Deathvalley122anyone here?07:28
dtchenDeathvalley122: just ask.07:35
Deathvalley122well07:36
Deathvalley122some people are saying it's a kernel issue idk but there seems something wrong with my dvd drive in karmic07:37
eagles0513875Deathvalley122: paste the link bro07:38
Deathvalley122eagles0513875: 07:38
Deathvalley122can you07:38
Deathvalley122I am installing java07:38
eagles0513875ahhh ok lol 07:39
eagles0513875dtchen: his bug and issue is this http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=819336107:39
eagles0513875dtchen: does that look like a kernel issue to you or something else07:40
dtchenseems odd; I wouldn't rule out a linux issue, but I don't think that's what's causing it.07:43
dtchenis this with GNOME, KDE, or Xfce?07:43
Deathvalley122gnome07:44
dtchenwonder if it's brasero (again)07:44
eagles0513875Deathvalley122: brasero = cd burning program07:44
Deathvalley122eagles0513875: 07:44
Deathvalley122I don't use that07:45
Deathvalley122lol07:45
eagles0513875maybe not but it could be possibly conflicting with something07:45
dtchenit doesn't matter if you use it directly or not; it's used by nautilus07:45
Deathvalley122I just stick a disc in and eject it and it starts that error and I have unmount the drive07:45
dtchen-> libbrasero-media007:45
eagles0513875Deathvalley122: what hes saying is brasero is tied in with nautilus so even though you dont use brasero some other programs use it07:46
Deathvalley122eagles0513875: I couldn't tell you 07:46
Deathvalley122I don't know what it is07:46
eagles0513875thats what dtchen is saying07:47
eagles0513875brasero like i mentioned before is the gnome program to burn cd's and dvds07:47
Deathvalley122dtchen: I reported a bug about it but ...07:47
Deathvalley122I don't know07:47
Deathvalley122I know what it is eagles0513875 I don't use that one to burn dvd's07:48
Deathvalley122but anyways07:48
eagles0513875hes saying nautilus has it tied into it and it could be the underlying cause of your issue07:48
eagles0513875dtchen: how badly would it break nautilus if he uninstalled brasero07:48
eagles0513875or gnome in general if he uninstalled it07:49
dtchenwell, he likely wouldn't be able to have automount and other user-friendly things07:49
dtchenit should be fairly straightforward to deduce what role GNOME libs/apps have in it07:50
dtchenboot into a failsafe X session without GNOME07:50
dtcheninsert the DVD07:50
dtchenmount it manually from an xterm07:50
dtcheninspect the kernel ring buffer as dumped by dmesg07:50
Deathvalley122I'll try that after I get done with a transfer with someone07:51
Deathvalley122I don't want to interrupt the transfer :(07:51
eagles0513875Deathvalley122: when you inspect dmesg like dtchen you can pastbinit if you would like so i can take a look at it as well07:52
Deathvalley122if you want ...07:53
Deathvalley122can't do it atm though eagles051387507:53
eagles0513875i know just when ever you do get around to trying it 07:53
Deathvalley122probably not for 2 days maybe and I don't want to break anything atm07:54
zeroXtenheya. I'm running a script via udev to lock the screensaver (in Karmic), getting Failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon: /bin/dbus-launch terminated abnormally with the following error: No protocol specified#012Autolaunch error: X11 initialization failed. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? Display and Xauthority seem to be exported correctly. Worked fine on Hardy.13:21
