corp186I debugged an X crash, patched it up, and got the fix pushed upstream into the xserver git repo03:02
corp186It fixes bug 36148903:03
ubottuLaunchpad bug 361489 in xorg-server "Xorg crash when usb mouse is connected before gdm login" [Medium,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/36148903:03
corp186I left a comment about this in the bug03:03
corp186is there anything else I can do to help get this fix released for ubuntu?03:03
corp186actually, I'm going to take my question to #ubuntu-x as it's a more appropriate channel03:08

Amaranthmvo: You mean for a PPA?12:27
mvoyeah12:27
AmaranthI figured I'd wait for an actual 0.9 release12:28
Amaranth0.9 is meant to be feature complete, not necessarily stable12:29
Amaranthso until then features are missing :)12:29
mvoAmaranth: do you have a overview how much is missing at this point?12:29
Amarantherr, I mean it'll have the same features as 0.8.x minus things intentionally removed12:30
Amaranthmvo: I think just the cube addons (gears, etc) and dbus12:30
Amaranthmvo: But I don't know for sure12:30

chrisccoulsonpitti - what do you think about me updating tracker to 0.7.x this cycle?14:44
chrisccoulsonmbiebl asked me last night if i had any plans to do that14:44
chrisccoulson(now it is an external dependency of gnome)14:45
pittichrisccoulson: sounds fine; do you think there's a major risk to it?14:50
chrisccoulsonpitti - it's quite a substantial change and the architecture of tracker changed a lot. although the 0.6.9x branch is still officially considered to be the "stable" branch, it doesn't really get any attention any more, and there's a lot of long standing issues which nobody is ever going to fix in that version (it's pretty much abandoned now)14:53
chrisccoulsonmbiebl has been running 0.7.x for a while now, and says its starting to get quite stable and useable now14:53
pittiif 0.7 is actively maintained, that sounds like the better option then14:53
chrisccoulsonyeah, i think so. and it has lots of extra benefits too (like splitting the store from the indexer, which will be reflected in the new packaging too)14:54
chrisccoulsonand the bugs for 0.6.9x keep piling up in launchpad, and nobody knows what to do with them any more ;)14:54

TheMusoHey all those in Dallas. Whats the weather like, and what is it going to be like next week?21:11
rickspencer3TheMuso, well ... it's a bit chilly in th air conditioning21:14
rickspencer3but seems warmish outside21:14
dtchen_TheMuso: 21.4C and clear now, should be partly cloudly tonight Dallas time, partly sunny tomorrow same temp, partly sunny Fri slightly warmer; next week, mostly sunny early-on, slightly cooler21:18
TheMusoOk so teens/twenties celcius, nice/.21:19
hggdhnext week is going to be a bit colder, with temps on 5C to 14C21:48
hggdhalso this is Texas. If you do not like the weather, just wait a bit, and it will change (probably to something you like even less)21:48

seb128robert_ancell_, hey22:41
seb128robert_ancell_, how busy are you today? ;-)22:41
robert_ancell_seb128, hey.  depends on what horrible job you have :)22:42
seb128bug #455421 collects duplicates if you can have a look22:42

seb128I expect it's a gstreamer issue22:42
seb128I might try to ping slomo tomorrow about it though in case he has an idea so maybe don't hurry on it22:43
robert_ancell_ech, gstreamer again22:43
seb128and otherwise seems libmms has some issues an no upstream22:43

seb128joke aside that's in case you don't have anything special to do, feel free to decline22:44
robert_ancellI'm working on a simple scanning tool prototype :)22:44
seb128I see :-)22:44
seb128if you get bored we could also use a simple photo editor too apparently22:45
JanCrobert_ancell: something like flegita ?22:48
robert_ancellJanC, yes but simpler and there were too many problems to make flegita work on Jaunty22:49
seb128robert_ancell, should I assign this gstreamer bug to you then?22:50
JanCrobert_ancell: if you can make scanning easier, my dad will be happy  ;)22:52
robert_ancellseb128, If you know someone who knows gstreamer better assign it to them and I'll have a look in the meantine22:52
seb128robert_ancell, k I will ask slomo22:53
robert_ancellJanC, does this look easy enough? http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/I5E3F1r1asGr1VSdh5cMKA?feat=directlink22:53
JanC*ugh* stupid picasa javascripts  :P22:54
robert_ancellJanC, yeah, I was trying to find an easy way to upload an image..  Hmm I should use U122:54
JanCimagebin.ca  ;)22:54
rickspencer3_robert_ancell, did you write that scanner app?22:54
rickspencer3_I designed an even simpler one22:55
JanCbut it might be okay, don't know exactly what he expects22:55
rickspencer3_one button that says "scan" ;)22:55
robert_ancellrickspencer3_, did it yesterday afternoon.  Going to put it on LP today22:55
robert_ancellrickspencer3_, you need to hint what sort of image it is so it can decide if it should save it as jpeg, pdf, autocrop, ocr...22:56
JanCalso, you need to allow people to select what they want to scan22:56
robert_ancellJanC, as in cropping?22:57
JanCwell, the scanner shouldn't scan more than needed22:58
JanCno need to scan the full A4+ area if you scan a standard photo22:58
JanCplus, it might fuck up some automatic color/brightness/etc. algorhthms23:00
* rickspencer3_ gets ready to fork robert_ancell's code23:01
rickspencer3_robert_ancell, did you use quickly?23:01
JanCoh, and please make sure scanning still works for professionals  ;)23:01
robert_ancellJanC, we should be able to autocrop photos.  My guess is 99% of scanners out there are fast enough that doing a full scan will cover their requirements.  Professionals install Flegita23:01
robert_ancellrickspencer3_, no, there didn't seem to be python bindings for SANE23:01
robert_ancellrickspencer3_, I thought about it though :)23:02
rickspencer3_oh, I thought it was a dbus interface23:02

rickspencer3_WARNING: Unhandled message: interface=org.freedesktop.DBus.Introspectable, path=/, member=Introspect23:02

robert_ancellJanC, oh yeah, I did see that.  Wasn't sure if we wanted to drag in PIL or not23:04

rickspencer3_j/k23:08

* rickspencer3_ dents robert_ancell's picture23:11
robert_ancelldoes anyone know an easy way of generating pdfs?23:13
seb128robert_ancell, what do you mean generating?23:22
