dindacprofitt: not lately00:25
cprofittWorth checking out then...00:26
cprofittwe have refocused on building some courses on how to 'write courses' using Moodle, asciidoc and Bzr00:27
cprofittMy hope is that once we give people the blue print for producing courses that we can recruit some folks to start writing additional courses.00:27
dindacprofitt: nice to see some content in there!00:28
cprofittyeah... and doctormo has 9 courses written on his blog that we need to convert as well.00:29

JerVAI'm interested in joining ubuntu learning classroom14:12
pleia2hi JerVA14:15
JerVAHello14:15
pleia2JerVA: are you interested in teaching classes in #ubuntu-classroom or recruiting others to?14:16
JerVAI am just interested in learning about ubuntu14:17
JerVANot teaching classroom14:17
pleia2ah ok, for Classroom you just wait until there are classes being held - they are often advertised on fridge.ubuntu.com and wiki.ubuntu.com/Classroom is updated when we have classes14:18
pleia2(nothing is scheduled at the moment)14:18
mhall119|workJerVA: are you involved with a LoCo?14:19
JerVANo.14:19
pleia2Local/Community (LoCo) teams are a great way to learn from people14:20
pleia2JerVA: where are you located?14:20
JerVAVirginia14:20
JerVAUSA14:20
pleia2this project just develops coursework, it's up to LoCo teams and other groups to teach it (we'll also have a Moodle self-learning portion of the project, but that's still in its infancy)14:21
JerVAit sounds like it is learning portal14:21
JerVAonline learning that is, right?14:21
mhall119|work#ubuntu-classroom does that14:21
mhall119|workJerVA: ubuntu-learning is a project to create teaching material14:22
pleia2yeah, #ubuntu-classroom has Ubuntu classes, and Moodle is the online learning thing - but we don't have many classes up on Moodle yet14:22
pleia2Might be interested in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/VirginiaTeam ..or depending on how close you are to DC: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DCTeam14:22
JerVAI am closer to DC as well14:23
mhall119|workJerVA: you can join #ubuntu-us-va to chat with local users14:23
JerVAwonderful!14:25
JerVAI am really interested in changing from XP to Ubuntu14:25
pleia2there is also #ubuntu-dc14:27
mhall119|workpleia2: I wanted to let you know that I haven't lost interest in ubuntu-learning14:28
mhall119|workit's just been a crazy week for me with work and midterms at school14:28
pleia2mhall119|work: understandable, thanks14:28
pleia2I'm getting ready for UDS next week and have a bunch going on at work, so I've been equally unresponsive14:28
pleia2are you or michelle going to UDS?14:28
mhall119|workyeah, I understand things get crazy around UDS time14:29
mhall119|workpleia2: unfortunately no14:29
wrstmhall119|work: i've been hanging around for a while here do i take it the purpose is to help develop learning materials etc?14:29
mhall119|workwe've been going too much lately, we both need to take a break before we burn out14:29
pleia2wrst: yep, it's outlined on the wiki page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Learning14:29
pleia2mhall119|work: good plan :)14:29
wrstok been checking some of that out what exactly do members do?14:29
mhall119|workdid you see our party pictures?14:30
pleia2wrst: some of us write courses, some of us recruit brilliant minds to write courses14:30
mhall119|worksome of us will be converting ODF content to asciidoc14:31
wrstso great and wonderful knowledge isn't exactly required?14:33
wrstneeded but not required i should have said :)14:33
pleia2right14:34
pleia2also course review, testing (so we need newbies too to tell us if the courses make sense to them)14:34
wrsti could do that :)14:35
wrsti'm not a newbie but i'm certainly not advanced14:36
JerVAI'd say I'm in between newbie to intermediate14:47
wrstintermediate... yeah  JerVA :)14:51
ZachK_WWWWWWOOOOOTTTTT14:51
wrstinterestingly enough it seems a lot of times there's info for the very new and the very experineced14:51
ZachK_sorry pleia2 couldn't help maself14:51
JerVAWith what kind of cognition I have I just help out in forums and support so I can learn on my own and I prefer to learn from others too14:52
JerVAmy former job I did the same - technical support14:52
pleia2wrst: I think that's because it's the easiest to write, writing intermediate stuff is tricky14:52
wrstthat's a good point pleia2 its easy ( to some extent ) to dumb stuff down and the very technical is well very technical but for intermediate where is the balancing act14:53

doctormoAfternoon swoody, sorry for being late, I promised to check in with you on Monday. How are things going?19:32
nigel_nbdoctormo: ping21:13
doctormonigel_nb: hey!21:13
nigel_nbdoctormo: hello :)21:13
nigel_nbdoctormo: sorry about yday, my glasses broke and I had to get it fixed21:14
nigel_nbdoctormo: were u able to review what I've written so far?21:14
doctormonigel_nb: Yes, the first 5 parts right?21:18
nigel_nbdoctormo: yah21:19
doctormonigel_nb: Yes I have reviewed them21:19
nigel_nbdoctormo: any changes I have to make in the style?21:19
doctormonigel_nb: One problem I see is that the seperation between overview and practical isn't destinct yet, in section 02 you give the command (which is fine) but the language is almost instructional instead of descriptive.21:21
nigel_nbdoctormo: I'll make some changes to them today.  then go ahead with the remaining21:22
doctormonigel_nb: Not that it really matters too much for the first draft of course, I just want to make sure _I_ understand what the difference is.21:23
nigel_nbdoctormo: :) I'm still the budding guinea pig :P21:23
nigel_nbdoctormo: what would be better completing everything and then making changes or trying to correct and then finish?21:24
doctormoSo there is an overview which describes the concepts of what your about to do and any theory "This thing is like that", but you'd never mention "you" or "I". Then the practical can actually describe the actions in terms of "you must do this or that" so you don't just have to have bullet points for the practical if you don't want to be brief.21:24
doctormonigel_nb: It's up to you, you can change it as you want. I just want to describe some stuff now and you can tell me if they make sense at all.21:25
nigel_nbdoctormo: I was having that doubt all along when I was doing21:25
nigel_nbdoctormo: I wasnt really comfortable using "I" and "you" in overview..21:26
nigel_nbdoctormo: I'll try to change them today or else I wont get the workflow correct in my head at all21:26
doctormonigel_nb: Aye, your gut was right :-) let me know how it goes.21:26
nigel_nbdoctormo: sorry, webchat stopped working21:30
doctormonigel_nb: the last thing I said was [16:26] <doctormo> nigel_nb: Aye, your gut was right :-) let me know how it goes.21:30
nigel_nbdoctormo: i got that21:31
nigel_nbdoctormo: what i posted wasn't getting on the chat21:31
doctormoAh, repost to me if you can21:31
nigel_nbdoctormo: did u get the part about me being at work?21:31
doctormono21:31
nigel_nboh, okay...21:31
doctormoWhat I said was the last thing21:31
nigel_nbi'm at work right now, when i get home (in around 4 hours), we'll work this21:32
nigel_nbyou probably need to ask pleia2 to add styles into her getting started guide21:32
nigel_nbit would help21:32
nigel_nbas in writing styles21:33
nigel_nbdoctormo: I'll see you in a few hours21:42
nigel_nbdoctormo: will you have some time today?21:42
doctormonigel_nb: hopefully, although I'll be at the SETC teaching desktop this evening, so maybe not.21:43
nigel_nbdoctormo: I'll push the changes i make then...and you can review them later21:43
doctormonigel_nb: Thanks a lot man.21:43
nigel_nbdoctormo: happy to help :)21:44
doctormo:-)21:44
