[01:09] anybody home today? [01:09] kubuntu is the dream upgrade :) [01:15] Evening all [01:20] hi sbalneav [01:20] got a question ... upgrading to 9.10 do i need to do a client rebuild? [01:22] Yes [01:22] absolutely. [01:23] next question, can i use linuxmint as the base, rather than ubuntu? [01:24] i ask because linuxmint would have all the multimedia included, and i'd bypass that configuration step [01:31] * sbalneav looks at the channel header [01:31] Dunno. [01:32] I'd ask at #linuxmint :) [01:40] sbalneav: sorry, i shoulda asked in ltsp [01:41] If there's ltsp packages in linuxmint, maybe. [01:43] next question, i did not get a prompt to do an upgrade [01:43] In what? [01:43] and apt-get dist-upgrade doesn't seem to be working [01:43] Prompt to update the ltsp chroot? [01:44] prompt to update ubuntu [01:44] to 9.10 [01:44] and/or edubuntu [01:44] What version are you running? [01:44] 9.04 [01:45] If I go to the update manager on my 9.04 box, there's a section at the top that says "New distribution release 9.10 is available" [01:45] ok, thx [01:45] With a button beside it to update. [01:45] See it? [01:46] i'm a kubuntu on my own system, so i know ubuntu some, but not enough [01:46] Well, I don't know about kubuntu. [01:47] But in the gnome update manager, it tells you. [01:48] You won't get any indication for the ltsp chroot. [01:48] When you update your system you have to build a new chroot. [01:49] anytime i add new software, i need to build a new chroot? [01:50] Well, when you update the distro, yeah. [01:51] but if you've got a karmic box, with a karmic chroot, and you just want to add a program for your users to use on the server, then no. [01:52] ok, i was always confused about that [01:52] when do you update chroot? what scenarios? [01:52] wait, it's prolly in the manual? [01:52] Why yes! [01:53] It is :) [01:53] :p [01:53] anywho, the kubuntu upgrade on my office standalone was soooo good, and the updated kde is soooo nice === HedgeMag1 is now known as HedgeMage [04:32] anybody know why an 9.04 - 9.10 update would take 20 hours?
