a few seconds, max about 5 i think15:33
jeffjeffdejeffthank you very much for your help, patience and perseverence15:33
rgdyou're welcome :)15:34
jeffjeffdejeffrgd - you still around? have a question for you16:07
rgdyep16:07
jeffjeffdejeffwhen selecting through channels, it seems that it only sticks to bbc channels when i press up and down.  something to do with the same multiplex?16:08
rgdas in it wont change to other channels? Or the channels aren't listed?16:12
jeffjeffdejeffboth.  after a reset they're all listed, but after some time (and perhaps me trying to record something) if i'm on a bbc channel, it will go from bbc1, to 2, bbc4, 7, cbeebies etc.  nothing inbetween. :s16:13
rgdoh. I've never seen that i'm afraid.16:16
rgdThere is a "log grabber" application in the xfce menu which grabs lots of mythtv logs. maybe those will give you a clue?16:16
jeffjeffdejeffok thanks16:17
jeffjeffdejeffhmmm. looks like it had something to do with after i pressed record.16:18
rgdIf all the tuners are busy recording, maybe it constrains you to channels in the same multiplex?16:24
jeffjeffdejefflittle disappointed about the time it takes to change channels.  anything that can be done about that?17:02
tmktbtw is mythexport supposed to work?17:12
tmktwithout hacking around, and rebuilding packages?17:13
superm1rhpot1991, ^17:16

tmktwould love to have it working17:22
rhpot1991tmkt: what I would do, is get an ffmpeg line from the log, and then run it by hand a few times and try tweaking it till you get something working17:22
tmktyeah...thing is....lately the ffmpeg line has disapeared from the logs17:23
rhpot1991it opens up the ffmpeg args in the config so its fixable once we figure out what we can produce that the ipod likes withour current ffmpeg17:23
rhpot1991hmmm, no spaces or special chars in your config name right?17:24
tmktnope17:24
tmktjust default17:24

rhpot1991ok good make sure you did this: MythExport now logs everything to /var/log/mythtv/mythexport.log If you are having issues see the log for relevant information. By default, debugging info is not logged. To enable it, edit /etc/init.d/mythexport and add "debug" to the ARGS variable. Then sudo /etc/init.d/mythexport restart17:28
rhpot1991see if you get ffmpeg lines then17:28
tmktk..look into it shortly...gotta wlak kid to school17:30

ToeBeehmm may have hit a bug in mythweb or something23:55
ToeBeeunder "Upcoming recordings" I have two shows listed tonight (one after the other)23:56
ToeBeewhen i click on the first one, the radio button is set to "record only this showing"23:56
ToeBeebut when i click on the 2nd one the radio button is set to "do not record this program23:56
ToeBeeoh that's nifty. Under "Recording Schedules" that show is listed 3 times (probably the 3 times I told it to record because the radio button kept coming up wrong)23:58
ToeBeeok yeah if I delete two of them things seem to be back the way they should be23:59
