rsc___so hey.00:56
rsc___what does it mean when something's supposed to be "tango compliant"?00:56
coz_rsc___,  there are requirements for tango let me see if I can find that00:57
coz_rsc___,   http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines00:58
rsc___ah. there we go.00:58
coz_rsc___,  I am personally not very keen on tango icons etc but many many  people are01:00
rsc___i see a lot of people making a fuzz about an icon set's "tango-compliance" even on icon sets that bear little resemblance to Tango. I always assumed this was some convention on filenames, but i realized that's freedesktop's (i think)01:01
rsc___neither am I really01:01
rsc___at least, it's visual style with a tendency to have thick strokes when upscaled01:02
coz_yes01:02
rsc___but i've always found the effort it took to orchestrate and execute to be beyond admirable.01:02
coz_now there is the new  elementary project  and it is starting up a bit slowly01:02
coz_I dont see ...or actually havent looked... to see if elementary has requrements for it01:03
rsc___ah, there... from what I understand, Ubuntu's new icon theme humanity is a derivative of that, and I often hear complaints today of it's tango (non-)compliance01:03
coz_http://www.elementary-project.com/01:03
rsc___awesome.01:05
coz_I prefer that look over tango01:06
rsc___same.01:06
rsc___massive improvement imho.01:06
coz_rsc___,  well its another choice ... and the more choices someone has  regarding linux ... I believe... the better off everyone is01:07
rsc___yep.01:07
rsc___IMHO, it's also evolution.01:07
rsc___tango was and is a great effort.01:07
rsc___i bet a lot of these icon themes started as a project to improve upon tango (gnome-colors, elementary, and the likes)01:08
coz_rsc___, http://www.oxygen-icons.org/01:08
rsc___and today the humanity set's a very welcome improvement to the linux desktop (in most peoples opinion anyway)01:08
rsc___oxygen was good too01:09
rsc___wasn't much of a fan though01:09
coz_understood01:09
mac_vkwwii: hope you guys plan to add new sounds for Lucid...05:00
kwwiimac_v: dude, I wish that too06:15
kwwiibut I can almost promise you that it will not happen because the whole chain is not in place06:16
kwwiithen again, maybe I am just being stupid06:16
kwwiitime for sleep06:16
* kwwii is not in the best of mood and I apologize for it06:17
mac_vthorwil_: hey , did you see the scrollbar in google wave? its kinda similar to your idea... not exactly, but sorta08:28
=== thorwil__ is now known as thorwil
=== thorwil_ is now known as thorwil
mac_vthorwil__: ping... ;)14:19
thorwil__mac_v: about to take a walk. shoot. quick.14:28
mac_vthorwil__: did you get my earlier IM>  hey , did you see the scrollbar in google wave? its kinda similar to your idea... not exactly, but sorta14:28
thorwil__mac_v: no, didn't. if i only knew what causes my recent connection problems ...14:29
thorwil__mac_v: i saw them on screenshots but have no idea how the work14:29
mac_vthorwil__: yeah , i noticed you kept dropping out... hence ;)14:29
mac_vthorwil__: it works kinda similarly , the scrollbar is fixed in size14:29
mac_vbut it does not appear where the user points14:30
mac_vand not sure if page scroll is present14:30
mac_vthorwil__: I'm sure you can also get an invite at the UDS  ;p14:31
mac_vfor google wave14:31
mac_vthorwil__: anyways , just wanted to mention... you could use it as a plus point when you show it to others  ;) [google likes your idea]14:33
thorwil__mac_v: only for the vague notion that google is willing to put something different in place of the traditional scrollbar ;)14:34
* thorwil__ leaves14:34
darkmatterhmmm... I should pester the banshee devs14:36
mac_vdarkmatter: for the scrollbar? hyperair?14:37
darkmattermac_v: had a simple idea regarding the tooltip as a replacement for the mini player. instead of just a pretty tooltip. have it as a 'popup' as sorts, toss in the controls for previous, play/pause, and next in front of the progress slider (which would be able to be interacted with), and like an icon or button to restore banshee *shrug*14:40
darkmattermac_v: I believe in avoiding right-click context menus whenever possible. a ui should be fully discoverable for the most part, not hidden away :P14:41
mac_vdarkmatter: UNR does that [avoid right-click] in some places... but I get the point , yeah the controls can appear on hover and a user should be able to just click the overlay icons14:45
darkmatteraye14:45
darkmatteranyway. I need to commit the evil act known as 'sleep' o/14:52
mac_vkwwii: sent you a mail...[an idea for the monochromatic icons] just a reminder , in case you get too busy with the sprint to even check mails ;p17:33
thorwil__too busy for emails but still paying attention to irc? :)17:34
mac_vthorwil__: well he keeps saying he gets a *lot* of mails... so this way he might try to get to the mail ;)17:35
* thorwil__ made backups right before creating an additional account, this time. hope it will not fuck up the whole installation again17:36
mac_vthorwil__: best comment by one of the UX team "Day two. Shoot me." ;)17:37
heisemberghola17:37
heisembergalguien habla español?17:37
heisembergque requisitos se necesitan para colaborar ....17:38
heisembergwhich are the requirements for working?17:40
mac_vheisemberg: most of the users speak English here... Yo no hablo español ;)17:40
heisembergok17:41
heisembergthen try to communicate through a translator17:42
heisembergI know that conditions are needed to help in this community17:44
mac_vheisemberg: you can see > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork < for information about contributing to artwork17:48
heisembergas I begin17:52
thorwilmy /boot/grub is full of .mod's!!18:31
thorwilwhere's the equivalent of menu.1st?18:31
mac_v!grub2 | thorwil18:31
ubottuthorwil: GRUB2 is the default Ubuntu boot manager in Karmic. For more information and troubleshooting on GRUB2 please refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub218:31
mac_vthorwil: grub.cfg ,but do *not* edit it18:32
thorwilreading, thank you, mac_v18:32
mac_vnp.. :)18:32
thorwili see a pattern here. we used to have an editable and dead simple resolv.conf ...18:34
* thorwil is unhappy about added complexity with no apparent gain18:38
mac_vthorwil: any idea , whats with the mailing list? some mails dont arrive and some arrive late... very odd :/19:09
thorwil_mac_v: didn't notice19:13
mac_vthorwil_:  i got saleel's mail but havent yet got the initial mails sent by kwwii  , there seems to be some problems somewhere  :(  are you using gmail or ... ?19:14
thorwil_mac_v: oh right, i sometimes do see replies arrive before what-is-replied-to. on various lists19:18
thorwil_mac_v: i use a freemail provider via evolution. almost never via web interface19:18
mac_vah , so then its not just me... \o/19:18
