[02:07] hello, is it possible to execute a certain script or some commands while installing the kernel package [02:08] the commands or script has to contain in the kernel package, where should I add those commands/script? [04:26] who do I contact about having linux-restricted-modules-2.6.28-16-lpia_2.6.28-16.21_lpia.deb packaged and posted to ports.ubuntu.com === lamont` is now known as lamont2 === lamont2 is now known as lamont [14:39] Ubuntu seems to really like VM technologies, and unfortunately, VMWare is a big one. open-vm-tools is a Free replacement for the vmware tools suite - it's even made by vmware. [14:39] Can we get the packaging fixed, so it's usable? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/open-vm-tools/+bug/277556 [14:39] Malone bug 277556 in open-vm-tools "should build kernel modules with dkms" [Undecided,Confirmed] === Keybuk_ is now known as Keybuk === cjwatson_ is now known as cjwatson [18:25] Hey, i'm trying to compile the kernel but i get the message that a 'module' can't be built-in cause it depents on some other module. Is there any documentation out there which could specify which module that would be? [18:36] looks like /sbin/installkernel is still broken in karmic [18:36] I thought it had been fixed [18:36] * jbarnes is sad [18:49] * apw gives jbarnes a hug [18:49] apw: I take it you don't use "make install" for quick kernel testing? [18:49] jbarnes, nope generally not [18:50] but most of my testing is carried out by other people, as i don't have the bust h/w [18:50] yeah [18:50] I guess I'll file an lp for it [18:50] its a bit poor if its broken tho. [18:50] yeah subscribe me to it if you would [18:51] jbarnes, so these gpu hags which we don't find in the driver ... could we add a thread to watch over it? [18:52] that's kind of what we do already, but apparently we don't catch all the conditions [18:54] ahh ok ... [18:57] there was an existing report for installkernel marked fixed, so I reopened [20:35] (i saw on linux tv wiki that : " Some "broken" devices where sold with cold id: 0547:2235 . You will need to enable CONFIG_DVB_USB_DIBUSB_MB_FAULTY in the kernel .config to catch those. === bjf is now known as bjf-afk
