eboyjrHello. I found kind of a big bug in Karmic and I was wondering if it was just my system: In flash (ubuntu-restricted-extras) 64-bit, sometimes when I click something in it, it does not recognize it. I would have to click it a few time to e.g. press a button. Is this just me?04:36
eboyjrBleh. Nvm it's bug 44475704:38
ubot4Launchpad bug 444757 in compiz "Can't click butttons inside flash (like play/pause in youtube) (dup-of: 410407)" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/44475704:38
ubot4Launchpad bug 410407 in flashplugin-nonfree "[READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/41040704:38
mac__vbdmurray: hi... Bug #461399 and any such similar bugs are dupes of libgnome bug... already humanity got 3 bugs related , its not a humanity-icon-theme bug :(04:44
ubot4Launchpad bug 461399 in humanity-icon-theme "Missing icons in main menus (dup-of: 407621)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/46139904:44
ubot4Launchpad bug 407621 in libgnome "(design decision) Icons missing from context menu , dialogue buttons , firefox bookmark favicons, system menu" [Wishlist,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/40762104:44
eboyjrOh lol I didn't know that was a bug. I thought that was a feature. I think it looks nicer without those icons :P04:48
eboyjrGood night04:48

balahi, i am using a dell 1525 laptop, intel GM965/GL960, i have upgraded to karmic, and am unable to access my text consoles. any idea how i could fix this?14:09
balaalso, i am unable to resume after a suspend,14:10
charlie-tcabala: You might ask that in #ubuntu+1 or #ubuntu, this channel is for triaging bugs14:11
balacharlie-tca: oops sorry!14:11
charlie-tcano problem14:11
hggdhcharlie-tca: good morning15:23
hggdhcharlie-tca: some time ago I marked you are "currently unavailable" for mentoring. Would you be ready to return?15:24
charlie-tcagive me until after next week, please15:24
charlie-tcaI still can't quite follow much in xchat and do anything else yet15:25
charlie-tcaThanks15:25
hggdhcharlie-tca: of course, no problems. Thank you, and I hope life gets better for you.15:25
charlie-tcaImproves a little each day15:25
bdmurrayhggdh: there seem to be a fair number of mentees15:56
hggdhbdmurray: yes, I was just going through the requests (I am late, sorry). We need more mentors15:56
jcastrobdmurray: I messed up someone's bugcontrol but fixed it, sorry for the mailspam15:58
MsMacoi dont know how to be a mentor!  (but yes, im signed up to be one)15:58
bdmurrayjcastro: I was wondering what was up.15:58
MsMacoi wish i had a...10GHz CPU pbuilder would go faster.... with nitrogen cooling because dang thatd get hot15:58
hggdhMsMaco: it is easy, it is just steering them to the right direction, and some explaining.15:59
hggdhyou have done a lot of it already -- for example, all the sound help you gave16:00
hggdhpedro_: right now I intend to dup all eds bugs that show gconf calls on multiple threads16:06
hggdhand one of these threads is the one that got hit16:06
pedro_hggdh, yeah, will do the same for the ones showing those gconf calls16:07
pedro_hggdh, i think we have ~50 dups there16:07
hggdhpedro_: cool. I am wondering if we are getting more of them now due to evolution-indicator (a heavy dbus user)16:08
hggdhi.e., the problem is mostly a race condition, and before we did not have that many calls to gconf/dbus16:09
bdmurrayhggdh: how will you be doing the duplication?16:09
pedro_hggdh, mm could be...16:09
pedro_is launchpad not showing the number of duplicates on the master report or i'm just getting blind?16:10
hggdhbdmurray: manually. Each threadStackTrace must be looked at :-( having two threads showing gconf/dbus calls, *and* one of them being the failed seems to be good, though16:10
hggdhpedro_: I see no count of dups16:11
bdmurrayhggdh: there is no bug pattern you could write?16:11
pedro_hggdh, *sigh* it was there before :-/16:11
hggdhbdmurray: as soon as I am happy the conditions above are sufficient, yes, I can write a pattern16:11
hggdhand then we can just let apport do its magic :-)16:12
bdmurrayhggdh: that only works for bugs going forward, the existing reported ones will be need to duplicated by someone (not apport)16:13
thekornin theory it should be possible to write a script which applies a bugpattern to a set of existing bugreports16:18
pedro_didn't mdz wrote something similar?16:18
bdmurrayI do something like that and blogged about it a bit ago16:19
hggdhbdmurray: care to give me the URL?16:19
thekornhmm, I'm sure I've sth. like that before16:19
thekornmaybe I even used it, damn brain16:20
bdmurrayhttp://www.murraytwins.com/blog/?p=4516:20
hggdhanyway, right now I have to see if this hunch applies16:20
=== yofel_ is now known as yofel
hggdhbdmurray: thanks16:24
thekornha, I knew it ;) also have some code to use bugpatterns in an attempt to rewrite bughelper at lp:~thekorn/+junk/new.bughelper, applying bugpattern there is as easy as running  "bin/bughelper -D ubuntu -p vino --bugpattern"16:40
hggdhthekorn: thank you, seems a good way to test16:45
lillemanI'm pretty sure I found a bug... If anyone would help me to report it and/or verify it, would be nice17:02
lillemanxmodmap for ISO_Level3_Shift does not work for qt/gnome apps17:02
lillemanbut for X-apps in general (like the terminal)17:02
hggdhbdmurray: I am looking at bug 408977 -- apport marked it as a dup, but I cannot see such a bug pattern from the ~ubuntu-bugcontrol/apport/ubuntu-bugpatterns17:04
ubot4hggdh: Bug 408977 on http://launchpad.net/bugs/408977 is private17:04
bdmurrayhggdh: bug patterns actually prevent bug filing while apport does duplicate marking on its own17:05
hggdhso where did apport get the data to mark it as a dup?17:05
bdmurrayhggdh: and its duplicate tracking it doesn on its own17:05
bdmurrayer does17:05
hggdhoh. So I have to download apport source to find it?17:06
bdmurrayhggdh: if you want to see how the duplicate detection works, I'd imagine yes17:07
hggdhk, thanks. Looking at it now17:07
snkizI'm running chromium from the daily ppa and I ran into this bug http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=25768 basically chromium wont load plugins correctly if I'm running an openbox session but works fine if I use gnome. I know its know not an ubuntu package but I was wondering since karmic is just out if maybe its an ops in ubuntu could be the cause.17:33
micahgsnkiz: #ubuntu-mozillateam would be the place to ask about it17:36
snkizok thanks17:37

ubot4Launchpad bug 442157 in rhythmbox "The autoaudiosink element is missing" [Low,Incomplete]20:33
hggdhbdmurray: I am not sure how to set a pattern for the EDS/gconf/dbus issues20:39
hggdhwhat I have: the offending thread *must* have gconf calls; *and* another thread *must* have gconf calls20:40

micahgwould individual per version support channels help?21:28
hggdhit might, micahg, but one of the problems was having support people around21:31
hggdhat least it would minimise the amount on one single channel21:31
micahgwell, the support people could sign into all the channels21:31
hggdhone idea to discuss, yes21:32

danagecan i point the attention to bug #417786 in network manager? UMTS (3G) devices that use ttyACM0 appear to be broken in karmics network manager. i use yet another device that uses this driver and it doesn't work either21:38
